Either way I think it's more the androgyny thing combined with the BigBrotherInstinct trope. I'm pretty tired of both but I'm sure Japan isn't going to let either one go out of style for a couple more decades.
Still waiting for that localized PS3 port.

      Lrn2Japanese already, Mal.

No regional restrictions for the win, enjoy it while it lasts in case Sony goes retarded and region locks the PS4.

Also, where the heck is Murphie? Then again, he is probably too busy living in the real as usual I guess.

You're going to pass out from holding your breath for that long. Xillia will come out before Vesperia PS3.

Kailea, you haven't already, go unlock everyone's third mystic arte. If you activate any mystic atre that will kill the final boss, the character will automatically use their 3rd mystic arte (if it is unlocked) with a special incantation for an insta-win. Not as cool as the insta-win in the Future Arc, but just as satisfying.

really? oh cool, I will have to check that out then. Been doing some grinding/sub quest cleanup before I tried again.

also dont get any hopes for a Vesperia PS3 version... wont happen, from what I understood they signed a exscusive agreement with MS, and it is why we did not get the PS3 version.

The only missable item I know of is the synth item for Cheria's joke weapon (can't get it if you didn't do so before entering the final dungeon). Be sure to return everywhere (what I am doing right now) since a butt load of skits open up in towns AND dungeons (including Fodra).

3rd mystic artes titles are as follows

Tales of Cameo costumes are also on PSN for Graces. These titles come with a special bonus of changing the battle music when the costume is worn in battle. Player 1 takes priority. The Vesperia costumes from Magic Carta and the pre-order DLC do the same thing.

That agreement with MS is over. Namco has flat out said they won't do it.

There's little more obnoxious and sanctimonious than a spurned classical music fan. Hell, don't even call it classical music or someone will rage over how you don't distinguish between the classics or Baroque or whatever. Personally, I like to listen to a lot of it myself and a station dedicated to it is the one I spend my time listening to most often. So it's no surprise that I sometimes (actually, very often) come across some internet ranting and raving about how nobody respects it anymore. That all anybody ever listens to is pop and nobody has even heard of Beethoven, Mahler, or Chopin. Most of the time, it's just to bolster their feelings of being special little snowflakes because they can't defend their tastes without insulting everyone else's.

After complaining about mainstream music, they then usually aim their cannons towards some of the modern music that more closely resembles classical music. Namely, soundtrack music from people like James Horner or Nobuo Uematsu. Now, I'm not going to lie. I don't believe Aerith's Theme belongs up there either. I would've picked something else, even within Final Fantasy VII itself like the overworld theme or something. It all goes back to the old masters though and I find the classical music community is hardpressed to celebrate any new composers, let alone all these new multimedia invaders trying to invade on their precious turf of "serious" music (and yes, some would rather classical music be called "serious music" to distinguish it from everything else)

Yeah, in the wealth of Final Fantasy music out there "Aerith's Theme" is vastly overrated.

If we're talking FF songs with actual classical movements "Dancing Mad," "One Winged Angel," "The Extreme" and "Memoria de la Stona" tend to fit that better than most of the others.

"Battle on the Big Bridge," too, but more for its insane rapid complexity than anything else. It loops a bit.

Why all the hate on Aerith's Theme? I rather like it, moreso than Cloud's theme.

Liberi Fatali is still Nobuo's best piece though IMO.

I never said I hated Aerith's Theme. It's great for what it was made to do. That is, to enhance the mood of a death scene. But as far as complexity goes, it's really not up there. It's straightforward and sentimental. When I listen to music, I actively try to listen to a lot of what's in the background too, not just the most prominent melody. And with Aerith's Theme, there just isn't a whole lot back there. I always envied people that have formal training in music as they will probably be better able to explain what I mean in technical terms. But I'm sure you get the idea.

But I don't blame people for liking it because of the emotional connection with it. But it's just not a great composition for orchestra.

The love for "Aerith's Theme" came from an immense emotional bias rather than anything having to do with artistic merit. Its a quaint piece, but weigh it against the rest of Uematsu's work and it is honestly one of his weaker efforts.

Did the final boss fight in Super Metroid have a huge emotional impact for me? Yes. Should it get an Oscar? Hell no.

Did Aerith's death have an emotional impact on gamers? Not me, she was a poorly written character, but apparently it did for others. Is her theme the best ever? Absolutely not.

The only thing I take away from it is that Uematsu's work gets exposed to this audience - that's great- but once these people start checking out his work they're going to find a lot more that was better than this little bit FFVII fans continue to wank to. And really, its not like Uematsu its the only great composer on games out there.

I'm actually disappointed you don't hear more about live performances of Koichi Sugiyama and his music from Dragon Quest. Now some of his work is what deserves to be on that Hall of Fame list.

Yoko Shimomura and Koji Kondo spring to mind for me on top of that.

I'd say Shoji Meguro, but he's a bit too rock in most cases. His range for other styles, however, is amazing.
