      Watch Dogs is interesting.

Not terrible special I find, but still good. Like an odd mix of Assassin's Creed and GTA.

Got around to finishing Gunman Clive the other day. It plays like a classic Megaman game without the stage select and with Contra-ish power-ups. Its also totally sepia-toned to play up to the Old West theme.

All in all, its one of the better games I've played for something that was only $2 on the Nintendo eShop. It actually did better there despite being out on iOS longer.

So yeah, Watch Dogs was a fairly big letdown. It starts off strong but quickly descends into mediocrity.

7.5/10, rent but do not buy. I'm honestly very disappointed after all the delays that this is what we ended up with - basically a bad GTA clone with a lot of wasted potential. It had all the makings of a perfect game but between the terrible plot, lack of any real consequences aside from maybe a couple of scenes with alternate dialogue (and I mean like 2 or 3 at most, there's always just the 1 ending no matter what you do) and just having a single save file I'm writing it off.

I basically played Aiden like The Punisher, going out of my way to avoid hurting civies and cops but otherwise sparing no one save for the odd criminal side missions because you get more EXP and reputation for bagging them alive. Again there were a few parts where my decision to be so brutal weighed on him a bit but otherwise it didn't really change much. Apparently this was done deliberately, to maintain Ubisoft's idea of what Aiden should be - they wanted ambiguity but in doing so I feel they ruined the potential too much. You can't just go on a crazy vengeance quest vs say redemption or what have you it's all the same. In the end, it makes no difference how high the body count racks up and that pisses me off on multiple levels. In particular, the last mission of the game would have been a lot f'ing easier if I wasn't deliberately holding back.

And there's probably going to be a sequel as well so yay... bleh.

ITT: games with a single ending are inherently bad and binary moral choice systems are something we should be striving to attain.

Clearly someone has never played Planescape: Torment.

For real though, I'm not surprised to hear that it's garbage given how much hype it's garnered and how long Steam has been trying to get me to pre-purchase the damn thing.

Binary moral choices? There aren't *any* moral choices period. I mean technically there are, and it's all very subtle but it also doesn't amount to shit either. This game had a lot of potential for grey area exploration and Ubisoft just took the easy way out and gave us a bad GTA clone with too much side shit.

Seriously tired of this shit, the last few Assassin's Creed games have just been a minefield of fetch quests. It's good to have distractions/alternatives to the main scenario but holy crap they could scale it back a little, especially when it all stops being interesting after a just a few side missions and more of a chore to unlock the goodies that come with completing them all (which I might add are largely unnecessary anyway save maybe the skill points for doing Gang hideouts)

I didn't even want to go anywhere near the multiplayer - fuck having other players randomly invade my game and screw with me. Has it really gotten to the point where having a very strong SP component isn't enough and we *have* to have a MP mode added, no matter how ham-fisted it is? And I'm not gonna spoil the plot but suffice to say both Aiden and Damien are goddamn morons. You'll see what I mean if you play the game to the end.

                Yes.

Because no one in the industry knows how to craft a single player experience anymore.

Doing a 100% run on FFX-2 now. Eventually I get to Beyond: Two Souls.

Getting back into GW2 after a bit of a hiatus consisting of "playing lots of other games". Was fun while it lasted. Even finished a couple of them. Might finish some others eventually. (Looking at you, Pokémon Black.)

                        Final Fantasy III

It's available on Steam now and been playing it. Aside from V, it is the only pre-PS2 Final Fantasy I have not yet played. It really makes me appreciate how much more refined even the oldschool(ish) turn-based games have become. But then, I've come to dislike any instance where enfeebles/support spells seem useless. I also wish the the Warriors of Light had remained four nameless characters of your own creation rather than four named characters of paper thin personality.

Final Fantasy 6 asks you to respectfully reconsider (but in general you are right).

Not exactly playing, but debating on buying Divinity: Original Sin (as it releases on June 30), or picking up Neverwinter Nights 2 with all of the expansions again.

I was looking through the FFXIV Screenshots thread and I got really tempted to play for a few minutes, but then I slapped myself on the wrist and said, "NO AKS, THAT'S A BAD AKS!" Do not have the time for an MMO right now, WoW every two weeks is pretty much all I have time for between school and work.

Oh. I haven't tried the VI remake. What I meant was that I appreciate how much more refined present Final Fantasy games like Bravely Default or Final Fantasy Dimensions feel like they have much more nuanced battles, despite trying to recall the original turn-based Final Fantasy games. III is just so...bad. Battles are just tedious repetitions of attacking until dead, made no better by the fact you can hardly take 10 steps without having to do another.

I suspect that, if you don't sincerely want to do the endgame of XIV badly enough, XIV won't stick. I played for about two months until I finished the first storyline campaign. Then left while the experience was still untarnished by the endless grinding of the same dungeons for points to buy what amounts to starting endgame gear. I enjoy Praetorium as much as the next guy who has dreamed of riding Magitek armor. But...come on...really? Just doing runs on that dungeon day in day out?
