300+ hours and I have finally reached the top rank. Not that I am anywhere near done with this game, I haven't gotten to fight the true "last boss" type monster yet, but it's been so long and it's nice to know there will be no more doing quests to rank up. Now I get to have my fun and kill whatever I want to make armor out of all day long.

So playing more of that LifeLine.

Let me give you a visual:

The PS2 is sitting on the floor, surrounded by wires and DVD cases.

In order to play this, you must have a headset (microphone) on, as well as the controller (for things like activating switches for the other character, viewing the map and inventory, etc.). So that's two wires running across the room.

As some of you may know, Feba usually listens to his PS2 games over a pair of headphones. This means wearing the headset around the neck, with the microphone pointed up. It also means another cord running across the floor, from the PS2 to Feba, plus an adapter to convert the TV cable into a headphone jack.

Additionally, the A/C is broken or some shit, and Kansas sucks really, really hard, which means it's hot as hell. This means Feba has taken off his shirt. Feba is also fat. Not 'Holy crap how does he fit in chairs' fat, but with enough extra weight to have formed formidable moobs.

The entire point of the headset is that you are talking to the character on screen.

So you have a fat guy, sitting in a sectional sofa next to two cup holders (both likely full of large glasses of water), wearing headphones, with a microphone on, holding a DualShock 2, talking to video game characters.


This is either heaven or hell, folks.

On the game itself, it's still very cool, although there is one thing that future excursions into the genre should learn: don't make the combat completely voice controlled! Not only does it make it hard to pick things up, and poor recognition going from frustrating to deadly, but it's just stupid. Let the character think and react by itself, but with voice commands for advice, like weak points, 'look out behind you!', etc. Also, make it easier to figure out what things are. Instead of requiring someone to figure out that something is a box, make it possible to say "What is that thing over there?", and have the character go into some sort of routine to establish what the player is talking about, instead of vice versa.

I'm really enjoying it, and I really hope that more games pick up this formula-- especially with the capacity of Blu-Ray, and the increased abilities of voice recognition software. It'd be wonderful to see video games driving interactive AI in the same way they drive computing power. Video games could be the new porn in terms of moving technology forward.

Oblivion with guns.

There was a big topic about that on gamefaqs. Nobody seems to like that statement.

I've never played Oblivion so I might look into it since it is a players choice now. (Edit>>Now that I think about it, I did play Oblivion on PC, but my old computer was too slow to play it. I ended up only playing about 20 mins and then getting off.)

Fallout 3 is heavily overrated IMO...


Yeah it's a good game but the story was way too short. I would have preferred a longer, more thought out plot with a good chunk of side stuff rather than something a 12 year old could have written coupled with an endless expanse of shit (and by shit I don't mean the quality of the game)

Doesn't help that all the DLC is PC/360 exclusive - _ -'

Mal you must have the PS3 version. (I had the PS3 version, but when I found out that it didn't have DLC yet, I said "MFWTF" and took it back.)

My main character is 20 almost 21. When I get a minute I'll be back on it to finish Broken Steel and download the new DLC that was supposed to come out today (Another new DLC in about 1 1/2 months).

I also need to finish Mass Effect before ME2 and the new DLC come out. I made it to the last mission when I rented it and then had to take it back. I recently bought the 2 Disc Special Edition of Mass Effect but I just haven't got around to playing it yet.

Ask the main character of lifeline about She Spies and the Actress that voices the character, she'll go into a little bit about them. A fun, if odd, easter egg.

Got Devil Survivor on DS today, pretty good stuff so far, but they skewed it a bit too anime and some of the aspects of the battle system feel more like a throwback than they should be. Its OK for Dark Spire and Etrian Odyssey - part of the point behind those games is to be a throwback - its just not what an SMT title should be doing.

I do like the fact that this is more of a "squad based" SRPG in feel, though, and the battle system once again encourages exploiting weaknesses for extra turns and making your enemy lose them.

I didn't really think too much of the demo that I tried of that.

Anways per usual I'm well behind the times because I play too much FFXI, a friend let me borrow Ninja Gaiden II and I downloaded Mega Man 9 and Braid, kinda rotating between all 3 of those when I have time. I'm not sure which is more retardedly hard at this point, Mega Man or NG.

Until you get to Dr. Wily's Castle and the game difficulty ratchets up another five levels (I HATE YOU STUPID LAVA THINGS - though I did finally find a good way to pass them).

SMT: Devil Survivor is pretty good so far, I've been able to stomach the bad character art. Its just too anime for an SMT title. That whole Castlevania anime thing people hated for Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin? Pretty much the same thing here. Kaneko and Meguro are missed here, but its still a great game otherwise and a pretty unique twist on the turn-based strategy RPG.

Broke down and got the PS2 version of Ghostbusters, which has turned out to be pretty fun, but you can tell the Wii version got all the love. Sloppy video compression, atrocious load times and low-res textures even for PS2. They could have tried a little harder. I'm probably going to end up getting the Wii and PS3 versions in the long run anyway though. I just wanted my Ghostbusters fix and for that, its awesome.
