  • Re: What games are you currently playing?

Shenmue City is a new entry in the Shenmue series that will be released for the PC in Japan. Unlike the first two installments in the series, Shenmue City is not a sequel, but rather a social games service for Yahoo! Mobage service.[1]

You begin gameplay as a student at the Hazuki Dojo
Ryo Hazuki is also at the dojo
You will be able to run your own dojo which will be ranked against the other dojos
You will be able to find a part time job
You can attempt to accomplish a mission. These are called Events and they usually involve fighting.
Once running your own dojo, you can duel with other players in a Match.
Toy Capsules can be collected in the game.

Anybody happen to know where to obtain helium tanks and respirator masks in Taipei?

So they fixed the animation lock? Maybe I'll show up from time to time for some PvP if they did.

Also, pics or that costume never happened.

Once upon a time you'd get attacked and disposed off without being able to do a thing due to animation locks. Which killed PvP for a lot of people.

Been playing through MGS2 in the HD Collection. The controls take some getting used to, but overall not much different than playing with a Dual Shock.

And by Celestia's beard, the graphics and the frame rate are beautiful. They did a good job revamping the textures. I mean, yeah you can tell it was a PS2 game, but it still has those moments where you question it.

Aside from that, and I'm still not sure why, I downloaded the first Fallout... Definitely different from Fallout 3 and above (Well, obviously). I stopped playing the second I accepted some dude's request in exchange for the location of a water chip, but I'll come back to it later on. I still get the same vibe from when I play Fallout 3/NV so I'm sure I'll see it through the end.

I lost interest in the HD collection when they included Peace Walker instead of The MGS. So if I ever buy it it'll be when it's severely discounted.

But, I'll compensate by buying 2 or 3 copies of the ZOE HD collection (Japanese.)

Peacewalker is worth the HD treatment, MGS would not benefit as its a PSX version.

And you wouldn't want Twin Snakes in its stead. For one, the code is partially owned by Nintendo so it would never happen. Secondly, it takes things a bit more over the top, not to mention the redub was unnecessary and the MGS2 controls broke the balance of the game. Kojima doesn't even acknowledge the existence of that version now.

MGS:TS wrote the book on how not to do a remake.

Also, I'll get a pic of my GL up when I get back home.

Well, MW3 is about what I expected.

It's actually fairly well done and, dare I say it - FUN - WHEN IT FUCKING WORKS PROPERLY!!!

As usual, CoD's ridiculous connection > everything rule is back in force. First 2 games I played I supposedly had 4-bars, yet every time I saw someone - even when I got them from behind - I would let loose with my rapid fire UMP.45 and get in at least 10 bullets on them, all to no avail.

What do I see on the killcam? Idiots panic-shooting at me while I'm apparently staring off in la-la land when I was actually aiming down my sights at the SOB's midsection.

So yay, yet another fucking piece of shit game that's only fun when:

              A) I'm not getting bitched by lag (which is like 90% of the time, despite having little to no issues with other games)
              B) People playing like little faggots (camping in corners waiting and other bitch tactics)

Though I could deal with the camping, IF Activision's studios could just get their shit together and do some proper net coding.

Once again, my hat goes off to EA. Yes, they have some rather colossal fuck ups of their own with regards to online play, but dear lord how I LOVE dedicated servers. Just wish I knew why sometimes on BF3 I get merced the same way I do in CoD (people 1-shot me then sponge several lethal hits themselves).

The weird thing is, I only experienced that on PS3 - at no point in the PC beta did I have any sort of wonky hit-detection issues. Every, Single, Time, I pumped a shotgun blast into someone close up and they died. Not on PSN though.

Dude, Captain Price always tells you to check your corners for a reason. If you just want to run and gun be ready to take quite a few caps in your sorry behind.

Lag is another (valid) issue though. I still can't believe how unresponsive it looks in some videos posted online. You could swear the servers are located on the other side of the world and connected via dial up just from watching those gameplay videos.

Yeah, from what I heard TS was very disappointing. I mean I'll still pick it up eventually, but with my current playing queue Metal Gear HD ranks pretty low in my priority list.

                Heck I haven't even bought Catherine or Ryu ga Gotoku of the End. <_<;

And still hoping maybe someday Kojima will remake the original MGS without the crazy. It worked well with Resident Evil, so Konami shouldn't have much problems with a port to MGS2 HD engine if they really want to do it.

I played BF3 on my PC and on my 360, and there was a noticeable amount of extra lag on the 360. It makes it a little harder to take anybody who loves shooters on the consoles seriously.

