Part of the change is that ME's character faces were based on real actors and models, so as the graphics got better, so did the faces.



Rana McAnear and Samara right there.

Liara went from scientist to information broker. After having to assist you in killing her own indoctrinated mother and becoming an information broker, she went from scientific interest in Prothean artifacts to needing to find them by any means necessary if it meant helping stop the Reapers. Had she remained the naive scientist of the first game, she wouldn't have had much of a character arc. I think her voice actress was just selling the character too hard in the first game.

Poking my head in to say hey to all the old faces.
Currently dabbling in replaying old Zelda games. Wind Waker and Link to the Past. Played GW2 recently, not sure if I'm going back or not, though. At this point in life I start way more games than I ever finish.

Assuming I have a passing interest in FPS. Is Black Ops 2 worth the investment as an upgrade from the other ones?

As far as CoD goes, it's the best entry by far. But it's still lolCOD. I only got it because I usually split on it with my brother (he likes the series and I sorta do, just wish they'd make a good one...) and well, he really hates this one lol so I'm gonna trade it in once I max my gamerscore on it.

Re-finished ME2.

Everyone lived except Thane, Zaeed and Jacob. Accceptable losses.

I would have preferred Miranda died instead of Jacob, but she wasn't a candidate for rocket-to-the-face.

My full Renegade FemShep romanced Thane, but he died on the suicide mission, so more tragedy to fuel her anger.
I killed Samara to have Morinth take her place, but I wasn't stupid enough to romance her.
Destroyed the Heritic geth.
Saved the Genophage research.
Tali wasn't exiled.
Got the the Collector Base late, Kelly turned to goo.
Gave the Collector Base to Illusive Man.

ME1 choices:

Killed the Rachni Queen in the first game, hoping that means no rachni reapers in ME3.
Let the Council die, fuck them.
Let Wrex live.
Ashley was spared (hate her, but I had already seen Kaiden's side. I like berating her for being racist, though).

Now to make it all go bad.

Honestly, Ashley's not even all that bad in 3. She's not really racist, just ignorant - all very stereotipical/cliche as she learns & changes her line of thinking.

Kaiden on the other hand, is a dull, moronic twat. Well, they both share the same script almost for the crap that goes down on Mars & afterwards so bleh...

Ashley is racist and condescending for three games. On top of this, she's all guns and has no other real talents. Kaiden is boring, but he's got the biotics going for him so he's worth bringing along. In that respect, I regret letting him die because the party line-up is now combat-heavy.

EDI and Tali are techs. Garrus, Vega and Ashley are combat-centric with Garrus being the most useful of them. Liara is my only biotic after a prequel that wouldn't let me take three steps without tripping over one. Ashley dies from on, even on BroShep playthroughs.

Me and my fiance just finished New Super Mario Bros U's story mode. Instead of adding some percussion instrument, the baby yoshis sing along to the stage's BGM and it's totally adorable. We also caught some non-spoiler hints for Star Coins on certain stages on Miiverse (e.g. don't lose your ice flower on this one), I thought that was pretty nice.

In this case, Ashley hates aliens which for Mass Effect would be racist. There's plenty of racism in the series and its where a lot for the conflict in the universe comes from. The Turians and Salarians take advantage of the Krogan for their physical might and incredible breeding rate, arm them to help them fight a war. Then when the war is over and Krogan nearly wipe themselves out with the tech Turians and Salarians gave them, the Salarians devise a sterility plague to control the future growth of their race since they clearly can't turn back the clock on their exposure to the technology they were given.

Intent might have been good for the safety of the galaxy, but the Turians and Salarians are totally at fault for borking first contact with the Krogan.

Had they had the Prime Directive of Star Trek, it probably wouldn't have happened.

Ashley has just lived on Earth most of her life before joining the Alliance and so her contact with aliens is fairly new and uncomfortable to a point - that point being that after years and years of being in the Alliance military she maintains a mistrust toward aliens.

Some of this is understandable - Batarians raid human colonies for their slave trade (because their religion says its OK) and Turians went to war with humans the first few years humans entered galactic society.

It makes of a rather uneasy political setting overall, except no one minds you being gay or bi. Its more toward Star Wars or Firefly than Star Trek.

Ashley is racist for all of ME1, she only gets a cameo in 2 if she lives and she's an annoying witch when she's there. In ME3 she's ignorant and mistrustful - but nicer to Asari. Still think she's racist, though. Kaiden and her story follow a similar arc, so i doubt she overcomes it. I also just hate her voice. A few octaves higher and a little more nasal and it would have been in Fran Drescher territory.

Just a heads up, but if anyone's been curious about The Walking Dead game, but haven't tried it yet, the first episode is free on iOS for a very limited time. Probably today and tomorrow.

Critics have agreed its like Heavy Rain, but minus the suck.
