Original was better, I have both Lunar 1/2 for PSX, two games along with Legend of Dragoon, that will never leave my possession.... EVER...... *looks around the room and clutches the three games*

THIS. I can not believe they eviscerated this song (Kaze no Nokutaan / Wind's Nocturne). I was horrified when I got to that part in the PSP version - just stone cold shock.

For those who haven't experienced the travesty that is Lunar: Silver Star Harmony, here's the comparison.

Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete (PSX) (English)

Honestly, though, I'm still most fond of the original Japanese Sega Saturn version

But either one is still light years better than....
      Lunar: Silver Star Harmony (PSP)

Oh, and no comment about Wind's Nocturne would be complete without a link to the BEST use of the song ever...

Same. I found SSC at Gamestop one year back in high school and snatched it up along with Working Designs Players guide. A few years a later I saw a complete boxed edition for Eternal Blue I don't know where and grabbed that as well. I got a rid of a lot of my PSX games when I moved to grad school, but I will never get rid of those two.

*At the time I had no idea these were as coveted as they are today. I just thought SSC looked fun and got Eternal Blue because I liked the first so much.

I have the original CD for SSC as well, but sometimes my PS3 gives me shit when running old games - a sign it's starting to break down I think... I can't even play Star Ocean 3 anymore -_-

And wow, the JP version IS nice O.O; Luna's got a cute VA. (I wonder if they got Hirano Aya for the PSP version over there...)

Anyway, like I said it's a damn shame because they could have just left in all the original voice work. There was absolutely no need to fuck with it whatsoeever and it's a real shame because I LOVE the new map layouts and revamped battle & inventory. No more 8 items per character and dumping everything else on Nall (and Nall doesn't sound like one of the chipmunks anymore).

Some of the new voice work is actually very good, like Tempest & Alex - actually it's only a few characters that don't sound right, but why they had to go and mess with the songs...

I still don't like the new Kyle though. I guess the one saving grace is, it doesn't matter who does his voice - Nash will always be the hated assclown.

There's been rumors for a while, and IGN's even had it on their release list, of a Lunar 3 for PS3 but there hasn't been any concrete info beyond Game Arts being interested in possibly making it...

          • Re: What games are you currently playing?

Sigh ... okay, just so you people know ...

The VA + music, especially if it's music not created by the developers of the game, require licensing to distribute outside of the Japanese market. Most of these types of licenses are prohibitively expensive and for good reason. They've been burned before with flimsy royalty type of contracts and now require the costs paid upfront in cold, hard cash.

This is mainly a common problem where it involves a publisher who is trying to redistribute a product from some other development company that is not owned or controlled by them. A more recent example of this is NIS America planning to redistribute Black Rock Shooter (PSP) to the NA/EU markets. It was produced by Imageepoch, not NIS (as some people seemed to have assumed) and featured layers upon layers of outside licensing, including licensing from HUKE (art), Supercell (additional material), animation produced by Ufotable, theme song from One Ok Rock and of course the seiyuus involved. Each licensing is different from each other and must be negotiated separately. To that end, NIS America has failed to secure the rights to the theme song from One Ok Rock and thus have made the (current) decision of replacing the original theme music. It remains to be seen if they can also still include a Japanese language option containing the voice samples and dialogue of the original.

Now, if a company handles both the development and publishing, then it is fair to look into the possibility that said company took shortcuts or made an error in judgment with what they did when localizing their title. For example, just because a game is being produced for the PS3, if a particular musician is performing under the Sony Music Japan label, they wouldn't necessarily agree to any licensing deal. And ultimately, it falls to the musicians and managers whether or not they want to associate themselves with a particular product or experience.

            TL;DR

Just import games from Japan if you're worried or concerned about these things.

I've been playing Battlefield 3, PC, a lot. I can't help but wonder if the maps could be better laid out, in terms of strategical advantages. Off the top of my head, there are two instances where attacks have the advantage of assaulting from higher ground, but in both of these areas they're also forced through narrow and predictable paths down towards a multitude of buildings and windows.

Tehran Highway, the 2nd camp in Rush Mode - What the FUCK that one is lopsided for the attackers.

High ground + Tanks = not fair. Also LOL Squad Deathmatch, worst gametype ever (well, Squad modes in general suck but seriously it's beyond stupid)

I only played it for the ribbons. Can't wait for Back to Karkand now, looks AWESOME!!!

                Also MW3 tonight

I'm only getting it because if I trade in my 2 old six axis controllers (which I don't even use) I can snag it for $10. So why not?

Yeah, I know, I hate Activision and it's feeding the beast -_- but, in the grand scheme of things I'd rather not miss out on the potential fun with buddies online - especially for just $10. No way I'd pay full price for that shit.

                  Fail. Fail, fail, fail.

I'm standing firm on my boycott of Activision products. MW3 may be bought by 25 million people; I don't care, I refuse to be one of them.

meh. Like I said, $10, not the end of the world.

Still won't get any of that $15 DLC though, they can keep that shit. That reminds me though, I'm surprised that EA is apparently charging for BF3's DLC this time around. Wasn't BC2 100% free (except Vietnam which was nearly a full release game all on its own) if you bought the game new instead of used?

Sorry, but as bad as Activision might be, they don't treat customers as suspect like EA does. I not getting either, just waiting for the next Counterstrike instead since it will be crossplatform multiplayer on PS3 like Portal 2 was. I'll stick with the guys that treat me best.

I am going to the midnight sale tonight, though, just for MGS HD and Cave Story 3D. Dunno if I'll be playing them much this week, with so much else around the corner and my current fascination with DCUO, but I'll at least get Cave Story in on my breaks at work.

Well, so much for buying MW3.

                          FUCKING EB GAMES!!!1

I called them a few days ago when I bought Uncharted 2 used and specifically asked the guy if I could trade my 2 Six-Axis controllers as part of the trade 2 get it for $9.99 deal, since they are listed on their "Most Wanted" list of trade ins.

Well, the shithead at the other store I went to tonight (because it's closer to me and not down the damn hill) says that controllers don't count the same as games, or some bullshit and so they don't count for the deal.

Fine. Fuck you EB, and fuck the regulators or whatever that allowed these 2 companies to merge in the first place. Anti-trust laws my ass.

No store I know of takes controllers as part of a trade in deal for upcoming games. A most wanted trade in list doesn't equate to as applicable for all deals. Stow your sense of entitlement, Mal.

Well I finally "fixed" my NES, adjusted the pins on the 72-pin connector and disabled the lockout chip (funny how it really was just snipping one connection on one chip that did it ;p)

Now as long as my games are clean, they pretty much start up the first time I try (this is the old NES 001 model btw)

Also in the process of getting a gen 1 Genesis so I can enjoy the 12 games I already have -.-

As for PC, still dabbling in FFXIV off and on, and playing games like DarkFall and the other steam games I bought.

Are they relatively new or just really old? Aren't they like $50 each brand new? I'd buy them off you at $20 each if they were in very good condition still.