OK, here's my GL, I call her Nia Emeralds, the pic is rather big so I'll spoiler it

                    In brightest day...

She does need some trademark fishnet stockings to really complete the vision but the Fourth Word hotpants + tights is the best I can do for now. Maybe there's a Zatanna or Canary quest quest I can do late for some.

She's got the red hair and a sporty jacket like Guy Gardener, green eyes like John Stewart (the GL, not the comedian) and otherwise the fashion sense of Black Canary.

Flies, has hand blasters for her other weapons and likes to summon teeth to bite people. I might expand to bows to get a little Green Arrow in there.

One of the things I really like is how different everyone you meet looks. They might not come up with terribly creative names for their characters, but I've yet to meet anyone that looks the same.

I'm really still working on the villain, I've not come up with one I'm happy with yet.

My (test) characters in DCUO were based on Kamen Rider so I was always on a quest to find more robot-ish costume pieces to update their looks.

                      Good times.

The costume options and combat are awesome in this game.

Holy crap I wanted to do a Kamen Rider type character, but could not decide on the right move set, so I just made my own idea, His name is Dragon Moon ;p

I'm not an idiot. I don't just run blindly expecting to 1-shot everyone I see instantly (and yet that's exactly what fucking happens to me every game...) - I use Stalker most of the time so I can move with my sights raised at normal speed. Makes checking corners much less treacherous.

But really, it's insane how virtually every death I suffer as a result of a direct confrontation, I lost because I evidently never shot the guy - or only the last few rounds actually registered. There is NO FUCKING WAY a silenced UMP.45 dropped me after firing a point-blank blast from my SPAS-12 right into that guy's face. And yet it happened.

Not all console shooters are bad - though PC is still preferable. It's why I really, really wish that the next batch of consoles focuses less on graphical prowess and more on framerate & online performance. Host lag needs to GTFO, along with the myriad of other lag-related bullshit that's rarely (if ever) seen in PC versions.

Although apparently even on the dedicated servers for the PC version MW3 has absolutely retarded lag. I saw a video where the guy wasn't even aiming at the person he was shooting and still killed him...

I swear to God they're just copy & pasting the games now. I haven't seen the figures yet but sadly, I'll bet MW3 sold like gangbusters yet again.

I shouldn't say this, it really violates my beliefs but... it'd be awesome if someone just broke into their offices and brutally murdered the entire COD staff. We're at the point where nothing short of some drastic catastrophe is going to force them to get their shit together and stop spewing out the same rehashed bullshit with the same problems that everyone hates every year.

Oh, and a mode where if you stay in the same general area for too long you get killed & barred from earning or using killstreaks for a while would be amazing. Something - ANYTHING - to at least try and put an end to the relentless camping. Bring back stopping power too for Christ sake - way too many people are just running around with Assassin, same as it was in Black Ops.

That makes for a real exciting game Activision - people camping corners who are invisible to any form of detection. At least in BF3, I can blow up the majority of cover, severely limiting hiding places. Besides, camping in an objective-based game is far more understandable and acceptable. But in a close-quarters TDM-oriented game? Not so much.

Last point I want to rant on is the shotguns. Thanks for gimping them again guys. 4 rounds, aiming down sights and up close from an AA-12 to drop someone now? REALLY?! Generally 2~4 shots from a SPAS-12 at close to medium range, MAYBE 1 shot if you're super close... that's just complete nonsense.

That was my favorite thing in MW2 (aside from stabbing people naturally) - blowing bitches away with the almighty SPAS-12 in one blast if they were within 20 feet of me. You know, the way an actual shotgun would.

I didn't buy it. Go read my post again, I rented it. (though I was planning on doing so because I allowed myself to stupidly believe they'd made a worthwhile game this time based on all the developer interviews on GT)

And to be fair, they actually have made some pretty good changes this time around - but they once again failed to fix some of the most egregious issues with the series.

And actually, I don't see how buying it gives anyone less right to complain about the general shittiness of the game and Activision's laziness. I say that because without actually playing it, you can't really criticize it. I've played it, and it's appalling how utterly fucking lazy IW & SH were with this piece of crap. The new additions like Kill Confirmed and the re-worked weapon leveling & streaks etc are all great, but the copy-paste engine, lag & gun balance issues, and what has got to be by far the WORST MAP DESIGNS EVER IN FPS HISTORY just ruin it.

I just wish more people who paid for the game would voice their outrage over this shit instead of acting like sheep. When you purchase something, there's a certain level of expectation that needs to be met - and those standards are clearly being ignored yet again.

But then I suppose you need look no further than the U.S. political climate.
