What Pokemon X/Y lacked in story, it really made up for in terms of location and even made interesting use of French folklore. Its probably the best Game Freak has done with setting and theme thus far.

All professors will also have a hard time following up Professor Sycamore, largely because he has more personality than any of the others.

I think people were just expecting more from the story following Black and White, which were really anomalies in the series and not the norm. It did manage to do some interesting things that could've been expanded upon more, such as having one of the Elite 4 be a member of the villainous gang. I don't want the Pokemon games to just be so unambitious that they don't even bother to reach outside the established formula. But then, it wouldn't be Pokemon if they strive to become deeper and more overwrought with each game.

Besides, the question of just what business humans have capturing animals, and making them fight each other, was a long time coming anyway. Next time, it'd be interesting if human technology in that universe advanced to the point where human characters might start asking if they even need Pokemon anymore.

In general I agree with you though, he seemed more involved than the average professor. I felt bad for my rival though.

One thing that always bothered me about the very first professor, Professor Oak, was his involvement at the very end of the game. He sure makes some pretty judgmental comments about Blue just after Red beats him. Treats him like some kind of idiot after Blue clearly accomplishes a task only a handful of trainers in the world ever do by beating all the gyms and becoming a league champion. It's made even more strange since Blue's story continues well beyond the first generation, unlike any of the other rivals. It's not like he's some deadbeat trainer just picking random fights on the roadside.

Could be worse. Imagine if he'd been Agatha's grandkid?

I think the weirdest thing about the whole story is how he got passed over for not just League Champion, but Elite Four too. How is Koga more qualified than Blue again?

Well the Viridian Gym spot opened up and Red vanished without a trace. And who says Blue didn't become Champion and Lance booted him out before the game, leaving open an Elite Four slot that Koga took?

Blue may well have realised he liked being a gym leader. I mean being in Viridian City does mean he would be living and working close to his family.

Had that happen to me with a Jolteon. So I have to hatch a new Eevee with the right nature and grind for a new Thunderstone each time -_-

Right now, I'm trying to get a Marvel Scale Dratini with +SpA/-Att nature. If I could at least get a female with the right nature, I could give it an Everstone and breed it with my Marvel Scale Dragonair.

Subbed still to FFXIV:ARR and SWTOR...

The boyis playing my WoT account and still doing the latest Zelda game thing on handheld.

Loving the space based shooting in SWTOR tho it seems somewhat shoe-horned in to the main game...imo

Since today's a snow day, I decided to use the free time to finish XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

That game is marvelous. I can't recommend it enthusiastically enough. What are you doing still reading this post? Go buy XCOM.

FINALLY got a Hearthstone beta key, and going to stream later when I get back from the gym and after dinner ^^

2nd platinum completed on PS4: Knack.

On to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Game is amazingly pretty on PS4, gameplay feels much improved over both AC: Revelations and AC3 as well.
