It's gets them attention, just not any attention that brings success. You know, what with preachy airheads telling you how to live before thier next public drug/alcohol crisis or sex tape leaks online. People don't like being told how to live by people that can't keep thier own shit in order.

They get all hot and bothered about Mario, CoD and Meat Boy, but ignore games that simulate actual hunting and crafting of animal skins and wearing them. That and the omission of evidence that virtual actions influence real life behaviors. That would be because there still is no viable proof, but who needs details when the myth can be perpetuated, right?

Kids will skin raccoons to wear them because Mario touched a magic leaf.

You see them exposing truth, I see them misappropriating Nintendo's latest drug fantasy to ends with no merit or results.

Deus Ex was disappointing in the end

I enjoyed the game, but there were some glaring issues/glitches that just really pissed me off, and all 4 endings were rather weak I found. I especially hated how being "good" or "evil" had little or no bearing on events.

Not that it was a bad game, just that it could have been a lot better.

In particular, getting the "Ghost" and "Smooth Operator" EXP bonuses were just plain bullshit. I routinely went through levels without anyone ever seeing me or an alarm going off (got Foxiest of Hounds on my 1st playthrough to prove it) yet I maybe got those bonuses 5 times in all.

Apparently just making the faintest of sounds thus turning an enemy yellow on the radar is enough to screw over either bonus - but not always. How the fuck the devs missed such a glaring glitch in testing is beyond me. Hopefully they fix it for the next one.

I really did like the game overall, I just wish it had been a bit better. I'd like to see them try and expand the augment system next time as well - maybe grant a little more freedom/selection.

Oh I just remembered another stupid occurrence that would happen ... sometimes an enemy would hear me walking normally from inside a sealed room, yet other times I was literally running around holding up a god damned VENDING MACHINE yet that garnered no attention.

          OK then Eidos...

While Hyperdimension Neptunia was cute with obvious tropes, the endless dialogue placed right at the beginning of the game was BORING. Somehow, though, I think J9 would claim that it was the greatest thing since sexual intercourse. Of course, there's a lot of gratuitous "moe" all over the place, but that was the intent of the game. I just didn't appreciate the hours of "NPC chat". If this ends up being the norm for the series, then I'll not bother with the sequels.

Haven't tried out the new Disgaea 4 DLCs that was released last night. Will do so tonight.

Haven't yet tried out Atelier Totoori but might be able to find a sliver of time to at least view the opening (I hope it's nothing like HN)

Well, given its a prequel that connects to the original Deus Ex, certain events have to happen regardless of your choices, particularly the bonus ending. DX is already set in stone, so being vague with the endings was probably for the best.

Politicizing them, on the other hand, was not cool at all. Not only that, tossing Bush on the Illuminati ending didn't make much sense. Illuminati are the worst aspects of the far left realized, David Sarif benefits from the worst of the far right. Its like the team didn't even understand the story's own politics in the end.

Jensen''s ending narratives were fine, its just the montages could have been better for some endings.

The ending you chose first was more than likely the one that was consistent with how you played.

The one thing DXHR didn't do that the other games did was allow you to side with one faction, the other, both or neither early on and this changed the experiences of the campaign in both those games, but in DXHR they're kind of in their fledgling states. The Illuminati isn't overtaken by the Majestic 12 as Bob Page is still scheming his takeover at this stage in the story.

However, taking on Megan at the end, he's setting up his work for the Gray Death epidemic that sets the stage for Deus Ex.

That would be because those bonuses were applied for missions that advised pure stealth, not because you chose stealth for every mission. Mission parameters and all that.

Also, there's plenty of XP to be had in the game, almost too much

Actually, I think DX:HR's Ghost and Smooth Operator bonus only operates for "main" story missions, not side missions, and not even all of them. As I recall the Sarif warehouse facility mission doesn't have one of those bonus conditions attached to it, but pretty much all of the storyline missions after that do.

I need to get around to doing "The Missing Link" at some point." I got it for the $9.99 price point before SE marked it up on PSN to 'correct' it.

What I did play of it seemed to make it one of the few worthwhile DLC add-ons I've played. Basically its what Shadow Broker could have been if it wasn't one long duck-and-cover tube. I only oot about an hour in and there's five to six in that add-on.

If you mean the first level, yes it does in fact have Ghost & SO.

I wasn't aware it was a prequel either, I've only played this one and maybe 5 minutes of the 1st Deus EX (which would technically be 2 right?)

So then I take it Adam's ending is the canon ending?

I still would like to see them try and make your decisions have much more of an impact. You can go around being a complete asshole to everyone, and the only difference it will make is slightly different dialogue and possibly losing out on EXP or easy paths into restricted areas. It doesn't actually change the narrative at all, unlike games like KotoR.

