Dragon Quest VIII, slowly but surely finishing it as I decide from day to day whether to bring my DS for the train ride home or not. Wish they had made it a little more like VIII though where you could see all the characters in battle, much like they did with Monsters: Joker. The whole first-person view thing of all the earlier games never really did it for me.

Tried out Atlus' new MMO today. Same as any other generic korean grind to level 5000 at 0.01% exp per monster MMO.

Tried getting into Team Fortress 2 again, but the game feels ruined since the Scout update. Seems like they are tossing game balance out the window just to add cool shit, and on top of that you can't even unlock the cool shit any more, you have to play the game for 900 hours and hope for it to randomly drop into your inventory. A better idea would have been to keep the unlock system in so the dedicated players can still unlock their shit and also add a random drop thing so even a casual player can get stuff. No, wait, no, that makes too much sense to implement.

Think I'm going to give FF7 another shot. Last time I played it, got stuck at the gas chamber scene beacause Barret and Cait Sith suck ass. Was watching a speed run of FF7 (yes. lawl. At least %90 cutscene too), I didn't realize you could freaking run away from the guards.

If I have my old save on a memory card, I'm definitely getting it back out. Not sure if I want to play everything up to that point over again, but it really is a great game, if a little overhyped.

Also, that guy is insane. He makes boss fights look easy with zero grinding, whereas I grinded for hours and got my ass kicked.

Currently playing: Red Faction 3

It's pretty much GTA on mars. It's fun crashing through buildings, but bringing them down isn't as easy at it seems. Multiplayer is bleh.

The most lolworthy parts of the game are the crazy ass civillian drivers. Every time a fire fight breaks out they careen right into the middle of it and end up running over my team. Of course, whenever somebody on your side dies you're penalized for it making it a double whammy that a civilian is now in the middle of your firefight after killing your teammate.

Eh? You can still unlock stuff. And what game balance is being thrown out the window? (I'm genuinely curious; I haven't been playing it for too very long so I'm not sure if you're referring to some specific weapons or what.)

They only recently added the unlock achievements back into the game, they were not there originally after the Spy and Sniper update.

About game balance: pretty much every class but Demoman had something that easily countered it. Snipers were easily countered by a Spy, Spies are easily found by Pyro, Heavy can easily counter a Pyro that isn't directly in his face, etc.

Now, Snipers have the shield that completely prevents a Spy from touching them at all and a jar of piss to prevent them from cloaking, Scouts have a baseball that can stun you long enough for anyone to walk up and end your life, and Medics can have an infinite chain of ubers with the Ubersaw.

TF2 has basically become the Smash Bros. of FPS games. All thoughts of balance are thrown out the window for the sake of having a bunch of neat stuff.

But the Spy got a gun that crits on head shot. Some people are even crying foul that the gun is so good. "I remember when spies used to be clever, now they just have to shoot their fucking gun." A Sniper with a Razorback is just as easy to headshot as one without it is easy to backstab. Easier, probably, since you don't have to be at point-blank to pull it off. It's not just Snipers, if forced to a Spy can kill many classes using that gun. It's happened to me frequently while playing as Soldier and Demoman.

Spy also got an invisibility watch that sacrifices ammo recharging for the ability to stay invisible indefinitely if you stay put, as well as a Feign Death watch (that gives them 90% damage reduction while using it, allowing them to survive backstabs, 16 sticky bombs, or even trains.) If Jarate's getting you down, you could use the Dead Ringer to fake your inevitable death and get away. And I've never seen a Medic chain ubers, because it takes 4 Ubersaw hits to get an Uber in the first place, and it's not like you can Uber yourself and use the ubersaw at the same time. How is a medic going to score those four hits while keeping his allies alive and not dying himself?

EDIT: Oh yeah, and you have 50% damage reduction while you're stunned from the Scout's Sandman, and they have to forfeit their double jump to use it. It's also on a 15 second cooldown unless they can find the ball sooner. And it's also a damned nice way to stop an Ubercharge, making Scouts better team players. It's not a strictly superior option; while the loss of double jump can be remedied with the Force A Nature shotgun (which also has its drawback in that it can only hold two shots...), a Scout with Force A Nature and no Sandman effectively has a triple jump.

And the Sniper forgoes his submachinegun to use Jarate, leaving him gimped if he's caught in close range unless he has the Huntsman bow. But if he has the Huntsman, he's gimped at longer ranges compared to a Sniper that still has the rifle.

Finished Armored Core: For Answer today. Unexpectedly short game, but quite a bit of fun and I still have the Collared rank matches to go through.

I've decided to stop playing Halo Wars indefinitely.

Until Robot severely nerfs Warthogs, I refuse to play such a fucking piece of shit game. I've never seen such a horribly unbalanced RTS in my life, it's absurd how powerful one god damned scout unit is.

Currently playing Cross Edge for the PS3. 15 minutes in and there's already and incredibly slutty character with nothing but suggestive lines. Yay Morrigan!

I just noticed that was out the other day and I wanted to play it too.

Just bought InFamous and playing it, but I'm looking forward to playing Prototype next week. Also looking forward to downloading MvC2 and Battlefield 1943. Played Sims 3 and I'm waiting for epic User Created DLC before I really get into the game. They are also saying that there will be a tool that'll make Sims 2 content compatible with Sims 3, YES!
