Easier to do when, more and more, you can just download old games through the various networks, only a matter of time before PS2 games get out there on PSN, I'd imagine. I think Sony's just sitting on PS2 stuff to coincide with their premium version of PSN.

I like that I can have all these older games up for play on Wii on PSP to play, along with the occasional gem DSiWare picks up. There's just some stuff I don't need taking up shelf space anymore. I'm not exactly worried about the "What if" scenarios that come with downloadable games.

I mean, unless we're hit with an EMP attack over America, in which case physical media users are just as SOL.

I moved on from the Wii ages ago

If Nintendo can ever put out more than 2 good games a year, I'll reconsider firing up the old dust collector. In the mean time, loving my PS3 & 360

Would be nice if some interesting DS stuff would come out, like that sequel to hotel dusk as my DS has been collecting dust too (and PSP for that matter. I got burned out pretty bad on Dissidia)

That reminds me, Lunar is out on PSP now. How does it stack up to the PSX version? (which I got off Ebay some time ago) I loved SSSC to death, the voice acting and everything was perfect, campy as Lunar is. I'm a little concerned about buying the PSP version as I was looking at it when I was @ GS the other day to preorder XIV. Says new story scenes, definitive version etc etc... can anyone who's tried it state their opinion please?

And yes, BBQ, I'll probably be buying Reach when it comes out lol granted that Bungie fixes at least some of the bullshit (and there's a lot to go around.) But that's the funny thing about Halo - despite the BS it's still pretty fun. Reach actually takes skill to play (for the most part) for a change too.

Nothing wrong with nostalgia every once in a while.
Burning questions are burning: Is jenova_9 really a girl and is she cute? Does she talk like that in real life?

Considering the only way to actually make an EMP is by detonating a nuclear weapon I wouldn't worry.

You're behind then, the Wii has had several good games this year. Thats not including the usual holy trinity of Nintendo, but third party content.

Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom, No More Heroes 2, Monster Hunter Tri, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (this version has many exclusives the others don't), Sin and Punishment 2, Shiren the Wanderer 3, Trauma Team, Arc Rise Fantasia...

And then the holy trinity get started soon. Mario Galaxy 2 is out this Sunday.

              I think you've a little behind.

Pokemon, SMT: Strange Journey, Infinite Space, Picross 3D. If you like Hotel Dusk you might want to look into Again, its made my Cing. Wario Ware DIY was pretty good. DS has had a pretty strong year so far, July DQIX is finally coming out.

There were no new scenes, they updated gameplay/map graphics, you can see encounters on the field. The combat system is similar but the presentation of it is a little different, feels a little closer to Crimson Gem Saga. I think CGC is better, though.

You can get CGC off PSN, kinda hard to find it on UMD..

Except that electronics can be replaced after an EMP, and the physical media will work fine (except cartridges). Of course, it's pretty moot considering the server information is probably backed up too. The only problem there is stuff like Wii where it's console linked-- but then in the case of every console simultaneously dying, Nintendo is probably not staying in business anyway.

I was being facetious, but I think you're running on the Hollywood concept of EMP. A real EMP would knock out our entire electrical grid and societal collapse would occur within days because money would then be worthless.

                  • Re: What games are you currently playing?

Money has been worthless far too many times in the past to think that a failure of the electrical grid would suddenly destroy society. Although I'm pretty sure EMPs are far too localized right now for anything short of a full scale, orchestrated, nuclear strike to be effective. Not to mention I highly doubt there aren't contingency plans in the military to deal with such an event-- I'm sure one of the first actions (plan or not, actually) would be to mobilize National Guard troops into affected cities. Heck, look at the Northeastern blackout a few years ago. Huge percent of America, both in landmass and population size, not to mention the financial, cultural, transportation, and government impact. No real remnants of it seven years later.

Would it be a radical change? Sure. But look at any number of countries right now where due to government instability and corruption, natural disaster, a simple lack of government, and so on has led to change in the monetary system. It would be a huge toll on the US in terms of being a worldwide reserve currency, but it wouldn't plunge us into a second dark ages. And America has shown itself to be damn good at bouncing back in the past.

It says right on the fucking box new story scenes >_> and you could always see encounters on the field... no idea what that other game is, nor was I aware they changed the combat at all other than new spells.

If there are new scenes, they're not animated, its the same scenes they used in other games, I think they expanded the scenario a little, but the story runs the same course it always has. The sprites are new and have more detail than the PSX version.

But still, its pretty much the same game it was the first two times, three if we're counting the DS version. Same annoying hero and sidekick, same sickeningly sappy story.

                          Currently playing:

                          3D Dot Game Heroes (PS3)
                          - So, so, so, so amazing. If you ever liked any Zelda game, ever, and own a PS3, you are committing a crime against humanity if you do not buy this game.

                          Lost Planet 2 (PS3)
                          - Reviewers didn't like it, but I'm having a good time with this game. It's not all that and a bag of chips, but it's a capable shooter and the co-op play is actually surprisingly good.

                          Aquaria (PC)
                          - This is without a doubt the best indie game I have ever played. Not without some faults, but there's a lot to love in this game, from the great soundtrack to the clever level design, to the unique art style.

Aren't the new scenes in the Lunar remake the events with Dragonmaster Dyne, Gallion, Mia's mom and Jessica's dad saving Athena before the game's story? I know I watched the scenario on Youtube and it wasn't in SSSC.

Anyway, currently playing A Link to the Past and Portal until Galaxy 2 next week.

Red Dead Redemption is pretty bad, at the moment. I had to retry the race in the beginning about four times because the retarded horse I was riding kept leaping off a cliff. It's hard to understand how any QA department could miss something like that. I spent half an hour looking for some stupid treasure, and I still haven't found it. Apparently, picture one is of hangman's rock or whatever, while picture number two is of some other unknown location near a noose, yet somewhere far away from a tree that looks like the tree from hangman's rock, but there's no rock. So, I don't know what the fuck is going on in this game.

Free-roam sucks. Oh, go here, kill everybody, now go here, and kill everybody there, now go there and kill everybody. Lame.