Also again, they need to fix those stealth bonuses... Seriously what the crap, even if they don't actually see you, if you do anything to cause them to go yellow (like say throwing a cardboard box to distract them) that immediately nullifies the bonus.

Being the MGS fan I am, I found that to be totally unacceptable. This game has several things going for it that make it better/more fun than MGS, but dropped the ball in other areas.

Right now I gotta say I'm loving skyward sword - it's really good, despite the odd graphics. I want to STAB Shigeru though for motion controls at times and especially for all the stupid downtime between dungeons.

They better not ever bring back the Dousing mechanic. Pretty much every review I've read cites it as the most hated/aggravating aspect of the game because it's not fun and just serves to artificially stretch out the game. The Dungeon layouts really are some of the best in the series thus far though I have to admit.

Don't care for the Harp either, by the way. There's a few other aspects I'm puzzled by as well, as this game is apparently the "Official" prequel to OoT - well, let's just say a lot of the landscape ain't matching exactly right...

I still don't understand the grip people have with the Dousing, you don't have to even use it if you don't want to, and all it does is replaced a glowing trail or a big pillar of light showing where you need to go, I myself have used it... I think 3 times?

I loving the game though, I am understanding the story so far, but I still don't see how it is a prequel to Oot...... unless I get a big dose of story later that will blow my mind, that or I am just slow ^.^

Picked up Batman: Arkham Asylum last week so I can take a mini-vacation from Skyrim while Bethesda sorts out their patches. I already have Arkham City, but figured it'd be a good idea to play through the first game before embarking on the sequel.

This is easily the best comic book based game I've played. Great gameplay, tons of fanservice, and some truly inspired voice acting from Mark Hamill as the Joker.

I'm still playing Dark Souls. The game actually stopped being fun somewhere in Blightown, but I feel obligated to complete the game. That area began the trend of fighting big enemies that waste a lot of your time, which continues in Sen's Fortress and Anor Londo.

I'm currently stuck in Anor Londo. The enemies here are huge, have a lot of health, and most can't be back-stabbed. The giant suits of armor and winged demons routinely jump backwards, which seems to serve to lengthen the fight. One nice thing about this is that the winged demons are always located near edges and are more than willing to hop off of them for you. Further in you find two giant + golden suits of armor, which have even more health and can cast miracles. Which miracles? One that nearly heals it back to full health, and one that pushes the player back. Of course, both lengthen the fight. Maybe other players are more tolerant of this, but I find it all a huge pain in the ass.

Oh, and Anor Londo seems to be the preferred playground for all the cheaters that boosted their characters before the infinite-use souls bug was corrected. So fun!

The endings are ambiguous for a reason. They might go for a direct sequel to this DX or they might not. I guess Adam's ending could be the most canon of the three, but so could the Taggart ending since the Illuminati really aren't stopped at this point.

I still would like to see them try and make your decisions have much more of an impact. And the result of being an asshole to everyone in KOTOR was slightly different dialogue. That said, I don't recall Bioware letting you go off-rails on various mission objectives.

Also again, they need to fix those stealth bonuses... Seriously what the crap, even if they don't actually see you, if you do anything to cause them to go yellow (like say throwing a cardboard box to distract them) that immediately nullifies the bonus.

And again, there are PLENTY of ways to grab EXP in this game. There is nothing about Mission bonuses that need to be fixed when you can rather reliably max out everything by the time you've hit the final area.

And Deus Ex isn't Metal Gear. Metal Gear doesn't even have EXP bonuses for stealh aside from Peacewalker and VR missions.

I don't see and "stupid downtime" between dungeons. I see substantial content between them, unlike Twilight Princess which was nothing but one dungeon after the other..

I also don't see the problem with dousing. Easy to use and straight to the point, really.

Finally, you seem to not understand this is The Legend of Zelda. Legend. Hyrule doesn't exist yet and its had several wildly different layouts over the years. Its even been buried under and ocean and been an entirely different landmass from the Ocarina one.

See the thing about legends is that their accounts vary over time. Notice Princess Ruto and Jabu-Jabu are La Ruta and Lord Jabun from OOT to Wind Waker. Notice that the Kokiri are not tree spirits and the Zora are now bird people in Wind Waker.

Valoo? Never in OOT, must have slipped through the cracks.

There were three goddesses before, now there's just a goddess.

And all these years some armless figure-skating AI chick has been living in the master sword.

The beauty of a series about legend is you have carte blanche to amend and expand the legend. With no real continuity to follow you just make it up as you go along. We don't know what becomes of these Kikwi, Mogma or the robo-things in the desert. Maybe the Kikwi are early Kokiri, who knows?
