Beat Killzone 2. That game sucked in the beginning, sucked in the middle, and sucked at the end.

Any suggestions for a good PS3 game?

It would be easier if you told us what games you've played and generes you usually like. Because there's the usual games, (MGS3, Dead Space, Valkyria, GTAIV) and then there's the not so usual (Ryu ga Gotoku and others).

I'll check out some of those. I'd really like something I can play online. I heard MGS3 plays well online, but I'm not sure about the others. A lot of my gripes about Killzone 2 wouldn't matter online, so I'm going to give that a try tomorrow.

It's towards the end of the game. Even though I own it, I refuse to fire it up again because well, I just plain hate Nero. Some of his moveset is cool, and I might have even liked the character had he not been a blatant Dante clone and the new star of the series.

Seriously wtf, why did Capcom feel the need to shift the focus of DMC from Dante to Nero? Seems to me if they wanted to create a new character to attract people to the series, oh idk, they might have actually made said character different. But then I remember it's Capcom we're talking about.

Just started up Resident Evil 5. I'm already closing on on the final stage, and I'm surprised I got so far in nearly a day's time. I'm guessing it makes up for that in being able to go back to chapters for upgrading weapons as well as going through the game again in different modes, like DMC. Being able to manage focus between two characters on the spot is neat, even if it's just you doing the work as Chris most of the time.

And good god does this game look amazing in HD.

                Pretty much.

Started playing La Pucelle Tactics today. I don't know if it's because I haven't played Disgaea in a while, but the sprites and their animations seem a lot better drawn than all of the Disgaea games, which is odd.

                Whatev, fun game.

Fuck yes, RE5 Mercenaries mode is awesome. There's like 9 stages now and co-op Mercenaries is a blast.

Either way it probably doesn't matter, Capcom eats retcon flakes and drinks fuck-your-canon coffee for breakfast so even if they did explicitly tell us who Nero is his origin would probably be changed in the next game anyway.
Except that Virgil absolutely loathes all humanity and IMO, seems incapable of any form of love (so no mating with a demon either.I just don't see it happening given how he conducted himself in DMC3)

Furthermore, that would make Nero only 1/4 demon which would have meant there'd be no way he could be as tough as he is in the game (presumably, since he would only be half the demon Dante and Virgil are). I chalk up his being able to wield the Yamato as yet another in a long line of Capcom's now trademark plot holes.

Got to the Magus Sisters in FFX2, quit. Interesting battle system, but absolutely nothing in that game motivates me to grind to beat it. Not to mention it just feels really random anyway.

On Indigo Prophecy now. It's very interesting, definitely the best movie I've ever played. It sounds like I'm kidding, but I'm really not. Quite like Shenmue, except where Shenmue takes a foundation of Virtua Fighter and builds it into an open world game set in a small Japanese town, Indigo Prophecy takes Silent Hill and makes a level-based game in New York City. Indigo Prophecy also has more of a focus on dialog trees, where Shenmue focused on finding people and things, and walking around to trigger events. Oh, and Indigo Prophecy has significantly more badass QTEs, although a couple of them (the sports ones) practically feel like grinding.

Also, picked up Gun (PS2 game) at TRU, on clearance for $5. At that price, it's cheaper than renting, and the reviews looked pretty good (metacritic + cell phone = ). Think that goes below DMC, and above ZOE. Thinking about swapping the DMC2/3 and ZOE/2 spots, though, and not sure whether to put Gun or Beyond Good and Evil first, but I'll cross those bridges when I come to them.

I had forgotten they renamed (and censored) Farenheit for the US.

I loved the game, and it's different endings. Only thing I kinda didn't enjoy as much about it were the flashbacks (kinda meh) and the PS2 graphics (the game really deserves a PS3 remake), but the important thing is the story which I really liked.

Just wish they had added autoplay for all cutscenes as an unlockable, because many times the game is way more fun to watch than to play.

I can't remember how many times I failed because I was too entertained watching what was going on in the movie to be bothered to look at the color lights.

It wouldn't really add anything to the experience since the girly stuff isn't going to get any more meaningful in Japanese. Plus the extra job they added was kinda lame, like the game wasn't mimicking Sailor Moon enough already.

FFX-2 to me was more about the sidequests and minigames, on top of just rushing through the whole thing a few times to see both endings. Keep in mind here that FFX-2 is one of those rare SE games that actually makes use a New Game Plus feature, so items and learned skills are retained, levels are just reset to 1.

The core game isn't that difficult and you'd probably stumble on to one of the character-exclusive dress spheres along the way (probably Rikku's Machina Maw since its the easiest to get), save the grind for things like 100-level dungeon and Trema, the megaboss of that dungeon. Just make sure you get the Cat Nip item if you want a prayer in beating Trema. Even with it he's a bad-ass boss.

1- No mod chip, and there's no way I'm screwing with my launch PS2. If it dies, there's a very good chance I don't play any of those games for at least a year. Longer if Sony takes more time to release another BC PS3.
2- I don't mind the 'girly stuff', but FFX-2 is just not amazing enough to justify sinking in hours to get to the ending. It feels like FF8 in shiny colors. FF8 was nice, but I honestly wish I hadn't finished that anyway. Better to end that around the end of disk 2 imo.
3- I actually got the Machina Maw and Floral Falafel completely by accident; I strongly avoid strategy guides on first playthroughs now. The latter of which probably being a big reason I stopped caring; basically put Yuna on unerring path, switch dress sphere twice, own pretty much everything. Overdrive spammage on bosses in FFX was pretty bad already, but honestly the Floral thing is the only dressphere that's even fun for me anyway.

Overall, I'm glad I played FFX2, but have no motivation whatsoever to finish it. Between that, and having a whopping nine other games on the shelf to play through (and more I'd like to buy, like NPC!Pikmin), there's no way I'm forcing myself through it.

There's you're problem right there - you're distracted by other games. I actually have this problem, but the solution is pretty simple:

Stop buying more games before you complete others. I decided the other day I'm just not picking anything else up aside what's already pre-ordered until I get Etrian Odyssey done. Got like ten other games on my DS to play, don't really need more at this point til some get finished.

Not really. One, I buy most of my games on sale or clearance now. That tends to be a 'buy it or you're paying more later' thing. For example, the DMC box set was $10 off, Gun was $5, FFX2 was like %20 off with a coupon, ZOE2/BG&E/Indigo Prophecy were $30 total (B2G1), Brave Story and Silent Hill were both part of '$30 for two games' deals. Actually, that's every single game on my to-play list, gotten for stupidly low prices ($15 for PSP games, $10 or less for PS2 games). Two, I can focus just fine on a single game. I haven't touched anything since I started playing Indigo Prophecy, and I didn't have any problems while I was doing an MGS marathon. The problem is that FFX2 is boring, to me. Sure, if I were three or four years younger and didn't have any other games to play, there's a better chance I would go for completion, but it's just not worth it to me.
