I don't kill everyone, I just don't have to save them all.

Also IGN never fails to be ironic

PSA: Your Opinions Don't Need Validation Video - IGN

If people don't need opinions validated, could we please have fewer stupid, obvious and completely unnecessary videos and filler editorials from IGN? This is the site that started the who "Metroid Prime is gaming's Citizen Kane" bullshit, which was a validation piece if I've ever read one.

I like Metroid Prime and all, but ... really?

        Yeah I don't even...

MGS4 might be a more realistic comparison.

No. We don't really need validation by contrast to another medium's highly popular work. We got validation the day the ESRB was created and video games became the new corrupter of youth, same as when a ratings system was invented for movies.

I meant in the sense of being a cinematic masterpiece. But otherwise yeah you're right.

I don't really care for weighing games on story and cinematic alone. MGS4 was so much watching and so little playing I'd never want to replay it again. I can just watch cutscenes on Youtube for a recap. It did a good job of tying up loose ends and it was an entertaining conclusion, but on the whole I'd even have to rank MGS2 over it. MGS3, followed by MGS and Peacewalker, are the better games of the series.

MGS3 is just so rich in content I'll always want to come back to it be it on 3DS, Vita, PS2 or an HD console.

MGS3 is kind of like Silent Hill 2 or Super Metroid in that everything leading up to and including the climax is very difficult for another game to top. Its a perfect storm and extremely difficult to repeat successfully. MGS4 might have been successful, but it did not beat MGS3 in the hearts of fans.

I am very, very thankful that when they did the 3DS remake that they didn't go retouching anything but what they had to (mostly graphics) and only added a few more gameplay options - such as crouchwalking and Photo Camo - to the mix. Both add something to the game, as does the 3D, without fundamentally changing what it was before.

Step 1: Make Female Shepard. Mine is a mature late 30s/early 40s redhead. The only mode Male Shepard has is sounding like a douche, FemShep feels more like she earned her place.
Step 2: Don't put much stock into your paragon or renegade ratings, just do what feels right at the time
Step 3: In ME2 do planet scanning early so you don't have to deal with all the boring scanning later. In ME1, skip MAKO bullshit whenever you can.
Step 4: Talk to the people you like, ignore the people you don't need to talk to.
Step 5; Let the people you really don't like die if there's a story option for that. I let Ashley die, but kept Wrex. Pretty much the same thing for ME2.
Step 6: Other pivotal choices? Same thing.
Thanks for this advice, it's incredibly helpful. I've decided to pass regardless for now, especially considering all this DLC nonsense with ME3 (I'm a completionist, it would drive me nuts), but maybe sometime in the future.

90% of the DLC promoted for ME3 isn't worth a shit.

The one DLC that matters is a cash-grabbing dick move on the part of EA and Bioware that should have just been put in the original game

Metal Gear Solid 4: I love how I somehow got myself into a terrible situation. I knew my no good sniping ways would screw me over eventually.

Xenoblade Chronicles: (pre-owned, apparently. Why would someone sell this beauty?) It's so similar to FFXI and XII. Regarding gameplay, of course. I'm most likely not going to log onto FFXI for awhile.

I suddenly care about Assassin's Creed:

The Hidden History of Assassin's Creed III - Xbox 360 Feature at IGN

I think its mostly the shift in setting. Not so much for being in America as it is moving from city locales to a time and place in history where America didn't have a great deal of those kinds of cities being established yet. You had towns and forests, so it will be interesting to see how they approach the environment this time out.

The Assassin being a Native American who seems to be targeting the British is another interesting point. The British had actually duped Native Americans into siding with them by ironically promising an end to American expansion, so this guy clearly has his own reasons for going the other way.

                                Pandora Saga: Weapons of Balance

It is an utterly terrible free to play MMORPG that I picked up with a few folks I've known since forever ago. Really and truly a terrible game, but it's been a lot of dumb fun so far. We've got a healer who doesn't know healing spells, a scout whose only goal is to run the hell away and not get hit, the guy with trash cans for arms who tries to hit things before they die and tank, and then I'm just tanking by virtue of setting everything in a five meter radius on fire.
