Ok where in the hell is a good place in FFXII to go level up. My party is around level 12~13 and I just finished on the Leviathan. So far I've found the Westersand against Urstrix but they are only giving like 90 exp and there aren't that many of them. I level faster solo in FFXI.

I think it's just past where you are now; in the Sand Sea, you'll cross some giant platforms. These things are full of some type of beastman thing, you can run around killing them for hours without breaking or losing your chain. Just past that, there's an area with some pretty rough monsters (you'll know it when you see it; it's off to the side of the path, just before an area that will prompt you to save when you enter because of a boss fight). There's also some giant turtle things just before that, I don't think they're viable grinding targets though.

EXP in 12 is a pain in the ass, period. It's not even remotely bearable IMO until you can obtain the 2x EXP accessory, which you can get 1 very early in the game in a chest IIRC, and then buy them about 1/4 into the plot?

EXP isn't nearly as vital though as LP and Gil IMO. Getting new skills and gear will do a lot more for your performance, especially in the early game. Get your mist charges ASAP, those should be priority #1 (along with stat boosts) as they make the Boss fights ridiculously easy.

The best place to grind in the game is the Stillshrine of Miriam.

Negalmurr and his minions. Pretty much the only place in the game that can be rightfully accused of any autopiloting..

You're still a ways from that part, though, the best EXP in the near future for you with be in the Urugan-Yensa Sandsea. There are tons and tons of Yensa beastmen to hack away at and you can loop that area for a good while and get good EXP and very high chains. This is also good for stocking up big on potions.

Ya I've heard of that, but it was suggested to start that around lvl40 with a bunch of licenses I don't have yet. I'm probably going to give it a go when I get to it.

yeah, I set up that loop once. Had problems with it though. Didn't really seem to be worth the hassle to me, unless you start very low, and have a good reason to leave your PS3 on. Not as idiot-proof as loops in other games; if things get every slightly out of rhythm your characters will kill the main mob.

Miriam is a fun place to grind though; just running around chaining the zombie doods in the big room. I think I got up to like 240 chain in there once.

I liked the mine in Bujerbah (or w/e the second town you visit is). You can pretty well infini chain the skeletons there from the second zone till the the end. IIRC they gives you 150 or so exp/kill. (there is an area with a bridge that they constantly pop up on, followed by a similar are in the next zone line. Basically you clear those 2 areas and zone into the third area, then run back to the first bridge an repeat. They also drop many bone fragments which sell well (200 or so G) and is a great early farming location. It should last you until around level 25.

Another good location is the sand-sea, and after that the forest is an awesome loop.

the stillshrine... is that after the Garuda? I remember that in that one dungeon you can roam a few areas fighting undead and build up a massive battle chain, I saw pics of one guy breaking 900 in there.

Also, while it's extremely difficult, on my last playthrough I managed to (barely) run past the mobs and traps (the traps are the worst, far worse than the mobs) and grab the Zodiac Spear early into the game. Ashe's damage just absolutely sky rocketed once I equipped it lol.

No, Stillshrine is after Mt. Bur-Omisace, through the snowcovered mountain area, past the Elder Dragon. I mean, technically it's possible to run through the forest that leads to that blinding snowfield and skip the Elder Dragon, but that's a huge PITA.

I'm having a Metroid Marathon this month, so I broke down and got a GBA again to play through Zero Mission, Metroid II and Fusion. I got one of the GBA SPs that came out around the time of DS Lite, the ones that came in Onyx and had those really bright blacklit screens.

Gonna do speed runs for Zero Mission, Super Metroid and Fusion, but not Metroid II (its too laggy as it is). Since I just finished Metroid Prime at 100% and about to do Metroid Prime 2 at 100%, I might go through Metroid Prime 3 again for 100%, too. Those are too hard to speed run with, plus they ripped out most of the places where sequence-breaking happened in the original versions.

Emulators much? Anyway this is precisely why I like my DS and will never part with it - It's still got the GBA slot ^_^

I still have my GBA SP (onyx color). It still has my copy of FFTA in it.

I don't like emulators unless they're legit - as in made by the company that made the games originally.

                              Also, piracy, yo.

That and I gave my local mom'n'pop game store a sale on that GBA SP. Plus I can use my e-Reader cards again. Can't do that with any version of the DS. I have the entire line of NES Classic eReader cards.

Valhalla Knights for the PSP reminds me of FFXI in a few ways.

                                1. Party. Depding on which professions you pick for your party can make or break a boss fight.

                                2. Subjobs. I was actually grinding subjobs to give me that extra boost for my last boss fight.

2a. Leveling Subjobs is done the same way it is in FFXI...make it as your main and grind xp.

                                4. Quests. They dont tell you anything on how to complete a quest besides what area you should look in.

                                5. Money. At first you think it is easy to get but when you see the prices of some of the items, you realize you are going to have to grind for cash or hope the mobs you are fighting will give you the drop.

I dont know how far I am in this game but I am having a lot of fun with it.
