I'd like to see if Awakening is the same or if they brought the scale of the fights back down and removed the battle save.
What they did is add a "Casual Mode" that can be applied to any difficulty setting so if any of your units are taken down in a battle, the death is only temporary - they're still in your party after you win.

I know. What I meant to say is that if there's also a battle save, I wouldn't combine Casual mode with it because that's just too safe. I think the only way to strike a good balance between difficulty and fun is permadeath + battle save or no permadeath but no battle save.

OMG EA just put out a trailer for the final BF3 expansion "End Game" due out in March... omg I can't wait ^___^

CTF & Air Superiority both look like tonnes of fun. All out aerial warfare!!! No ground combat at all!

I'm looking forward to the air combat, but I have my concerns. First of all, only in jet is air combat fun. In a helicopter, the fun is in taking out ground targets. Second, it's too easy for one team to completely shut out the other because of the time it takes to get aircraft back in the air and back in the game. It's way too easy to hit them on the runway before they get off the ground.

They fixed that somewhat actually, they added a little bit of spawn protection so you can't outright kill a Jet as it's taking off (though it's limited and so it just requires adjusting the timing of your strafe run).

Also, for all we know, they could set it up so you automatically start airborne. My big concern is more that once one team has lost all or even most of their pilots, it's just going to be a major team-raping with multiple lock ons. Basically as soon as another enemy player comes up at your team everyone locks him and soon as them flares/ECM are down... that guy's gonna get instantly smoked by missiles.

That, and it'd be kinda boring if it just turns into everyone getting stuck in their own individual dogfights. Idk, we'll have to see how it works out. Attack Helicopters aren't TOTALLY useless either - yes they are far more fun to use against ground targets, but their missiles lock faster than a Jet's do so if you're a good pilot (and have a competent gunner) you can still do well.

lol, I just hope the damn dirt bikes aren't as fragile as the ATV was in AK - damn thing explodes in a massive nova from the slightest crash...

Playing Fire Emblem on Casual Mode would be like playing Mass Effect 2 with no chance of anyone dying. My FemShep romanced and lost Thane in that run and the way she handled the loss was totally different from how she handled things he survived into ME3. When I played the original GBA Fire Emblem, I lost Sain. He was a bit of a arrogant, sexist pig who didn't really take orders well, but him getting permanently sidelined changed the man he'd be from there on out. He could have married Fiora had he not been injured, but since the injury whatever charm he held for her was lost.

Playing Casual Mode and missing details like that would feel cheap.

I think I just did 2 of the dungeons in Ni no Kuni in the wrong order. At a certain point, you have a choice of 3 to go in any order. But the first one I went to was murder while the second was underwhelming. Pretty much press X the whole way through. But the first one I chose to go to? Even the regular encounters were murdering me left and right.

I did manage to Serenade a Turban Legend though. That familiar is a beast.

EDIT: Oh. Bah, just looked it up. Turban Legend is a third stage metamorphosis. No wonder it seemed so strong...

Still looking for a dragon-ish Familiar. Just cause I love dragons.

If you've got access to Tengri (the purple dragon you can ride on), go find Dinoceros. It's a very rare spawn on the plateaus west of the Temple of Trials. Insaaane attack stats, and you get him in 1st form at level 1 so you can crank his stats when he's leveled up properly.

Regarding the Ni no Kuni soundtrack not having all of the game tracks, looks like my prayers were heard. Joe Hisaishi's Facebook page just announced that all of the music is available on pre-order from France:

Way Shop : Produit - Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch OST

Kind of a pain for me because I already owned the original one or months now, but eh, I really like the music of the game and want all of it. So I'll just get it again.

Fought a lot of them now. Dinoceros seems very disinclined to join me...

That would definitely make it realistic, though.

Ni No Kuni, yeah I think I'm gonna have to go in debt for this game.... Damn you IM and Ketaru

Dinoceros has one of the lowest Charm chances in the game (6%). You can improve that slightly with the 3rd rank Merit Stamp upgrade Jack of Hearts (requires 290 Merit Stamps to unlock the first 2 tiers, then purchase it).

He's totally worth it though. Gains a metric ton of Attack at level 2, then 8 points per level after that, and he gets huge chunks of Defense and even a reasonable amount of Magic Defense per level too. This only drawback is that he's slooooow, but you can always run with your character and call him in front of an enemy to kick its butt (or use one of his skills).

Also a pro-tip: If you don't see one near you, cast Gateway to go to Motorville and cast it again to come right back. All enemies nearby will respawn, giving you another chance to find more Dinoceros.

Yeah thanks. Anyway, after I complained about not being able to get one yesterday, I actually managed to get one. Whining works!

I'm at what I believe is the last stretch of the game now. Quite a few surprises towards the end. Not the least of which is a revealed 4th party member.

EDIT: Finished the game! I feel like doing it all over again, only better this time around. But it's such a time commitment to stick with only one game. And I haven't even finished DMC: Devil May Cry yet.

I picked up Legend of Grimrock yesterday.

It's the kind of game where you lose track of time and suddenly realize you should have gone to bed hours ago.

Still poking around with my Vita since I got it monday. Haven't really done much with it besides play Castlevania: SOTN and some Persona 4 Golden so far. This is partly just because Fire Emblem demands a great deal of attention and getting all my old PSP games downloaded and stored away on my laptop took some time on the Vita. Lots of setting up in that respect, but it was nice to see most of what I bought for PSP was available to me. No MGS or Castlevania Bloodlines, though, which is odd considering most of their related titles are up.

Saw SE has a PSN sale on FF games this week. 50% off select games (except FFIII, which is still $20) I picked up FFT: War of the Lions for $5, but I'm curious to know of FFIV: The Complete Collection is worth it.

SE loves to toy with Final Fantasy IV. Its like the most re-released game they have. I had the GBA and DS updates and then they released this a couple years back before porting the DS version to iOS, so I'm just torn on whether this is the final version or not. If the PSP version has all the gameplay from FFIV DS, I suppose that's good enough.

Seriously, though SE, move on to remaking FFV and FFVI, leave this one alone.
