I've been playing League of Legends. Not sure why, but it seems like everybody is playing it.

My friends constantly play that game. Same guys that that duo'd platinum in 2Vs SC2 and had one helluva winning record before getting completely bored and purposely dropped themselves into bronze (lowest?) league and trying to be dead last which apparently is almost impossible for some reason (people actually lost to them if you can believe it ... guess trying to lose ends up being harder than trying to win)

Among all the guys I used to raid with in WoW, I can safely say that 80% of them are still playing League of Legends.

I've been playing Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness... for some reason. Well really because I don't have enough funds for a 3DS and B/W, but wow, I'm starting to remember how addicting Pokemon was back then. It's pretty fun training a few Pokes I never thought I'd bother with (due to the forced and limited selection of "Shadow" Pokemon).

My Mareep and Gulpin are going to be future powerhouses, I can tell. Sadly, I had to stop training my Houndour because damn thing got defeated every time. Think it has to do with it's weak defense in the first place. Question remains whether this game has EV values or not, otherwise it's never gonna get strong enough to keep.

The gameplay is pretty generic third person shooting and the once awesome Aya Brea is now some bitch that's seconds away from breaking into tears at all times.

Except for that whole body-hopping thing where you can position people to fight the monsters.

Also, from what I'm playing right now of Parasite Eve, Aya was always like that. People just get these funny ideas about female characters when they're not voiced, they're somehow made up to be the hardened badasses they never were.

Terra Branford - Afraid of her own powers, eventually finds the resolve to protect everyone. At least she found it way sooner than Cloud Strife did. He finds it at the ass-end of the game, she finds it by exploring her maternal instincts.

Of course, were that portrayed today the way it was back then she'd be a "weak" female character for it.

How she sounds in Dissidia - spot on. That's Terra all the way. She sounds fragile because that's pretty much what she is for the longest time. Vaan and Onion Knight take on a Locke-like role with her because for a while that's what she needed people to guide and protect her until she found that resolve on her own.

Samus Aran - Spares a infant metroid, later watches it die for her then watches her mentor die to protect her. Oh yeah, and obeying the orders of your former commanding officer so you can have legal government sanction on a mission- apparently behaving like an adult is a slight to the ill-formed concept of her badassery.

Aya Brea - Pretty much mindfucked on every level, she's got some serious damage. Not that I've gotten too deep into her character, but she's also a bit of tactless bitch when it comes to discussing other people's lives.

List goes on and on. I think guys just project masculine qualities on female characters because it makes them feel morally right and that they're treating women like equals. Not exactly how it works if you ask me. Sometimes your concept of a character is just wrong and it stems from you originally having some agency over them, such as what they sounded like in your head.

OT, but I had to get that out of my system

It happens with male characters, too. Some people thought JC Denton would never end up with a god complex after merging with Helios at the end of Deus Ex. There were no "good" side in Deus Ex, no good endings, no clean-cut solutions and ironically not one mote of deus ex machina to be found. So does it shock me he ends up a potential villain if I choose to disagree with his god complex in the Invisible War? Just because I was Denton in the first game didn't make me a good Denton.

This is turning into a blog-worthy rant, I think I'll do one now.

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations (Wii). Waving my hand at the screen for Objections is fun~

I was planning on playing Blue Dragon, but the discs (pre-owned) must have been thrown into a dishwasher and then finger danced on. I've never seen so many finger prints and scratches on a single disc in my life (rentals don't count)... but what surprises me the most is that my XBox could actually read the disc (it crashes for the first battle, but still).

I never did finish PE2 (got the last area of the game but just never completed it), but she did come off as at least semi-tough in the 1st 2 games. She has seen some seriously fucked up shit though, so an at least semi-broken mind isn't unexpected at all. But then people seem to assume that just because a character is a bad ass, they're not human which is silly. Look at Dom from Gears of War, or Dante from DMC - both are pretty bad ass, but have their soft, caring sides about them too.


Hell even John-117 is actually a deeply emotional, caring leader if you read the Halo novels.

I agree with your characterization. In PE2 she didn't come off as a "bitch" and actually had more humility about her than most main characters of a video game. If anyone doubts this, just go back to Dryfield and watch her interaction with Gary Douglas and his dog, flint (I think he's portrayed as a Vietnam war vet due to the fact that he has a lot of firearms available for use)

I loved the style of the 1st PE game, the 3rd one looks like something entirely new...

^^ my fav part was also the Police station. I thought it was cool how you had a sort of overworld and jumped between the station and other areas up until the point where the Station gets overrun by the mitochondria monsters. God damn SE needs to put those 2 games up on PSN

The scare factor was high on the first run through at the top of that hotel in PE2. I think a lot has to do with the music since the other effects were cliched (monster jumping out at you)

PE was also the 1st game I ever played with a final boss that you simply had to run away from.

I have not beaten 3rd Birthday yet, but I am still waiting to see how it is at all connected with her origin and where these twisted come in all this....... so far nothing concrete and its a little annoying. I mean they ditch all her old powers for this DNA stuff and Over Dive..... *shrugs*

Well after I beat that, I am going to finally start playing Fall Out New Vegas, and as always I will continue to play Pokemon Black here and there.

FNV is a pretty good game. Its DLC is even better.
