And I agree, R2 was very weak (mood, story, setting, and gameplay) compared to the original. Same for me as ME2 really.


But at least R3 has that Kevin Butler ad.

I hadn't seen much of the actual gameplay footage to Zelda: Skyward Sword until now, mostly because I like to keep myself in the dark about games like this after a certain point. I had seen the trailers and was content with that.

I'm pretty amazed the level of detail they're going to with this one. It looks like the flight element is quite a bit more of a factor than boat travel was for Wind Waker or the train was for Spirit Tracks. It puts riding Epona to shame.

It also feels like the overworld is really going to matter this time, which as been a sore point for all the other games where transportation somewhat diminished the character of the overworld, this time it seems like the transportation helps the overworld feel more rich. Kind of like how the flute would whisk you away to other parts of Hyrule, but this time a bit more broad.

There's even craft items to pick up to upgrade weapons. Kinda like Monster Hunter, but much less of a pain in the ass.

Eh I don't think 2 was that bad. At least there was decent dialogue in 2 and you actually had a competent team to work with throughout the game.

I'm warning you though, 3 is even worse. It made even less sense, had a beyond shitty ending and if it wasn't for the awesome guns I woulda passed on it completely. I didn't even bother with the MP since this time around Insomniac decided to cock block people just like EA does with an online pass. There's a keycode for it on the back of the game's manual (lucky me I was the 1st person to rent that copy so I registered it ROFL) but yeah, anyone else who rents that copy or buys the game used will have to pony up for a pass.

Very, very lame.

Skyrim is "probably" finishable in 20 hours if you beeline for the ending, but does anyone really play Elder Scrolls that way? I'm sure I tossed at least 100 hours into Oblivion. It would surprise me if Skyrim doesn't take up at least as much of my time.

Quit hating on the resistance series. It has its faults (a lot of them sadly) but the gameplay has been consistently good I'd say.

I LOVED R2's online, just the scope of it... 64 people duking it out, lag-free!

Ah how I miss my beloved Marksman + Auger combo... Like I said, I didn't get around to trying R3's online (even though I registered it) as I was just so disgusted by the campaign, but I think I'm gonna go youtube it and see if the Marksman is still as OP as it was in R2.

That thing was seriously god damned OP in R2 if you were any good at head shots.

You don't have to be that good at headshots with the Marksman. It fires a 3 round burst, so even a "near miss" usually scores a headshot somewhere along the line.

I love Insomniac Games, really liked the first Resistance, but R2 isn't (IMO) an improvement over the original. The storytelling is better, but that's not saying much. The multiplayer is OK, but screw that 10K kills trophy.

That's pretty much what drove me to quit trying for the platinum and trade it in.

If I can find a used copy of the bundle for like $20, I might grab that otherwise meh. Well that and co-op just got boring after a while as EXP slows waaaaaaay down. I really miss the phoenix gun though.
