Crisis Core was pretty good. It's the only RPG I've ever played that had a GOOD slot-machine mechanic behind it *cough*Xenosaga2*cough*
And I was referring to Seiken Densetsu as a whole, though specifically 2 and 3 were the best (Secret of Mana in North America). SD4 (World of Mana for PS2) was an abomination... Sword of Mana (aka SD1 aka Final Fantasy Adventure (well, the original game not the DS remake)) was pretty decent, though not as good as the 2 SNES games).
You need an emulator to play SD3 sadly, since it was never released outside of Japan. They even put it up on the Wii's VC market, but again, only in Japan. Bastards!
If I had to pick a favorite Action-RPG, it'd be a tough call between Grandia 2 or Drakenguard. Caim was such a badass...
