With all of the shit going on around here, I wasn't feeling comfortable without having a way to receive live, local information reliably. There are no radios left in town, so I bought a one-seg TV tuner for my DS.

With a week off from FFXI I've been catching up on Final Fantasy: Four Heroes of Light. I love the battle system to death, but I really wish the game was a little more challenging. As it stands right now I've managed to break the game balance right in half. I have literally managed to one-shot a few bosses, and the ones that were actually given proper amounts of HP can hardly manage to scratch me. I've not even over-leveled my characters either, it's just that some jobs are just incredibly broken. Once you max the Black Mage hat it's all over. You get an ability that I like to refer to as "I declare the battle over", because it just drops a few thousand points of non-elemental damage on everything to immediately end any and all random encounters, along with some bosses. If that's not enough you can pretty much make your party invincible with the right elemental shields and an Elementalist using Mysterio to further boost elemental resistance to the point where elemental attacks are doing 1 damage.

I'm really hoping the final boss will put up more of a fight.

Considering all the new games I was expecting were coming from Japan I think it's going to take a while for me to get them, though I haven't recieved any notices about rescheduling of releases, yet.

So it's Oblivion, Mafia, Fallout and Ryu ga gotoku for me right now.

Farming lots of stuff in Dissida to transfer to 012 so I don't have to grind for equipment later XD

^ Last I checked only character data transfers, not gear. Which is a major piss off as that Super Ribbon is what drove me to quit playing the original.

Yesterday I was reminded of why I decided to not purchase any Physx games anymore after playing Mafia II.

Moving on to Majora's Mask.

I'm doing my Zelda Marathon based upon the "multiple timeline" continuity theory, which seems to actually be working than the concept of one time line. I don't put much stock in Zelda's story as it's all "legends" but if something has multiple timelines, I can have a bit of fun with the concept:


Skyward Sword > OOT (the ending we see) > (branch 1) Wind Waker > Phantom Hourglass > Spirit Tracks

Skyward Sword > OOT (pre-adult, but armed with the future outcome) Majora's Mask> OOT (speculated future) > (branch 2) Twilight Princess > LTTP > Link's Awakening > Oracle(A/S) > The Legend of Zelda > Zelda II

Four Swords has its own timeline: Minish Cap > FS > FSA

Its speculated, however, that Vaati, villain of the FS timeline has a role to play in Skyward Sword. Skyward Sword predates OOT because its the Master Sword origin story (and if Vaati is involved, perhaps the Four Sword as well).

Its why the multiple timeline or multiverse approach just works better for games like this.

Keep doing one continuity and you're bound to create some holes and. The Wind Waker and FS continuities are solid, not a hole between them.

The Twlight Princess branch is where it things get a bit spotty. Clearly, Nintendo's not intending to tidy it up anytime soon if they're doing a prequel to OOT, though.

I've run with a different theory most of the time, I just have a continuities for the "Heroes"

Hero of Time - OOT, MM
Hero of Winds - WW, PH
Hero of the Triforce - LTTP, LA, Oracle games
Hero of Courage - LOZ, Zelda II
Hero of Beasts - Twilight Princess
Hero of Spirits - Spirit Tracks
Hero of the Four Sword - FS, FSA, MC

So this new Link is "Hero of the Master Sword," I guess, as SS is an origin story for the Master Sword.
