playing RE6 (4th story) and Borderlands 2 (still ;p) after I finish those I will start playing some of my back stock, till the Wii U comes out.

Why look up what I already know? It means one idea doesn't follow the other. Like a plumber eating mushrooms to grow large or a covert agent eating glowing mushrooms to recharge his batterinies. Or waiting your turn to shoot an alien thats trying to kill you.

Or maybe I'm a lifeguard on a beach on a beautiful summer day and a Giant Milla Jovovich nonchalantly wades down the shoreline, tipping over boats and knocking over surfers and not caring one whit about it. She then turns and walks to the city and not long after a pizza delivery car pulls up next to my chair. I come down and pay the pizza delivery panda three boxes of chalk of my pizza and he eats them, nods, gets back in the car and drives off. I open my pizza box and its got my candadian bacon, pineapple and those little paste-on eyes we used in grade school.

That was a dream I had recently, full of non-sequitur - I blame it on video games. I even blogged about it the other day since it seemed it good source material for a Playstation ad. Better than what they just put out recently, anyway.

Before you brought this it up I believe we were all posting about video games in one fashion or another, which is generally considered on-topic. I don't see what I disrupted.



It never really had great controls. Dreamcast didn't even have dual analog, so camera control is actually a new feature. Well, you just had o mash L or R to reset the camera back then. Its a good game if you give it some time, but like most DC games of its era its under the "fun by flawed" category.

Dishonored is not giving up my Clean Hands achievement for some reason. I killed no one, it said so in each mission log I had. Where's my cheevo?

The topic in this thread is what games you are currently playing. There are other threads in this forum which you can talk to your hearts content about various announcements and interviews, and if one doesn't apply you can always start a new thread.

Just picked it up last night. I was in a fit of frustration and wanted to try a game that I wasn't yet invested in, but was yet quick to pick up. I saw the Bastion icon on my desktop that's been starting at me for the past several months, asked my friend if it picks up quick. Of course, not only did it, but it solidly earned the high recommendations he gave it.

I think enough has been said about what the game has done right, so I'm going to list what problems I have with it:

WASD. WASD and I don't get along much, but considering the targeting reticle is bound to the mouse, which is another design choice I take issue with . . . suffice it to say, this game decides that it must invoke a terribly awkward control scheme in order to do what it wants to do.

They seem to try and force a western-feeling theme all throughout, because it feels . . . well, forced. It starts working a bit better when you actually get to the wilds (and grab your soon-to-be-disappointing dual pistols), but especially early on, it just feels totally unnecessary. I mean, working with a post-apocalyptic fantasy setting, and of all things, you want to make it more western on top of that? Er . . . okay.

Oh cool, something new got added to the Bastion! Let me check it out . . . SURPRISE! Welcome to 20 waves of Hell Who Knows Where! :D It caught me off-guard with a loadout I didn't want twice (though I managed to beat it both times). The second time, though? When halfway through Zia's story, and the above song starts playing, and you're all HOLY CRAP IT MAKES SENSE NOW. Yeah, that was pretty awesome. (Then I took several Pincushions to the knee, as I reached for my shield button--I did survive it, but it wasn't easy. Needed both of my extra chances to Carry On for the area, including the one from early on at the Distillery.)

The creators were obvious buffs of drugs/alcohol. A minor quibble, all things considered, except for the level which was obviously one bad acid trip.

The game's pacing is so good, it's too good. It's just so easy to just go on straight to the next thing that I have to essentially tear myself away from the game and tell myself it's time to stop. Also, the above song is going to be stuck in my head for a while. Upgrade ALL the things!

I dunno man, the western feel to it fit really well for the whole game. Then again, I'm a sucker for a good soundtrack so it might just be that.

The game's so much better with a controller. I tried it with keyboard and gave up after about five minutes and decided to shelf it until I could go buy one. That was definitely the correct decision.

I always knocked people out. I burnt that dohicky giving her power and tranqed her. You certainly can't knock her out with sleep darts if you don't do that. I even checked to see if she was unconsciuus. Mission record showed no kills. I did wave the sword around a bit in the prologue, though. Dunno if that counts.

I know dogs count, but rats don't so I hack at them if a swarm gets near.

At any rate, I'm doing it over and sneaking in various achievements as I can and playing with new powers. I did get the drop on a Tallboy with my sword, then I just reloaded my save to continue my no-kill run.

Played Halo CE HD a bit today. I played with the filter for a bit and damn that game is a lot uglier than I remembered. I mean, even Metroid Prime on the Trilogy pack aged really, really well and this doesn't even hold up in SD DH version is a nice upgrade, though.. Maybe I will wait for the HD version of Halo 2 whenever 343 gets to it.

The HD/SD toggle was useful for finding spots where health and ammo pickups were, though. All that bloomy foliage they added in the HD version can be a touch distracting when you're trying to find things.

I was trying to see if there was a version of Halo 2 I could play off XBLA, but apparently it never got a digital version. I know about the Arbitor thing from the Halo animes, which is interesting, but I don't know how essential Halo 2 is anyway. I'll just wait for the HD version, skip it for now, play Halo 3, skip ODST, play Halo 4. Reach? Reach fell, people died, Pillar of Autumn took off and found a Halo.

I beat Bastion the other day.

I cried.

I decided to save Zulf, and walking through that corridor at a snail's pace, on your last chance to continue, with only two health tonics left, was emotionally gripping enough. But then they had to put on soppy music and have the Ura cease fire, apparently once they realized what my objective was. The kicker was that little detail when the crossbowman who broke the ceasefire got promptly cut down by his own comrade for the act.

Getting back to the Bastion, eyes already watery, and choosing our fate did not make it any better. I was initially tempted to just hit the giant reset button, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that creating a potential time loop of this whole mess is probably a really terrible idea, so I opted for Evacuation instead. Which, you know, also made saving Zulf felt like it mattered. Stating essentially that there's not much that really can be done about what happened in the past except to move on, made "the Kid" seem like he had really grown up over the course of the game. A bittersweet ending that was actually quite more sweet than bitter, I was further in tears soon as the credits rolled.

Of course, part of what made Restoration tempting was precisely the notion of a time loop, essentially justifying the inevitable New Game Plus, but one does not simply break a time loop by opting out of the decision to break it.

Will probably check out the New Game Plus some time in the coming week. Darn good game.

League of Legends. Definitely a game I want to play with my new rig. For now playing with the lowest settings possible, only thing I have to deal with is the huge-ass loading start time and random lag spikes, but man, once you get into it -- very fun on Co-op.

Of course, that's because I met nice people. I wonder when I'm gonna run into the legendary asshat.

I had my entire team flip out at me in LoL for winning too quickly. Apparently the other team getting steamrolled in one lane and all of our minion things being in their base destroying everything while I sit there ganking people each time they respawn is doing it wrong.

I think it was then I decided to quit.

Just Cause 2 is absolutely everything Link's Hookshot should have been. This game is fantastic.

WASD is like the only way I can conceive controlling movement on a keyboard. And what alternative would there have been to the mouse? Double-WASD would just piss you off more.
