  • Re: What games are you currently playing?

I'm hoping this "fusion" system in B/W2 is exactly what I think it is. Pokemon more or less cribbed notes from Shin Megami Tensei anyway, they may as well shamelessly rip-off Fusion if it can help people around breeding toward EV training being the ugly timesink that it is.
Even if they make breeding easy, leveling to 100 is another grind altogether. There's no level 80-100 wild Pokemon or trainers so you're looking at lame EXP rates. They should just legitimize Pokemon "hacking" once you clear the game.

Another issue is that their idea of endgame is totally ridiculous. Battle Tower caps you at level 50, 3 Pokemon only, and the NPCs play dirty (probability hacks on OHKO moves and Double Team/Minimize spam.) At that point what you're doing doesn't resemble competitive battling in the least. Plus your opponent knows what your team looks like from the get-go...

Couldn't get a hold of either Tales of Graces F or Silent Hill Downpour today, on account of my shitty-ass local rental place decided they're only going to carry games that will make a lot of money.

So I signed up for a free trial with GameAccess - hopefully my account is approved and I get a copy before Saturday....

Finished ME3 as well. Not sure what I should be feeling at the moment. I'll give it a few days before it all comes crashing down on me.

Now to wait for Armored Core V.

Yeah, I think my semi-annual experiment of buying EA games is over. I say "semi-annual" because Shadows of the Damned doesn't count, it just happened to be published by EA. Grasshopper Manufacture is still their own development studio. That and I bought the other two ME games used like a bad person would.

I didn't think the endings were that bad, just not surprising or that satisfying. Bioware did a good job overall with the game, but they did a superb job of earning the shitstorm they're now experiencing.

                    SPOILERS

I mean, that's what Bioware's about now, the pretending. They pretend that the DLC character wasn't on disc after being called out and disproven on that, the DLC is partly falsely advertised by EAWare (I hate to sound like Ray here, but they really are just EA now). They pretend what they say is true and I'm supposed to pretend that they're telling the truth.

They rubbed three pieces of ME2 DLC in your face as plot points relevant in ME3. When you have to references those things as happening, they are not optional DLC.

Raging Mass Effect 3 fans do something for charity -Destructoid

                      Gist of the articles:

ME3 fans enraged by the ending of ME3 are campaigning to have the ending changed by donating to Child's Play in Bioware's name and then demanding Destructoid, Kotaku and others report on it.

And these are the people who call me "entitled" for just wanting Bioware to release complete games. While the sick children will benefit from this and that's cool, the motive behind it is hardly altruistic. Really, I supposed to be impressed you pretend to care about some sick children just because you donated a couple dollars to get the ending to a game changed?

Steven King didn't change the ending to The Dark Tower.
The ending to Deep Space 9 was ass.
                      Metroid Other M's story blew.

It doesn't retroactively make everything about the games, shows and books that preceded them automatically bad.

"Pathetic" doesn't even begin to describe this adequately. You don't chest thump about charity.

I almost feel sorry for Bioware.

                      Almost.

Thank goodness Operation Rainfall didn't stoop to this shit.

Altruism is relative. Many people contribute to the Humble Brony Bundle fund just to give bronies a good name. Even without such motivations, almost everyone who contributes to charity does it in part, consciously or subconsciously, to feed his own ego. Does it really matter what the motive is as long as you get them to do it? This is quite possibly one of the best outcomes you could get out of collective nerd rage; much better than starting a Facebook group and hoping to get to X likes or subscribers, or not even getting that far and just fuming about it on a forum. When you look at it from the point of view that you got people to donate for reasons completely unrelated to the actual charity it's pretty awesome.

I don't know what they expected from EAware, but taking kids hostage through charity is kinda going to far.

They should just boycott EAware instead.

I wonder if they're aware that they've set up EA/Bioware to look like the good guys.

It rarely addresses the cause of the problems and it's rarely thought about after writing the checks.

It is a band-aid, because the cause of the problem is out of reach for anyone that wants to fix it. When you can't teach a man to fish, the only thing you can do is give him one. And in the case of Child's Play there's no way to tackle the root cause, because even if you could cure all illnesses, kids can still get hurt.

I'm not understanding what you mean by holding kids hostage.
