Tried out the KOFXIII demo.

SNK Playmore has outdone Capcom in the Lacking Tutorial department. It give gives you incredibly vague directions on the most difficult stuff to pull off and yet drones on and on about the most basic things. I'm not going to begrudge Atlus USA for it, as they're really just there to fill in spaces - they can't really add anything to the game side - its just sort of sad that out of all the fighters I've played this year its been Dead or Alive Dimensions of all things that really taught you how to play a fighter and did so within its story mode.

I bought MW3 for comparison purposes, and I was actually pretty shocked at the poor quality. In the past, it's mostly been a matter of opinion when it's come to which game is best, but the game's engine hasn't moved an inch since MW2. The aim assist is still overpowering, and the networking piss poor. The alternate reality kill cams were infuriating in MW2, then became comedic once I accepted them for what they were, and, upon seeing them in MW3, have returned to infuriating. How has this not been addressed? I'm guessing they don't do a lot of testing outside their internal network. A new issue I'm noticing is player models not appearing until after they're on my screen or in my vicinity, which means every once in a while I'm killed by an invisible player. It's unacceptable.

The game is also hacked to death, and people abuse glitches and exploits left and right. So lame.

Why fix what's not broken? (in Activision's eyes).

Every year the new COD outsells the previous one, so why screw with that, even if it would mean bringing in some badly-needed stability and fairness. I mean shit, the problems I've had to put up with since MW2 were the same I used to deal with and found intolerable in Halo 3. But Bungie actually stepped up to the plate with Reach and fixed their netcode, minimizing the impact of lag significantly. BF3 is also pretty damn solid compared to BFBC2's hit detection.

Not COD though. To Treyarc's credit though, at least Black Ops, bad as it was, had a shitload of support from day 1 (including the effective removal of quickscoping thank God) and I would have immensely enjoyed that game if it wasn't for A) Everyone using Ghost 24/7 and B) the net code.


They're up to bat again next year, and unlike IW Treyarc actually fucking listens to feedback and supports their games so who knows. I wouldn't hold my breath, but it's nice to think that maybe at some point they'll get the message. Wouldn't bank on them updating their graphics engine though.

I have reached a conclusion about DCUO:

On the PS3 server, the villains are heroes and heroes are the real villains.

They camp you at spawn points with PLs.
There's always more of them than you.
They chase you in low level quests, especially the level 30 ones.

So its actually more satisfying to beat down a hero. Plus the villain plotline is more interesting and has more shake-ups than the hero side.

So I will be sidelining my Green Lantern and making a Sinestro Corp recruit to go with my electric-powered grayscale healer, Mona Chrome. I think I should help even the odds on this server and tip things in favor of injustice.

Also, I will destroy everything and build my very own empire of death.

My possibly NSFW but still T-Rated villain chicks with terrible pun names ahead

To the left we have Mona Chrome and on the right we have Bea Afraid, evil doppelganger to my Green Lantern, Nia Emeralds. Punny names for the villains.

Mona I've explained and, yes, she is bad and drawn that way. In my defense, that's not a PC mod, that's just the Slimline T model top in character creation recolored for the hell of it (actually, the Livewire villain default inspired it a little).

Swimsuit model and one of the many Gothan socialites hoping to cling to Bruce Wayne's arm, Mona was bitten by an exobyte at a photoshoot and gained electric powers. To use them however, cost her all skin pigmentation, turned her hair gray and whatever clothing she gets just turns gray on touch. She lost her contracts, her friends and no longer sees the world in just black or white, but then, she also went colorblind. She now works for Lex Luthor and seeks to deprive the world of color or at least energy and the green in people's wallets.

Bea Afraid is just Nia's anti-matter universe evil twin who joined the Sinestro Corp. Multiverse problems. She likes guns rather than hand blasters, though. She doesn't need the guns, but she likes filling the chambers with fear bullets, I guess.

I'll probably make some heroes again soon, i need some dude characters to balance the three chicks out.

I am going to try DCUO on my PC, I have it o PS3 (got it for free when we where throwing out the ones we had) but for some reason, I can not get into it on PS3, going to see if PC is any different.

BF3 has been a blast for some reason. Maybe it's the return of more... experienced players with the Back to Karkand expansion. Sure there's one-sided-steamroll every now and then, but so far matches have been good losses or close calls. The new maps are awesome and the assignments make you look forward to something.

Can't say I like Conquest Assault though. The fact it doesn't have it's own US/RU Deployment means spawn-killing hell if you get caught at a single captured base. Not to mention there's no separate filter for normal Conquest or Conquest Assault. So if you want to play Conquest Gulf of Omen - pray.

I was wondering about that, because I didn't see it on the menu then all of a sudden I noticed I spawned with 250 tickets and all 3 bases taken by the enemy >_>

I've had nothing but steamrolls so far and have been reluctant to even touch the game again, at least on PS3

If you're playing on the 360 that would explain everything about the network issues. XBox Live is very shoddily written and really is not made to support more than a dozen players or so in a game. You can have the best coders to do the netcode and the fastest connection available but it's only going to be as good as the software used to play online, which is piss poor.

PSN is a little bit better. It's optimised for larger groups of players but is still gets let down by the netcode which is almost always written for the 360. PSP is let down by the hardware. Wii/DS is trash for online games not called Pokemon though to be fair, Nintendo wanted to focus on the local level for multiplayer and not online. PC games are let down by the game's netcoding which is almost always optimised for console gaming and not PC gaming.
