Wow... that's just... ew. I'll stick with my online fighters then.

You know how I said earlier was going to hunt and kill birds for feathers in Zelda:SS?

Turns out you just stalk the little birds in Faron Woods with your bug catching net for those. So here I was ready to murder tons of birds that dropped none of these feathers when it was the cute little ones that look like they were pulled from a Disney flick instead that you don't kill. I finally learned the proper use of the bug net from that, though. The net will turn to different angles if you turn the Wiimote in your hand, but it will still keep the proper directional calibration for movement.

Its amazing all the little details that got paid attention to in this game.

Wonder if I can swat back spells with that net, though, that would be pretty funny if they brought that back from LTTP.

Rolling Shield & Energy Tanks are your friend (or you can TRY to Hadoken him, but it's like, so stupidly hard to land it I've only ever managed it once ever and your timing has to be absolutely perfect)

How about stfu? You've no idea just how moronic/incompetent some people can be. It makes me want to break my controller whenever I see an entire squad on my time get wiped out when I'm using my MAV to provide full recon including exact enemy positions for them. A lot of people really don't seem to grasp just how annoying/vital that equipment is.

Ever since I used the damn thing for the first time I've made it my #1 priority to shoot the damn thing down if ever I spot one hovering over my team as the range of its motion sensor is ridiculous - not to mention if you hit someone just right you'll get a roadkill which is hilarious.

Apparently the EOD bot can roadkill as well but the enemy has to pretty much be stationary and very hurt. I'm just annoyed that you can't do anything janky like strap C-4 to it. The MAV yeah obviously that would be retarded since it can fly and moves very quickly, but not being able to rig up the EOD bot to blow sucks.

But then I guess DICE didn't want people doing that (slapping a bunch of C-4 to it then sending it in to arm the M-COM then BOOM when someone tries to disarm it )

Oh and for Zelda, yah you pretty much use that net for a lot of things - including catching tumble weed, which I still find bizarre/funny (and you'll be needing a lot of tumbleweed).

Later on you can use the harp to call a guidestone or w/e they are in the caves in skyloft at night to buy the very rare resources like Dusk Relics (which you can only otherwise get during the 4 spirit trials) but they are very expensive - the dusk relic specifically is 200 rupees. Don't bother buying anything else honestly, by the end of the game I was overloaded with items (you should however buy the Treasure Medal from Beedle ASAP!). Catching the blue birds for feathers is a real bitch with the default net, upgrade it to the big net again ASAP.

You not only managed to misquote me, but use Cid's comment about beating MMX instead in the process to rant about Battlefield 3.

Bravo, you have truly let rage get the better of you.

Ugh WTF that's the quote thing not working right, I don't know if it's a problem with the newest firefox or the forums but whenever I click "Quote Selected" it doesn't actually copy the text...

Rage had nothing to do with it [Moderator's Edit: Nope, not happening. Let's not be throwing names around. - Icemage]

Actually online fighters have it too. It's just the netcode tends to be better written for fighting games. I only really notice it when you end up fighting that one guy in Australia or Japan or somewhere equally "on the opposite side of the world to me".

How is the new Zelda? I've not really played a Zelda game with Wind Waker. Well I do have OoT on the 3DS but it rarely gets played due to Pokemon Black Wi-Fi fun.

Its hard to put it all into one post, but for many people this is the new "Best Zelda Ever." It does away with some traditions, but keeps and improves upon what's always been adored about the series. It even pays homage to some of the favorite aspects of previous installments along the way.

It serves as a prequel to OOT, so here we see the birth of Hyrule and the forging of the Master Sword. There is no Hyrule yet and the gods made this land that exists in the sky known as Skyloft, which exists as your central hub for the game. No one has ever been to the world below the clouds and you generally get around by bird.

You can fly to other islands, but the travels is much more swift and short than Wind Waker's sailing.

The swordplay makes good on what Nintendo has always wanted to do with motion controls and WiiMotion plus. Combat is still within the familar style established in OOT, but the motion controls add depth and challenge to the combat. You can't just go in flailing, you have to pay attention to where their weapon is. You can even stagger them with a well timed push with shield by swinging the nunchuck.

The story is also a bit more in-depth. Link still doesn't talk and there's still no voice acting, but its extremely well-written with tons of charming characters. Groose almost feels like a dopier version of Gaston from Beauty and the Baast.

              Obligatory:

Anyway, its good stuff all around. Even some of the oldest dungeon gags have been tossed out in favor of new ways to tackle dungoes. There's still the old box pushing puzzle here and there, but its quite nice how little of the older methods show up in the game.

I spent yesterday at home, using some PTO at work for a vet visit, and I played BF3 the whole time. I tried to get into using air vehicles, but they're a joke. I see a lot of people flying them perfectly, but I can't seem to keep them stable or pointed in the same direction for more than a second. The perks you can unlock completely shut down other air vehicles, so once one team controls the sky it's nearly impossible for the other team to get another jet or chopper off the ground. Anti-air weapons are ninety-nine percent useless; it takes forever to acquire a lock, which you have to waste the first missile on because they'll drop flares, at which point you scramble to get another lock before their flares cool down, which, even if it does hit, wont destroy anything, and even though you know your last missile will get distracted with more flares, you might as well use it anyways.

Ground vehicles aren't much better. People wonder why there are so many engineers; it's because the outcome of the game revolves around proper vehicle use and denial. Anti-infantry vehicles are on almost every map, and can shut down pretty much every other vehicle. There will almost always be an engineer or two dedicated to repairing it, so the other team must throw as many rockets into it as it can in a short period of time, hence entire teams made up of engineers. Attempting to shut down air vehicles is also important, since they're wtfoverpowered.

While there are things that are broken in a game and should be fixed, something that awesome deserves to stay in.

Actually that trick isn't new to BF3. It's been in virtually all of the Battlefield games, and it even has a name, loop zooking (because you do a loop with your plane while you bazooka an enemy, geddit?).

Well, today was employee appreciation at Gamestop, so I used my briefly boosted discount to get some stuff. Not that I really needed anything just based off the games I got these last two months, but I did have over $90 in credit laying about. I got:

Fallout 3 GOTY - You know, because I need another game to suck hundreds of hours out of my life right now.
Mario Kart 7 - Mostly because I figured what the hell
And then a $20 PSN card so I could get the Lightning Strikes expansion for DCUO.

I threw the remaining $30 in credit at a Xenoblade Chronicles preorder.

Still have $10 left to spend on PSN, but no clue what to get. Everyone says Infamous 2: Festival of Blood is pretty good, but I still haven't gotten around to the first Infamous on my HDD and don't want to get spoiled on the updated mechanics. Chrono Trigger and FFVI are on PSN, but better versions of those games can be found on other platforms.

I could blow it on Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath for UMVC3, but from what I can tell no one else plays those two characters and I personally wasn't interested in them to start with. Maybe I'll get them when they're on sale.

In the meantime, I made a supervillainess for DCUO with the new Electricity powers - Mona Chrome. Yeah, she's got black, white and grey as her primaries.
