Since the majority of my actual gear is still in transit from Japan, I only have my 360 and DS with me. With that, however, I'm still enjoying a spot of gaming in my free time (i.e. time not spent playing FFXI because my hard drive is being picky about my new 360, and I've been lazy in tracking down a new copy of FFXI).

For the 360, I'm sinking my teeth into The Last Remnant (and after that, Infinite Undiscovery). I like how TLR, while still menu based, maintains the illusion that the battle is not static, that it is a rather chaotic and spread out affair.

On the DS, I'm splitting my time currently between Disgaea DS, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclasia. I never regret popping in some Castlevania; always a good time. OoE is a solid entry.

I also have a few other DS games waiting in the wings here, such as Chrono Trigger and Luminous Arc 2, and a PS3 goodie in the form of Valkyria Chronicles (to go along with my as-of-yet small library of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Dynasty Warriors: Gundam).

Yes, even in a barebones situation, I'm still gettin my game on.

So... I asked my girlfriend which game I should play next. She picked Wild Arms 5 off the shelf because it has the flashiest looking box and told me to play that. I figure why not, I can probably start it up and check it out for a bit and go back to actually play it later after I am done with Star Ocean 4.

Wild Arms 5 is actually a lot of fun. Star Ocean 4 is going to have to wait if I can't finish this by then.

Well, its not FF-ish, but its probably the best old-school dungeon crawler on the DS - The Etrian Oddessy 2. Or if you can find the original used, get that.

Its a mix of Dragon Quest dungeon-grinding and old school pen-and-paper RPGs. You're responsible for creating your own maps, though, which I thought gave the game a nice bit of flavor. Create your characters, pick their jobs and into the dungeons you go!

I'm playing Dragon Quest 5. Unfortunately I feel asleep during my treatment and the nurse turned my DS off and I lost a lot of progress. LOL

I will make sure the nurses in the clinic I work at are aware of this issue and make sure they never pull aggro in such a manner

The Last Remnant was terrible, I couldn't stand the battle system. What's the point of battle formations when you're just beating down a bunch of fucking bugs? Why do I need to flank bugs? The whole thing had potential, but the often short fights didn't justify the long load and lengthy battle animations. I just couldn't take fight after fight after fight after fight after fight, and the fact that enemies leveled up with you made all that fighting pointless. I had no advantage to show for it. I quit that game early on.

I'm playing Infinite Undiscovery now, and if you're thinking about playing it, read a fucking guide first. A lot of the achievements are one time deals, so if you miss them you're done with them. You're going to miss a lot of little nuances through the beginning of the game because you wont even realize they're there. You're often rewarded for meaningless tasks, but you wont even know they're tasks until you've completed them making them easy to miss, including breaking barriers you could easily run around and shooting apples from trees. Luckily the battle system is rather enjoyable and the AI knows how to keep you healed. The controls are a little clumsy, but you get used to it after a while.

I forgot, I bought Mass Effect 2-Disc SE the other day. I had rented Mass Effect awhile back and got to like the last mission and had to take the game back. I finally broke down and bought it the other day so I'll probably be finishing it up pretty soon. Figured I'd get it and beat it since there is gonna be a second DLC coming out probably before next year and ME2 will be out around next spring. Because the story will carry over, I figured it'd be a good idea to finish .

Totallly forgot that I had gotten the first DLC for ME, never played thru it, then sold my copy. I might actually rent it sometime to play that DLC... I liked the story but I hated wandering thru the inordinately sheer mountains and spending crazy long kinda uncomfortable rides in the very slow elevators.

Finally, I am close to the end of SMT: Nocturne.

This is like a japanese version of Elder Scrolls, I swear. So much to do and even if you see most of it, you'll likely not see all of it. Even on the second time around.

Fused demons to make Beelzebub, evolved him to his fly form. Made Metatron and unlocked the Pierce trait from a Demon Broker. The door he was behind required Metatron to even get inside. I've been smearing that Pierce trait everywhere I can in my Demon Compendium for my second play-through.

I've unlocked all Dante's skills. I created Shiva - the best Fury class demon - on a fusion accident. He's a freak, but he destroys everything we come across because he got the pierce trait from the Vile demon I was trying to fuse down.

Oh, and I got the final Magatama, which voids all attacks except Almighty. Heh.

So I'm finishing this one tonight, I hope. I already made some low tier demons with great abilities for the next play-through.

After I wrap this up, its on to my fresh, new copy of Digital Devil Saga. I wish I could have found a copy of DDS2 minus the assrape prices on Amazon and Ebay,. but I found a copy without original box or instructions. I had a double DVD case, though. so I just put both games in one case.

Hoping to find a copy of Devil Summoner for PS2 soon, I just put down my pre-order for Devil Summoner 2 o.o/

Need to pre-order Devil Survivor while I'm at it.

Finished off Castlevania: Order of Ecclasia, and just waiting for my Wii to get here so I can hook it up to Castlevania: Judgement for the goodies. Moving on to Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (part 2 of the Zenithian Trilogy IIRC), and picked up my copy of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon today as well (along with Castlevania: Judgement, Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice, and Ar Tonelico II: Melody of Metafalica, and some Armin Van Buuren, cuz he's a pimp).

Currently tho I'm playing thru God of War 1 & 2 and tryin to finish the Allied Campaign in Red Alert 3 so I can move on to the Japanese Campaign.

OK, finished Nocturne. Got Neutral ending, which is what I wanted, but I didn't think I'd end up with. Pity I saved past I point where I had established my neutral Reason. When I got to the bottom of the Labyrinth of Amala, Lucifer wouldn't let me in to see him so I couldn't get to see the True Demon ending this round.

Just because I don't want to lead an army against God and took Dante and your best demons with me isn't a reason not to let a Demi-Fiend in for a chat, especially when he invited me down there to start with. Who thought Lucifer would be so emo?
