  • Re: What games are you currently playing?

L4D2 demo tomorrow, because I'm EST and the servers seem to open at 2am for me. I don't know if I should stay up and queue the download, or just wait until the morning when the congestion shouldn't be too bad.

Oh is it up for the public now? I thought only people who pre-ordered could get it right now.

Aion sub is cancelled for the time being. I like the game but NCSoft has a lot of issues that need to be taken care of before I want to start throwing down a monthly fee for it.

Torchlight, a dungeon hack by the creators of the first two Diabolo games, came out on Steam today for $20. what I could play of it was a solid experience, but my laptop wasn't made for it, i think. I liked the Vanquisher, who was not only a hottie, but got some very explosive guns for her to use. I used the shotgun on a poor goblin and all that was left of him as a big red streak on the floor.

They need to make Torchlight for PSP now :D

So apparently Brutal Legend is rather disappointing or so I've been told... the Demo gets you all psyched up (it got me going ) for a fairly large let-down.

I don't understand why the first L4D did so well. I played the demo with a couple buddies a few times and we thought it was kind of bland. It was like a half-life mod-- It felt old, and there wasn't much to it.

I wish the L4D2 demo wasn't exclusive to pre-orders though. I'd like to try it.

That's a dumb system, by the way. Demo's for only those who pre-ordered a game? I thought demo's were supposed to help convince people to buy a game. But I guess it works as a reward, too. I just think it'll result in an increase in the number of people who pre-order the game, then cancel their pre-order.

Anyway...as far as other games I'm playing...I'll probably get back into GTA4 when Gay Tony comes out (tomorrow I think).

6-7 years ago it would have been a Half-Life mod made for free and freely available just like Counter-Strike, Natural Selection or Day of Defeat.

Today it's still a Half-Life mod, but one you pay full price for and it's not even as good as the mods that were free back in the day.

I'm actually boycotting all current and future zombie-themed games for the next few years. Even anything called Resident Evil.

It needs to fucking stop. The guys that made Critter Crunch for PSN are now working on "Zombie Tactics." Yes, a tactical RPG with zombies. Developers need to grow the fuck up and come up with some original ideas. This as epidemic as all those new vampire romance novels just because chicks liked Twilight.

I won't turn a game away with undead as one of the many enemies in a game, but really, people need to stop with the fucking zombie games. Nazis and zombie nazis, too.

Pre-orders only give you early access to the demo, it becomes public a little later

The new special infected bring a lot to the game. They may have slight differences, but they bring a lot to the table. Jockeys and Hunters have the same basic function, to stop a player from acting. The Hunter, as we've seen, pins a player to the ground and while in a sea of zombies can be extremely difficult to kill. Jockeys, on the other hand, ride the player's shoulders which make them easier targets, but they can also pilot them around corners and into otherwise dangerous situations.

Spitters aren't exactly dangerous unless you're cornered or are in a less-mobile position. Their spit can be used very strategically, but they leave a trail of acid behind them as they run. They look like an old once(currently?)-pregnant woman who lived in a trailer park. Perhaps, she hawks acidic water balloon-like fetuses at unwary survivors?

The Charger is an awesome addition. If you see it, you'll most likely only see it for half a second, unless of course you're in the back of the pack which means you'll be doing more than seeing it. Occasionally it'll charge straight into a wall, which is nice when you're a little overwhelmed.

                          Also, female boomers.

Witches now walk around during the day, and, to my surprise, climb fences like fucking ninjas. Unfortunately, they're more easily killed than before because they do latch onto a single target unless they're attacked by somebody else. I kabong'd one with a frying pan and it went down.

Tanks are still as badass as before, but now they can moonwalk and do the electric slide while blindly flinging cars into survivors who thought they were outside his field of vision.

Took a break from Borderlands and FFT to play DJ Hero on Tuesday, and I really like it. Yesterday I took a few hours to play Forza 3 and omfg my drawing skills on that game are no where near as good as they were on Forza 2. I like the concept of being able to sell designs though, it was a pretty interesting thought.
