    Disk 3, just after desert palace. About 36 hours; didn't do much messing around on Disks 1 and 2, but now that it's opened up some I decided to do some work on the Chocobo quests (mostly because I wanted to get back into Treno), I'm thinking I might take on Ozma later. If I did, it would be the first bonus boss (in the "hideously overpowered" sense, not "optional" sense) I've ever bothered fighting. Beginning of Disk 3 was a huge pain though; since I went from round 3 of the card tournament up through all of the Alexandria shit up to the book fight, then died. Luckily when I got back on it, I won the tournament and killed the book on my first try, so that was pretty nice.

      Oh you are right around where I am then. I just got the Hilda Garde 3 so I'm poking around in every corner like I usually do. lol

            Maybe, but not in Alpha 2. She's a damn pushover even at the highest difficulty setting.

            Sagat on the other hand will kick my ass more consistently than any other character, except Shin-Akuma.

              Oh FF9...

              The only 2 things I never did in that game were Ozma and Excalibur 2. Excal 2 isn't even possible unless you own a PSX/PS1 anyway, as it required you to pop the tray during the Cinematics which would skip them when you closed it again. Yes, for some ridiculous reason your playtime continues to count down during game's cinematics.

              I never did see the point in it anyway; If you hit 99 all your characters will hit pretty damn hard with their final gear regardless, and you pretty much have to skip through all the text and everything else (basically the entire point of playing the game in the first place) so why bother?

              IIRC, I stopped on my last playthrough at the searching for the animals... I've doing that a lot lately, replaying old RPGs and just stopping near the end lol. I still have to finish up Lufia 2 (I gave up on Cursed Mountain, the Motion Controls are far too aggravating and unresponsive in that game. I'm doing the motions correctly but the piece of crap just won't register them)

                Erm. If you're going for a perfect game, maybe, but one I am pretty sure that you can pop the disk on PS2, and even if you can't, there's time to get there even with cinematics included.

                It's impossible on PAL, but on NTSC you just need to get there within the time.

                    Hmm, in my old FF9 guide (back before POL.com was changed to FFXI's main page) it said you had to skip the scenes or you simply would not make it. The other side of it is, because you're rushing through that means you have to be very conservative about gil and battles which also means struggling on bosses due to low EXP levels.

                    Basically, it's only for the truly mental who feel they have something to prove.


                    ^_^ I'm about halfway done Okami I think? Just finished clearing out the Ryoma (think that's the right name) area and found the second Dojo... kicking myself now for wasting 100,000 Yen on that stupid piss attack Golden Fury. Yes, you get a taunt that lets you piss on enemies... it's supposed to make them drop Demon Fangs which are very helpful but as of yet I can't seem to get it to work... must be the timing?

                    I only had enough left when I got there to buy the double jump, and there are a lot of new attacks I want (there's also a new God Technique for 2,000,000 called "Brown Rage" ... really Cacpom? Are you that juvenile?)

                        People have got the NTSC time down to ten and a half hours now. The FMVs don't take anywhere near an hour and a half, so you'd be fine.

                        I don't disagree about it being a silly test, but it's not impossible.

                          Officially finished Borderlands last night with all trophies except the ones you get from downloadable content.

                            Halp!

                            Finally got an HDTV today. 22" 1080p LCD/LED set. Perfect for my living space as it turns out.

                            I'm just trying to figure about a few things. Mostly, I'm just trying to figure out what to do to get the Wii games to look better on it. I know I need to grab some component cables for it to get to the 480p feature on the system, but i'm curious if that will clear up the lower refresh rate and ghosting I'm getting on the screen now. If not, what else do I need to do?

                              Depends on the TV. A lot of people just don't like the way Wii looks on their HDTV; some recommend just playing it on SD sets. Not sure if there's really much you can do about it.

                                Playing Red Dead Redemption. Shooting down animals and skinning them is pretty fun, luckily I haven't ran into any Cougars yet .
