Yeah, I was worried I wouldn't have space on my mem stick for a bit (Prinny is 200+ MB, Disgaea 800+; last time I checked memory stick it had around 1300MB free) , but it worked out fine. Downloading is only an issue of time; took two or three hours, but it's not like I could've gone to a store any quicker; plus in the time it would've taken me to go to a store, I would've lost the time I spent working on other things.

You know, I wonder how fast the PSP's UMD drive can spin. It would be pretty funny if Sony found a way to authenticate that the UMD was destroyed by having every PSP destroy the disks itself. Only feasible on PSP if the UMD's plastic cartridge can hold the disk's shrapnel in. Probably completely impossible at best, and dangerously stupid at worst, but a neat idea. Although, Sony, you do have framework in place for a rental system. Why not just have rentals of digital copies based on scanning in physical disks?

I said this on a forum over at GT Feba. Sony already did a similar promotion when Blu Ray came out (I think it was them, might have been M$ with HD-DVD but regardless it worked)

You send in the original UPC of the movie you own that you want upgraded to the new format, and they send it to you in X days/weeks. You going to tell me Sony couldn't do this for PSP owners? The hell if I'm re-purchasing 8 games.

Also, HOLY SHIT SE really broke Sephiroth in Dissidia WTF he's OP if you use him right >_> (still trying to get the Hang of Kuja; I can easily see why he's placed in the top 3 slots alonside Ex-Death & Golbez but he's still tricky... and too girly omfg...)

I'd also like to take the opportunity to shame SE for their tasteless Sephiroth fan service. His alt costume is him topless... like that wasn't done on purpose for all the fan girls out there >_> BAD SE, BAD! (needless to say I only had his alt costume on for a single battle lol). BBQ, I want you opinion on some of the alts; I haven't seen all of them, but a few of them are really sweet such as Squall & Cloud's. I also petition for every jackass who insists on calling Luneth "Onion Knight" even though FF3 has been amended since the DS release be shot/have their UMD broken on them and barred from playing Dissidia ever again Lastly, major props for Bartz's alt costume; it looks just like Amano's original art piece, though the Zeebra tank-top still burns my eyes.

The problem is, this requires a relatively massive effort on SE's part. They'd be losing money on it, unless they charged people for it; and while some of us are willing to pay a small fee to digitize, most people are going to be very picky about it ($5 for a heap of games might be reasonable; $1 per game might be too much for some people with large collections; $2 to digitize a single title might push it, etc.). At the very least, someone has to cover the cost of mail, an employee to sift through said mail, open it up, and retrieve UPCs, and an employee to link said mail with UPCs to PSN accounts. This would be a relatively massive scale in the short term, which would require hiring and then firing a lot of people in a relatively short amount of time. It would also probably involve buying building space to do it in. I doubt SCEA has a spare department sitting on their thumbs waiting for something like this.

This also ignores the entire problem with digitizing PSP games: You risk people buying UMDs very cheaply, used, registering the game as downloadable, and then reselling the UMD. Not quite as bad as everyone just passing UMDs around to get free games for all, but pretty bad nonetheless. You also piss off everyone who doesn't keep their cases around, which is probably much higher on portable systems. Any sort of digitization system is almost certainly going to include a UMD reclamation facility of some sort.

Using GameStop has the potential of being moderately profitable for everyone involved, using an already existing workforce (with quite a lot of idle time), and being widely available (compared to UMD killing kiosks, or Sony booths or the like).

Of course, the entire process is greatly simplified if you just trust consumers, but that'll never happen. The next best options are such a voucher program, or having periodic UMD scans to make sure someone still has the game.

And what you just cited Feba, is exactly why Sony shafted NA owners of the PS2 HDD. Japan is a vastly different environment from the states, and their concerns over piracy were justified IMO.

                  No.

There's a difference between fucking over legitimate customers and, more importantly, your BUSINESS PARTNERS like SE out of a fear that you might give a tool to pirates and simply not offering the best program you could because you're afraid people will exploit it. The PS2 HDD wasn't giving people the ability to copy their games and then throw them away any more than a DVD burner was. A UMD-rip with no owner checks or time-outs would give EVERYONE the ability to copy ANY game and then throw it away... or sell it to other people who could then copy that game.

The only way to correct that would be to have the disks be one-digital-copy-only; and you'd have to have unique IDs on every UMD for that. And honestly, if you're implementing that in retrospect, it's worthless, since you can just have people download new copies instead of buying UMDs over again just to rip them.

"Differences? Why, whatever are you talking about? If you dye Onion Knight's hair white, he looks just like Luneth, just with a different hairstyle, a different face, and a completely different outfit!"

I also find it fascinating that Onion Knight (FF3 NES's starting Job; FF3 DS's secret God Job) transforms into either Sage or Ninja (FF3 NES's God Jobs; regular jobs in FF3 DS.) Why, it's almost like Onion Knight is nothing like Luneth!

Because he totally doesn't appear shirtless twice in FFVII, one time technically being a battle. And because he had so many outfits in that game. Oh wait.

At least he doesn't try to hide it, unlike Sephiroth.

A lot of people don't regard the characters of FFIII DS as canon, but as characters retconned in years later. The story was greatly embellished upon as well, seeing as it was one of the early FF entries and never even made it the US until a few years ago. More story and then character names were grafted on to the game to make it more palatable for a modern audience.

By story of both FFIII DS and Dissida, Onion Knight is a high and honorary title, so he might have taken exception to simply being called Luneth. He's never addressed directly as "Onion Knight" by the other heroes, either, just by Cloud of Darkness. That said, I always just assumed Onion Knight was Ingus since he was in his high teens, had blonde hair and wore red.

But Onion Knight and Warrior of Light don't have names because they didn't originally, so they go the Tidus treatment of being referred to as "him" and "he" and little else. Would have been funny just to see them continue it with Tidus, but I guess they decided it was time to drop that gag.

I think the reason for the lack of naming, as old in thinking as t might be, is that the players were the heroes of FF and FFIII, maybe SE just didn't have the heart to take that away from them.

An errata is an errata and it and gave everyone a proper name & story. If you read ON's background info, it tells you it is infact Luneth, and I call hm luneth so

To my knowledge the 4 in FF1 are still nameless in every iteration, but if SE erratas that too then so be it.

Magic Pot helps but he's still rather crazy (I'd like to know how he's able to cancel out of an animation lock right at the start of an attack to evade Free Energy, the fastest HP attack in the game)

Then there's two Luneths. Luneth A is not Luneth B. Just because you could argue FF3 DS is the new canon, it doesn't suddenly mean OK is FF3 DS's Luneth. And if he's referred to as Onion Knight at any point then it's perfectly appropriate to call him Onion Knight.

Both Ice Climbers have names, but we still just call them Ice Climbers, therefore, Onion Knight only has to be Onion Knight.

Raidou Kuzunoha the 14th has a name, but since taking on the mantle of Raidou, he is Raidou Kuzunoha and that's how he's addressed.
