I've been debating back and forth. FFXII is a lot easier if you know how to play it, but FFX's battle system is much easier. Quickenings are more twitch based than FFX's limit breaks, but you only have to learn one way to do those. FFX would take a lot more noticable grinding; with FFXII I could help show her side quests to keep her busy so she doesn't feel like she's just killing monsters over and over. Gambits would probably be good, plus then I could mock her for being terrible at programming given she's got a computer science degree. FFX is a lot more cartoony (which seems like a detraction for her), FFXII is harder to navigate.

Also considering Shenmue, but the controls on that can get pretty frustrating.

Well tell her good luck with whatever she chooses! They are both good games and I think she'll enjoy them.

Speaking of Shenmue, I am playing "Shenmue with tattoos" right now. lol (That's Yakuza 3 and it is the closest thing to Shenmue ever! lol)

SMT Strange Journey hits this week.

Wario Ware: D.I.Y (Do It Yourself) and Sakura Wars next week.

WW D.I.Y I might wait on a couple more weeks, but it looks insane. There are tons of things you can create here. Its got a base game, but the real fun of it is user generated content. Nintendo's offering levels created by various developers as downloads from next week to mid-July. Hideo Kojima, along with the creators of Cave Story, A Boy and his Blob and others are throwing in levels..

Working on Okami, Pokemon Soul Silver, FFVIII and Infinite Space right now

How many times have you played and beaten FFVIII? If I were to pick it up again today, it would be my 4th time. Despite my best efforts, I always forget something every time I play through. Mugging Seipher, drawing Ultima before leaving a zone I can't come back to for a while, fighting a CC member. No matter how much I plan, something always gets left behind. First play through, I missed Drawing Carbuncle from those Lion/Lizards and had to wait until Ultimecia's Castle before I could level him up. My junction setup was gimped.

Pokemon, no comment. I never really became a fan. I played one of them and it was fun, but I just never got sucked in... meh.

How is Infinate Space? I haven't played it and I want to. I heard good things.

OH! and Okami... another game on my long list of things to play. I'll get around to it. Probably not until it's an antique... but I'll get to it.

I was wrong about one thing in it, though. There are HP displays during the fight, you only see them when you decide your actions - which are real time - and not when the action is done in the cinematic that follow (which you can just skip over if you want). Its a very, very sci-fi geek kind of game. Its made by the people behind Bayonetta and Steel Battalion.

As for FFVIII, I think this is the third time through.

So mom started playing FFXII, is currently on her way to see Old Duran.

So I felt like some hack and slash but didn't feel like playing Diablo/2 for the 10,000,000,000th time. So off to the game store...where everyone knows my name lol... and I picked up Sacred 2. Kinda addicting with looooots of stuff to do.

How does it match up against the original Sacred?

Not quite as good so far, at least imo. But still solid and keeps me entertained for hours........though its going to take a SHIT LOAD of hours to finish the game! lol

I agree 150%! Not as pretty but absolutely challenging and immersive.

SMT: Strange Journey. Setting Infinite Space to the side for now so I can play SMT and Pokemon.

Also gonna work on finishing Okami so I can have the PS2 cleared for Sakura Wars. Man, I did not expect Okami to be as long as it is, but each event has been epic enough to justify it going on that much longer.

I only have one Celestial Brush technique left to get, so I can't be that far off. Though I am still missing two holy relics, so I'm still suspicious.

Strange Journey has been pretty good thus far. It feels like they took the engine from Etrian Odyssey and SMT: Devil Survivor and made them mate in Hell. The first person perspective and the visuals give it the desolate and surreal feel it needs to be a main series entry, that's for sure.
