I can't say it's a good game, but I don't regret my purchase in the slightest. It's one of those guitar hero style rhythm games, but instead of watching a crowd you're controlling a character that's beating up enemies. Connecting all the hits/notes feels a lot more rewarding and fluid than in other games, but a missed hit also feels significantly more jarring and throws me off pretty badly. They included a feature where certain enemies can hold power ups which require additional execution to obtain, which in the middle of a frantic section of a song can lead to some interesting choices. Do you take the health pack you desperately need and risk throwing off your rhythm and getting pummeled to death, or do you bank on keeping the beat to ride out the current wave of enemies? I kind of like it, as half the reason I picked the game up was to give me something other than Street Fighter on which to practice getting rhythms down on my stick and that throws in a small bit of decision making to the mix.

It's also got an amusing story as the backdrop for all the stage changes and fights. Honestly I don't think it was necessary, but it's done in a charming manner that makes it endearing.
Which version are you playing? I don't recommend playing the PC version with a stick; later on you get 3 simultaneous red enemies on some beats which is impossible to do with a stick without some weird button mapping.

I like the PS Vita version. The D-Pad + face buttons combination works best for me.

Also has a couple of really obnoxious trophies on Playstation platforms; getting 100% perfect hits on Expert/Master on a story mission, and getting a 500+ combo on Expert/Master are difficult, to say the least (and I'm pretty good at rhythm games). I've got the 500+ combo one, but that perfect beat one is going to take a lot more practice than I have time for I think.

I play Juri in Street Fighter 4. Don't you dare tell me it's impossible to hit three buttons simultaneously on a stick.

To answer your question: PC, since I don't own any modern consoles aside from the Wii.

100% completion in rhythm games is for mad people. All the time going into achieving that could be much better spent playing other games.

        Ok, not impossible, but awkward.

I'll certainly give you that one.

I know I've mentioned Guns of Icarus Online already, but I'm going to mention it again because it's simply that much fun. It kind of hinges on having a crew of people you know and making sure at least one of them enjoys piloting the ship, but it's a very satisfying clusterfuck of an adventure.

KickBeat continues to grow on me. The add your own songs feature is well done, if a bit simplified. Although you can go in and edit it beat by beat from the looks of it, I just haven't tried because I'm not that kind of madman.

However, I am the kind of madman who has picked up Street Fighter IV again. I'm starting to think that game is entirely about finding the right people to fight. When I'm playing my friend there's a good back and forth to the matches and I can pick up tricks and tactics along the way. When I wander off into a match with some random player I get steamrolled all night long and don't learn a goddamn thing, which just leaves me in a state where I want to rip out everyone's spine with my teeth. The fighting game genre desperately needs to figure out how to measure player skill and create some sort of matchmaking, because right now it just ends with lopsided matches all night long.

Even though I still don't like the new Dante, I am enjoying DmC.

The dialogue is crap (wasn't expecting much to begin with) but the combat is actually some of the best the series has seen - only DMC 3 was anywhere close to this good. Not to say the others were bad (well, except 2 - 2 was just god awful in every regard) but this game is amazingly well polished and loads more fun than GoW or any other action game/series. It's doubly surprising given what a cock up heavenly sword was. Glad to see Ninja Theory got their act together (well, as far as gameplay is concerned at least).

I also picked up Lost Odyssey today, gonna try that out after I finish DmC. Also, side note: This month is "Player Appreciation Month" for Battlefield 4 and they are giving a way a free battle pack each day (bronze during the week and silver on weekends).

Just to drive home how bad the dialogue is in DmC though...

Did you see their blog post on balance? It boiled down to: "you have these concerns, and we acknowledge them, but it's fine so shut up", on every major point of imbalance the player base has been hitting on since day one. I'm now using the ACE 23 exclusively, with the tag 23OP, to see if I can't get more people on the forums complaining. Here are some highlights:

Finally, the goal of 12G SLUGS is a long range alternative for shotguns, players wishing to defeat body armor at close range with shotguns should utilize the 12G FLECHETTE rounds instead.
Flechette rounds were made for engaging medium-range targets. They do less damage than buckshot but have a lot less drop-off in terms of damage over distance. They will not out-perform buckshot at close range. How do they not know this?

The ACE 23 is out performed at close range, long range, and has competitors at medium range. We see no need for a change at this time.
The ACE 23 may be out-performed on a per-range basis, but across all ranges there is no equal. It only really falls off at long range.

Below Radar was never a part of the original design for BF4’s locking mechanics, and while we have discussed allowing a low altitude state to cause lock on to take longer, the added frustration of being unable to lock on to targets does not offset the added danger to helicopters at low altitude.
There is NO "frustration of being unable to lock on to targets". You can actually pre-lock when they're too far away, which gives you an instant lock the moment they're within range of your Stinger/IGLA. Otherwise, a normal lock takes about 1.5 seconds, or 1.8 seconds if the target is using the Stealth upgrade.

As a guaranteed get out of jail free card, aircraft counter measures are only designed to allow a vehicle to escape distant danger, not to enable the aircraft to be immune to lock on weaponry.
Counter-measures are not a get out of jail free card. They're unreliable to the point where Stingers/IGLAs sometimes completely ignore them. They have a 20 second cool-down, which is ridiculous considering a single engineer is throwing Stingers at you every five seconds. Not to mention that first hit will almost completely immobilize you, leaving you helpless against the next ten Stingers.

I don't know who's running the show over at DICE now, but they're a bunch of fucking idiots.

Wish I'd gone AC4 instead of BF4 Hell I'd even buy it on Wii U

AC4 was my most pleasant surprise of the last holiday season. I went in with low expectations, but the game is honestly very good. Not perfect, certainly not game of the year material, but fun and streamlined in a way that the AC series hasn't been since AC2. Helps that the PS4 version is quite stunning as well (that water!).

Yeah ACIV blew me away. It was like someone took Sid Meier's Pirates and made it in HD with a modern game engine. You can pretty much ignore the main storyline and go off to be a pirate from the get go if you want to.

                                PC version is also great.

Do not - I repeat - DO NOT buy the Wii U version. It's an ugly and jaggy-filled mess, runs at a poor frame-rate. It's basically a flaky port of the 360/PS3 version. Ubisoft knew they weren't going to make very much money on that version, so they paid the Wii U port lip service in terms of time and resources, and it shows. Also, Wii U likely won't get the DLC either.

If you're planning to eventually buy a PS4, just wait until you have the PS4 and get ACIV for cheap when you do. Don't settle for a distant second best, the difference in gameplay fluidity and visual quality is worth the wait. If you wait long enough, there will likely be a "complete" edition out at some point for PS4 with all of the DLC included.
