Currently playing:

LEGO Marvel Superheroes (PS4) - easily the best LEGO game ever, bar none.

Beyond: Two Souls (PS3) - only an hour or so into this game. It's cool, the controls and gameplay are better than Heavy Rain by a long shot, and the visuals are strikingly good. Not far enough in the game to pass judgment on whether it makes more sense than Heavy Rain, though.

Ys: Memories of Celceta (Vita) - This is a surprisingly great action JRPG. Fantastic action combat, minimal load times, solid production value, awesome soundtrack.

Dustforce (PS Vita) - Just picked this up yesterday so no idea what to expect here.

Candy Box (PC) - wtflol this game is amazing after coming back to it.

Dustforce (PS Vita) - Just picked this up yesterday so no idea what to expect here.

The controls for the PC version needed some serious tuning in my opinion. Here's hoping they're smoother for you on the Vita because that is a game that has serious potential to reach a meditative/zen(for lack of better terminology) state of gameplay, which we don't see often enough.

Lost Odyssey really is great though. It feels just like a classic FF game ^_^

Sakaguchi and Nobuo FTW. I hope the rumors of a sequel are true - I just beat Disc 1 tonight.

Ugh, Bravely Default on Hard mode. I like how even the random encounters can be challenging and the boss battles really keep you on edge; although it's a "Final Fantasy" game, I'm reminded of many of the reasons I love Dragon Quest VIII. I just wish the boss battles were designed in such a way that it doesn't take like 20-30 minutes to complete them. Tough shit when I'm not at home and I start to run out of batteries in the middle of one.

Or am I just doing it wrong? I'm keeping up with gear and I don't seem underleveled.

Seriously, Lost Odyssey is awesome. LOVE IT!

Though the 2 kids are clearly Palom & Prom 2.0, I still really enjoy the whole Mortal & Immortal aspect of the game. It feels like a modern version of FF9 in so many ways. Playing this game makes me wonder all the more just where the hell SE went so horribly wrong, because Sakaguchi's proving that the magic's still there, just the company is ignoring the lessons of his example.

Seriously they completely ruined the combat from the previous 2 games, there was no need to mess with any of it. Furthermore, once you get the shock gloves enemies become entirely trivial (or so I read on IGN) as the damn things are beyond OP. So you have a broken combat system that doesn't work right, and then you can compensate for that with 1 blatantly OP piece of gear? WTF?!

Nevermind how ridiculous and nonsensical the story is (yeah OK, so Batman's meeting all these dinks for the 1st time in 1 night? lolwut?)


Even more jarring was the opening... so, it turns out Gotham DOES perform executions, which begs the almighty question that's been boggling my mind for years: WHY IN THE SWEET **** HAVE YOU NOT PUT ALL THESE CRAZY ASSHOLES DOWN YET?!

The TESO beta got me back into playing Tera. Makes me worry for TESO really since Tera does everything it does, but a LOT better and is F2P done right. It hides nothing behind a paywall and the bonuses for subscription are attractive enough to tempt you to sub (Bonus Dailies, bonus XP and gold from quests, Xp boosters that recharge daily, free fast mount), but are things you can play without.

The combat system in Tera is awesome and makes melee classes very fun to play because of all of the movement and action oriented combat. It's probably the closest thing you will ever get to an actual Sword Art Online MMO (it actually kind of makes me wish for a version of it on the Occulus Rift) as well. I dislike the aesthetic of armour and weapons in Korean MMOs, and the music tends to be pretty generic and limited, but I can look past that due to the sheer fun factor of the combat system.
