Re: What games are you currently playing?
My phone won't really show much and that picture is websensed... =/
things...Killed the red dragon on the bridge. Seems like it took around 200 (10soul) arrows. Still rolling with the Drake Sword, Dragon shield, and leather armor, myself. Spent a few hours farming some mage beyond a door I paid 20k souls for the key. Easily made that back fighting some mage that comes after me..
Killed some butterfly thing. Gargoyles on a roof keep kicking my ass but I think I'll finally have the upper hand when I go back after the farmfest.
This game is just simply amazing.
Anyone find a decent way to farm humanity? So far I'm just hoping a rat drops them...FFxiv ~ (PS3 Beta) 24THM, 16LNC, 16CNJ, 15MRD/GLD/ARC/PUG

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Farming a mage beyond a door? I believe I know who you mean, but does he really respawn if you kill him? I've also not seen this butterfly.
I made it through the Gargoyle fight with the help of a phantom who really knew what he was doing. It was still an exhilarating fight. With light armor I feel I may roll a little too far at times, nearly off ledges and to my death.
The drake sword seems oddly overpowered, which I dislike. Where did you find the dragon shield?

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Yes he respawns
My tactic... and the bonfire is right before the door so I pull him to the bonfire and either melee him or kick him over the cliff. I haven't seen the translucent knight you can't lock onto for a long time though... but I'm being ultra cautious about where I go to pull (bow) the mage. Even the tree-dudes are tougher beyond that door.
Darkroot boss(es)When you start finding the stone-giants further down the path past the door I spoke of previously in Darkroot Garden ... then you know you are close to the Butterfly boss. If you go way down a cliff into Darkroot Basin, you'll find another... HUGE SCARY boss. I won't mess with that thing though.
I summoned the phantom before the gargoyle fight as well but he got knocked off the edge one time and the two gargoyles ganged up on him the next time... and now I've got only 1 humanity left so I'm kinda leveling a lot before I go again.
DropI happened to cut the Gargoyle's tail off and got the axe though on my first attempt.
I think you're right for how early and easy you can get the Drake Sword. But I wouldn't want to go without it now that I'm addicted. Yet one thing that is a detriment about the Drake's sword is that you can't enchant it or apply any consumable to it. I think you can't apply anything to it cuz it has a latent enchantment of what seems to be Magic Shield or something. It still pwns though.
Shield localThe shield is called the Dragon Crest Shield and can be found in Drake Valley guarded by a zombie-dragon. From the Fire Shrine I went down the elevator and once down the steps I turned right and went up those steps... then unlocked the door w/ the Master Key and walked across a plank bridge, turned left to follow a cliff trail and you can't miss the dragon. You'll also find a pretty decent sword (faith 14) along with it. I found this area really early so I used this sword until I got the Drake Sword.FFxiv ~ (PS3 Beta) 24THM, 16LNC, 16CNJ, 15MRD/GLD/ARC/PUG

I'd assume you could kill it with a lot of ranged possibly. I think you could time melee hits... course that has a lot of risks with the cliff right there and the inability to target anything other than his chest.FFxiv ~ (PS3 Beta) 24THM, 16LNC, 16CNJ, 15MRD/GLD/ARC/PUG

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Nearly done with the game with the exception of a few cheapass areas. If you thought Blight Town was bad, Lost Izalith will have you going after From Software with a knife. Other than that, though, I'm running around with a +15 Claymore and a +5 Lightning Iai Katana (Fairly sure I spelled that one wrong).
Unfortunately by saying no to Atrata or whatever the cat's name is, I've screwed my chances of joining the Forest Covenant, so I can't get the Washing Pole (Sephiroth esque Katana, it's huge). Makes me sad, that thing has the range of a lance / halberd.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Nice Fliegar... I haven't even come close to completion. Haven't been to Blight Town yet even.
I got invaded for the first time last night. I was kicking his ass big time. I got him down to like 10-20%... he then lured me out into the area with the invisible Thief and other human baddies and they ganked me. I had no idea that monsters in my world wouldn't attack an invader and I feel slightly cheated. Now I know and I guess knowing is half the battle. I really can't find much specific information on DS's game concepts such as PvP. Pretty lame win for him, imo.
So I killed the Undead Dragon and it dropped a Dragon Scale... so I upgraded my Drake Sword. Used Magic Arrow and the 2nd tier Magic arrow spell then just riddled him with like 30 regular arrows. Pretty easy. Killed the Gargoyles too. They were pretty easy this time around. Started exploring beyond the door in Darkroot Garden and beyond the nasty human mobs and found some shroom people and some giant cats that kicked my ass. Lost all my humanity cuz on my retrieval run one of the human mobs riposted me and killed me with his axe =[
I need to find a good way to farm Humanity ... other than the rats that are located under the Red Dragon on the bridge...FFxiv ~ (PS3 Beta) 24THM, 16LNC, 16CNJ, 15MRD/GLD/ARC/PUG

Re: What games are you currently playing?
This past weekend I finished Link to the Past. I started a new file a few months ago and ran all the way through to the end of the ice dungeon over the course of two nights and then put it down for a while. Picked it back up on Sunday and just steamrolled through to the end. It was a lot easier than I remember it being as a kid, but most of that is me being a better player now and knowing where just about everything in the game is. The game wasn't quite as awesome as I remember it being, but it's still an amazing game and shall remain the quintessential Zelda game in my mind.
On Monday I started a fresh file in Chrono Trigger. It should be interesting to see how it holds up after so many years.Server: Midgardsormr -> Quetzalcoatl -> Valefor

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I've been playing Dark Souls, but I'm not nearly as far into it as most people I know.
So I have about 15,000 souls and am considering the ring you can buy in the bell tower that massively increases your poison resistance. Is it worth it?sigpic
