Super Hexagon expanded its leaderboard to 500 on Steam, so I'm back in it.

Its one of those games that eventually you can kind of trance out to. Like when you forgot you did any driving to get to work, sometimes that first minute you don't know what you did to get there.

On the other hand, since its a game where you can't pause at all (because that would create a cheat) you're kind of screwed the second you have an itch that needs scratching or sneeze, as game overs do happen that fast.

Its tunnel kaleidoscope hell.

Geh I'll probably end up spending at least 20 bucks on Firefall by the end of this Beta weekend. The game is fun and even though there isn't much content it still feels very Fallout-ish in the way you can get completely sidetracked exploring the place. But with jetpacks and speed enhancing servos instead of Leather armor. XD

I spent around 5 hours defending an outpost/tower but then moved on to other places. The tower fell in less than an hour after I left ( orz ), and it's still under enemy control but I'm taking a break before getting back into the fray, plus I'm reporting a bug that prevented me from unlocking a skill. Good times.

The time-sensitive one in that list is Borderlands 2 because the co-op multiplayer is arguably its best feature, and it's still relatively new. I'd play that first, as multiplayer makes a lot of the more challenging tasks in the game much more manageable.

Finally got to try out the HotS beta briefly at a barcraft yesterday

^^ quite fun, though I still hate the current state of Terran. Wish I'd won one of those keys in the raffle so I can post on the beta forums.

Downloaded Aeroporter from eShop today, its the second of the Guild 01 games to make it out west. Its by Vivarium and Yoot Saito, who you may remember as the same studio and creator of Seaman. As you might remember, Seaman was a pet sim and the pet was a bit of a troll.

Aero Porter is a puzzle game themed around managing luggage conveyor belts at an airport. Passengers check in their luggage, it loads on to a conveyor and you manipulate multiple conveyor belts to make sure the right color luggage gets to the right conveyor and flight. This sounds simple and the easy tutorial makes you think this is all going to be a breeze, but after the tutorial is over, you're in for some serious shit.

As you're sorting luggage, you might get an order to manage a special bit of luggage for a VIP or restock on fuel to keep the conveyors running. Sometimes there's a roly-poly bit of luggage you'll have to manage with the tilt controls or the VIP is a primadonna that wants their luggage on the flight first exclusively with no other baggage going in until his is sent first (fuck that guy).

Not only this, but the three conveyor lines will eventually expand to six from the top screen to the bottom screen. And of course, luggage likes to get bunched together so things easily get mixed up. Oh, and all conveyors activate along each line simultaneously. Think of it like multiple pinball flippers.

As tame as the premise sounds, it has a rather steep learning curve and is pretty punishing. If you can stomach lots of failure upfront for mastery later - something people who play Dark Souls, FTL or Super Hexagon may be used to by now - this might be for you. If you come in expecting Dr. Mario, you will be...

Planetside 2, all settings on high, 1440p, stable frame-rate. There are no words.

This Gigabyte GTX 670 is a champ, and I haven't even overclocked it yet.

Super Hexagon. Managed to work my way up to Square level (30 secs) in Hardest. I'm amused that the lowest difficulty is Hard.

Initial impressions of Planetside 2 are that it is a terrible game. The basic concepts are solid enough I suppose, but the execution just makes me want to hurl my monitor across the room.

But then, I was watching one of Red Dragon's videos lately and the statistics for F2P are as follows;

70~80% of all players drop the game AFTER THE FIRST DAY. And then of those that do stay past day 1, only 15% last more than a week.


Which side did you pick? I kinda want to try it, and I'm leaning on the NC.

How many of those first-day players wouldn't have bought the game if they had to pay for it and/or a subscription fee though? It's pretty easy to pick up a F2P game on a whim. And how much money does the average F2P player pay out over the game's lifetime VS how much people pay to buy the game or pay subscription fees?

There's a lot missing from that data.

Too bad FireFall is still in closed beta with weekend invitations for stress testing onry. It's a good enough game in Beta you don't even see people complaining about much in global chat. Mostly about getting owned by the Chosen, but that's part of the fun.
