Quick check on Newegg.com shows the commodity USB 2.0 flash drives still commanding $17 ~ $25 for 64GB. There isn't exactly a huge market for PS Vita memory cards, so I would think selling them at $20 would be a money loser for Sony.

$30 or even $35 may be a more reasonable price to ask for, depending on how exactly Sony implementes the system. (Not that Sony would listen to little guys like us, of course.)

Been playing Dungeon Defenders with TM. Started new characters and beat the first boss of the campaign.

Notably, my computer overheated just after the important part, but a quick check revealed that my progress and loot thus far has been preserved. Of course, I could barely fit a pre-bed chat before my computer decided to quit on me again. So now I'm laying in bed, checking DiV on my phone, because I apparently have trouble with the concept of "sleeping" at the appropriate hours.

Part of me is actually hoping that they will come out with a redesigned PS Vita that either has an SD Card slot for game data or replaces the proprietary memory with the memory stick entirely.

One of the main issues is Sony being so secretive about how much it actually costs to make the bloody things. It is difficult to tell if it is Sony or the Retailer that is being greedy. It is more then likely both but I never attribute malice where stupidity is an perfectly plausible explanation.

I'm not sure if you have heard of Hanlon's Razor . It can basically be summed up as "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.". I doubt Sony did it to screw over customers. Sony most likely did it because it's Sony being Sony.

Related, a combination of Occam's Razor (applied in the dictionary definition sense which can be summed up as "If you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras"), and Hanlon's Razor is a hilarious way to shoot down Conspiracy Theorists. Basically: just as it's wrong to find complicated conspiracy where simple incompetence will explain everything, it's also wrong to presume evil motives where simple mental retardation may be the explanation.

Anyway, using both it's pretty easy to see that it is pure incompetence on Sony's part when it comes to memory card pricing. Of course Hanlon's Razor doesn't take into account ignorance so there is probably that to consider too, especially when it comes to the Game Industry in general.

It's better in terms of overall gameplay, but you really need to understand what your skills do and cater your weaponry and playstyle to whatever build you're focusing on. Borderlands 1 you could more or less just play as a straight up shooter if you wanted and basically get away with it without ever spending a point on skills if you were good enough, Not so in BL2 because enemies tend to be huge damage sponges.

Like IM said, it's better as an overall package, but BL2 I find is a strange inversion of Diablo 3 - what D3 fucked up, BL2 got right and vice versa it's really creepy.

That said, I don't know what I did to break the RNG in my favor but I somehow managed to get like 5 legendary guns in the span of 20 seconds early Friday morning around 12:30 am... was in the wildlife exploitation preserve, popped off a BA Skag and BAM! Legendary AR. Moved on and got another 1 from seomthing else, don't exactly recall, and then I got to that room right before Bloodwing's holding area with the 4 tiny boxes on the right wall that usually spawn loot midgets.

Each box I opened 1 popped out, killed it, and BAM legendary gun... 4th midget actually dropped me and while I got a 2nd wind off it, no Legendary that time lol. Wish I'd been recording it as I could scarcely believe it myself...

EDIT: It may have been the super BA loader that dropped the 2nd legendary now that I think about it. Slag FTW (every mob that dropped one was slagged - might be purely coincidental but that's just 1 more reason for me to always carry a slag gun).

2~3 swings -> Swirling Assault -> Shining Prism (quick cast) -> Cloud Pierce -> Death Knell -> Grave (I quick-cast off Rock Trine).


Deals a tonne of damage and with my current skills setup doesn't even cost much TP.

Still playing Dragon's Crown. I'll get around to Tales of Xillia and Dynasty Warriors 8... sometime I guess?

Ducktales: Remastered is waiting in the wings too, and couldn't pass up ridiculous PSN deal on Touch My Katamari for <$4.

Disney Infinity and XCOM: The Bureau coming next week too. Sigh. The backlog just keeps piling up and that's even before the new consoles arrive. Maybe the inevitable lull in releases will give me a chance to get caught up, but I doubt it.

That's one of the biggest failings of BL2, and Kotaku took 'em to task over it in a fairly good article.


Like I said, Borderlands 2 is a weird (though still very enjoyable experience with friends) inversion of Diablo 3.


D3 got the basics of the combat right, complete with invidualized loot and in the recent patches is actually in a fairly tolerable state, just the itemization is still crap, over 75% of the runes are junk and there's just no real serious effort made to get you attached to the world and it's characters.

BL2 on the other hand, has a great cast (Jack is one of my favorite villains ever) fairly balanced and well thought out skill trees, and the loot is quite good. But the AI is just too generic/dumb, and the game resorts to some rather shitty tactics to inflate the difficulty. Typically, the most intelligent thing an AI may do is get behind cover on occasion, otherwise they just blindly charge and fire at you - there's no tactics involved whatsoever.

For example, the leap from Normal to True Vault Hunter is akin to transitioning from Normal straight into Hell difficulty in D3 - most enemies that were Flesh are suddenly armored, making Fire a lot less useful and corrosive much more relevant. Their damage and HP skyrocket as well, often dropping your shield in 2~3 hits. Ultimate Vault Hunter is even crazier with enemies having roughly 4x their HP in TVM, as well as HP regen (this is supposed to be offset by Slag causing 3x rather than 2x damage and a much faster weapon swap speed, but a lot of the most aggravating enemies like Constructors are immune to Slag to begin with).


And then there's Goliath Blasters. What. The. Fuck. Gearbox... They're basically Goliaths that don't rage, but instead act like a Gunzerker with twin Rocket Launchers that never have to reload.


I still adore BL2, but I sincerely hope that Gearbox gets their shit together and tones things down a bit for 3.
