Took a good while to get used to the battle system though. Unlike most RPGs (and honestly, for a battle system so different from the norm, there should have been more mandatory tutorials up front rather than hidden) it just kinda throws you into the fray with no sense of direction or how to play the damn game lol.
So I was struggling just to figure out wtf was going on in combat... and money is very limited in this game too (what's with every JRPG since FF12, save the tales series, doing away with money dropping off enemies?!) so I didn't want to spend what little I had.
But you have to, lol. Without the default sight mods on your guns, you absolutely can not fight worth a shit - your attacks just take too long to charge outside of Hero Actions (which are REALLY F'ING COOL BTW).
Now that I have the hang of it, I'm rather liking the game. I'm just a little disappointed the 3 characters are the only ones you ever get for the entire game apparently (and they're in PXZ!!!). I'd like to know why Leanne is blonde though, when she clearly had (beautiful ) dark brown hair in the intro CS.
@_@ stupid game won't change to nighttime tho, so I can't finish a sidequest... I read that certain parts of the game will lock the ToD until u finish the main mission. HOWEVER, major props to Tri-Ace for once again thinking outside the box. They actually give you the OPTION to advance the story, and it will notify you if you have any outstanding side missions that need to be completed before you move on. No more freaking guess work. I've always hated that aspect about JRPGs, possibly missing quests because you didn't trigger or finish them at the correct time.
How do I get the Bezel Gauge to increase btw? I really hate only having 3.
Also, I'm thinking of the following;
Have Vash focus on handguns & grenades (and I read I should save all nades for bosses until chapter 5 when I can actually start making/buying them), have Zephyr go hybrid (dual wield MG + HG) and have Leanne focus on HG & Support, though there is no actual support level
Magazine Cases seem largely useless to me, as status effects only last up to 15 seconds and I'd rather dual-wield for extra damage when I'm not using grenades or healing items.
Apparently SEGA wants Tri-Ace to turn this into a new franchise as well.
So far, worth every penny. I remember hearing about it years ago, but somehow just lost track of it's release >_<
I *love* Tri-Ace, and lately SEGA - lol, their "official" description of the game's battle style is "A mix of Valkyria Chronicles & a John Woo action film". Sums it up perfectly to be honest.

Bezel Gauge?.... oh god it has been a while...... I know that you get them for beating major bosses, and on the hex grid, also some side quests I think.

Kain (FFIV): I am aware of my actions, but can do nothing about them.
I thought it was a glitch or something but no, apparently you only gain a crappy little quarter segment for beating bosses... -__-'
ALSO ROFL @ my guns... they're rigged up in such a f'ed up way you'd never ever see on an actual gun with the customized parts lol. Vash & Zephyr each have a pair of raised sights or w/e on the rail of their guns, which give a charge bonus but also allow for a secondary attachment on top of them... to which I've got compact scopes on for even MORE charge time reduction XD
Haven't been able to get much in the way of charge acceleration yet (which is hugely important) but then I also only just finished chapter 2. Which kinda bothers me, as the game only has 10.... I'm hoping the other chapters are longer, or this is gonna be 1 really short RPG.

There's a trick to make infinite money once you get to chapter 6 or 7. Also, I strongly recommend grinding for green L-shaped energy hexes in Chapter 5 (because grinding for them later sucks and takes a lot longer). You'll need something like 200 of them to get everywhere you want to go.
Apparently I missed some things this time because the neutral path I forged last time didn't have these particular people dying off. I haven't decided if I'll do pure good or evil endings yet, there's actually like six ways to go here.
Began life as a slaver in Fallout. After blowing up Megaton I also cleared out Tenpenny tower of most of its human residents so Ghouls could life there. I also did it because I wanted Mr. Burke's hat, suit, glasses and silenced pistol. I was actually hoping to make them slaves, but they didn't take well to the mezmertron and then Clover would shoot them for attacking me. Real itchy trigger finger, that Clover. Glad I bought her.
In SMT Nocturne I finally got past White Rider, though it technically involved downgrading one of my main summon from Dionysus to Kulishinda.
Also played a little Digital Devil Saga. Came up to a part where Mary McGylnn had a character in it and then I was off to watch GitS;SAC and listen to her songs from games again. Her character comes up about 7:30 in this video:

Icemage
Yeah I heard something about that, and how they're supposed to be the best way to connect the terminals on levels 4 5 and 6 to the Arena for max benefits (drops/exp). I have to say the Energy Hexes are the only aspect of the game I truly hate. Everything else is pure Tri-Ace gold (even the lewd jokes XD )
As for Last Story, I liked it, but it's seriously over rated. It's *not* the epic RPG people made it out to - it's an average action game, with an OK plot and a really good cast.
