Re: What games are you currently playing?
Yeah the throwing knife is pretty wonky, but I still love it. Oh dear sweet GOD how I love stabbing people on MW2...
Traditionally I prefer to play a Sniper role in FPS, which is one of the reasons I miss Battlefield since the series has monstrously large maps giving snipers plenty of good camps. But so far Sniping just seems to suck balls in MW2 and I'm attributing a lot of the bullshit I experience in general to lag. It's almost enough to make me want to buy the game for PS3 instead (I'm only renting it atm) since I've yet to experience lag of any kind on PS3 with any game.
I don't know by what magic fairy dust Sony pulled out of their ass, but man PS3 > 360 no contest when it comes to lag. Well, MAG might just break that theory with the 256 player games but we'll see - from what I hear the beta is holding up nicely.
Back to MW2... yeah I love the knife. I'm rather pissed off though, because my pistol of choice is the Desert Eagle (another gun that probably isn't as strong as it ought to be, especially given the in-game model uses .50 AE rounds) because I just plain love 'em. But that means going for a pretty long ass time without the tactical knife is which is critical to a good knife build.
The Riot Shield is also proving to be absolutely invaluable; I can just leave it on my back and I can take a lot more punishment than normally from the rear. Or I can do the bastard technique (which I've yet to perfect but I'm slowly getting better at it) of charging people with the shield running full speed and then throwing my knife. Or if I've lost it/don't want to chance it I'll just bash 'em with the shield twice. I'm not sure if I can bash them with the shield and still have time to stab or then throw my knife, seems too risky. I wasn't aware you could lunge with the damn thing though O.O;
My biggest dilemma atm (other than no tactical knife) is trying to figure out the best combination of perks. Marathon is kind of a no-brainer since I like to be constantly mobile. However, Ninja is also pretty damned tempting since it takes me off heartbeat sensors and with Pro reduces sounds by 3/4.
I'm using Lightweight at the moment largely for the challenge to unlock Pro for the bonus 5000 XP, but soon as that's done I'm switching to Hardline - at least until I get Cold Blooded.
The final slot is yet another headache; I'm not sure if Commando Pro is worth giving up for something like say Scrambler. For one thing, Scrambler will actually give away my position (sort of) and being able to shank someone from 5 feet away is crazy. I'm just not sure if there are any really good alternatives.
