I couldn't be any more stoked for Robin, though. Playing a Tactician in Awakening is fun as all get out, so I can't wait to play one in Smash.

I was not expecting Robin to get added. Lucina, yes, and maybe Chrom, but Robin looks like an interesting addition.

My expectations were backwards. Lucina is too close to Marth, and there's a lot of competition for the remaining slots. I was expecting Robin to make the cut, and Lucina to get sidelined, being so close to Marth. EDIT: The Levin Sword was a really nice touch.

It's interesting that they seem to be making an effort to add more female characters. All of the first party, non-Pokemon newcomers have either been female or have a female skin except for Little Mac. Counting Ice Climbers, Zelda/Sheik separately and Samus/ZSS separately, Brawl had 6 females in total and only one was new. SSB4 has added at least 7 more (Rosalina, Palutena, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Mii Fighter, Lucina, Robin). Maybe we'll see Ms Pacman too?

I'd expect them to differentiate her from Marth, since they went to a lot of trouble to differentiate clones in Brawl and separate transforming characters in SSB4. Not that Smash Bros cares about canon but there's also no way for Lucina to know what Marth fights like.

I'm betting he'll be an alternate skin for Lucina.

Lucina does say she learned her moves from her father, so Chrom being a swap could be plausible. They also have some of the same sayings and could share a Final Smash while Robin just summons Chrom. I don't think they went to the trouble to draw Chrom in new Smash Bros. art just to have him be a final smash.

I loved the demo but was willing to wait for the right price

Payday 2 has been pretty goddamn beautiful these past several weeks. I would recommend it to anyone who has a crew they can get together for multiplayer shenanigans.

Robbing a bank is just a good way to spend an afternoon.

So they basically just added a couple new early missions and nerfed a bunch of stuff - didn't even raise the level cap for the beta. 1 new PvP map as well on Venus (which is actually a lot of fun) but they ruined the Moon map by adding weapons to the vehicles (which are now blatantly OP and completely ruin a once great map).


I have 4 spare beta codes if anyone wants one, just PM me. (2 are specifically for PS4, the other 2 I think are PS3 or PS4)

Anyways, playing the Destiny Beta. Loving it so far, there's just so much content in this Beta. It's probably one of the best Beta's I've ever played. Just when I think I've done everything, something else seems to pull me right back in. I'm now on the hunt for the Hallowed Ogre.

The vehicles really do need nerfing though, they are way the hell OP and ruin the map. Tired of losers getting in the tank and getting a 10+ KD because they just speed around one-shotting everyone while our guns barely dent his shields.

It's the equivalent to a tank in Halo minus any way to actually disable it or board it, everyone just has to focus fire and pray they don't get blasted it's ridiculous (or waste your super/heavy ammo which again not practical)

Eh, I like the Destiny beta. There's a lot of hidden depths even in the limited beta; hidden stuff all over the place to loot/activate/find.

PvP is ehhh, but that's basically all PvP. It's functional, and that's about all you can hope for.

I can see the customization thing being interesting later on, especially once you start finding rarer items; right now, we can't access anything above Uncommon, but I'm sure the full game has the range of rarities with increasingly powerful/interesting attributes.

Definitely one of the best betas I've had the pleasure of playing; everything works, no stupid crashing/lagging, gear works exactly as advertised, as do powers. Sure, a lot of stuff is locked off because of the level 8 limitation, but it's easy to see how they're expanding things once you get higher level.

Did you expect anything less than Bungie and let's be real here. I'm pretty sure if you get run over or shot with any vehicle, you're going to die quite easily. The fact of the matter it, the game is in Beta stage and as for entitlement baby, let me put it this way. There are a bunch of people already complaining about the game as is bud. Especially in the PvP bracket. If you want to do unbalanced PvP go do Iron Banner and for more "balanced" PvP do Crucible. I'm guessing you only did one?

What? I didn't get to try IB as I was playing XIV this weekend. There's a special event coming this Saturday btw around 2 PM Pacific that Bungie says will get us a permanent reward for launch, so that'll be cool.

I actually did manage to find a single Blue (rare?) item while playing the beta but it was a level 10 chest piece so I couldn't use it. It had a crapload of STR on it too (like 25).

I never once said the beta was bad btw, just that having played the Alpha I was rather underwhelmed since there wasn't much new, and as far as I'm concerned the addition of weapons to the vehicles on First Light (in Alpha they were strictly for getting around the map faster) ruins that map. The Pike is basically a Ghost from Halo with greatly jacked up firepower (and all vehicles take an incredibly amount of damage to destroy) while the "tank" thing is basically a super Wraith and is OP as fuck.

Not sure how familiar you are with Halo but if you are imagine a Wraith that's MORE durable, can't be boarded, both moves and fires faster (and the projectile itself travels much more rapidly as well and in a far lower arc) and tell me how that's even remotely fair. I'm not kidding when I say I see people get 8+ (1 guy was regularly getting 10 after each round) K/D just driving around the map demolishing people. It's not fun at all dealing with that kind of crap. The map itself is good just the vehicles ruin it.

And again to make the point clear, that's their KD ratios I'm talking about, not just 10 kills. For whatever reason the game doesn't show how many times you actually died in a match only your kill count and KDR but yeah seeing 10 and up every game purely because 1 vehicle is dumb. The other maps played out quite well and were fun but First Light is just garbage now. That's why this is a beta though so hoping they change it.


VOIP also seems to be busted, as even when in a fireteam my friend and I couldn't talk to each other and had to start a chat party which we felt was both odd and dumb - VOIP really shouldn't be an issue at this point.

Oh and apparently a lot of people are pissing and moaning that because the game is also for 360 and PS3, Bungie slowed both next gen and current to run at 30 FPS instead of 60 (which I agree is dumb) but I have yet to see where it's made that big of a difference. As a whole though I will admit I'm annoyed at devs who keep doing this - tough crap for the people running last gen, gives them more reason to get the new system. Unless PS3 and PS4 players (and likewise 360 and XB1) are going to be playing on the same servers, THEN that's (kind of) a valid argument though PC shooters have long since stopped caring.


As for the overworld/PvE experience my only real gripes are a general lack of loot (was hoping for something a bit closer to borderlands or diablo in terms of drop rates, on average I see 1 or 2 items an hour at best) and The Tower is rather small & crowded. But the artwork is just fantastic and the scale of everything is amazing - I especially love the lighting effects on the sky on the PS4. Destiny has some of the most realistic sunsets I've ever seen in a game.

Shovel Knight is glorious! Very rarely to a play a game that hits all its intended marks so well. Its got the heart of Megaman, but with a bit of Ducktales, Castlevania and modern-ish upgrade systems tossed in for good measure. It's pretty challenging, but handles death in a way that's part Kirby's Epic Yarn and part Dark Souls.



That's to say there are no "lives" but you lose a portion of your gems when you die and must recover them where you died if you want to get everything back and not face a game over. And if you die before you recover the original loss those gems are gone so death isn't as painful as DS.



The levels feel like Megaman and Ducktales mashed up in the best of ways while bosses feel like Megaman bosses found themselves in Dracula X. They can be rather brutal and a little more varied than MM bosses. The Phantom Knight felt like one of the nastier Castlevania Grim Reaper fights, particularly the Aria of Sorrow one.

Its on Wii U, 3DS and Steam now. No other versions were planned or are planned as of yet. This game was kickstarted back when the world was going down on Keiji Inafune for a game he still hasn't stopped begging for money over. Meanwhile I think this game got $300k, got the game done and merchandising done on that.
