Nah, I think that's the import he's playing. 3rd still doesn't have a US date, though with Lords or Arcana out in January and God Eater Burst in February, you'd think they'd try to get it out before the Attack of the Monster Hunter Clones.
Though to be fair, 3rd has an Infrastructure play mode and those other two haven't been as forthcoming about that particular detail. I think I'm still too enamored with Phantasy Star Portable 2 to get too involved the others, though I'll still probably buy them just to see how they fare.
Someone has to come up with a better trapping scheme than Capcom has eventually.
Yah, after I posted that, I googled it a bit and there's a July 2011 release date for NA and UK. That's a long time from now lol. And I'm not much of an importer, so I can wait.
Burning questions are burning: Is jenova_9 really a girl and is she cute? Does she talk like that in real life?
Phantasy Star Portable 2 is quite good if you're looking for something in that vein. While it does subscribe to a more traditional "random drop" scheme, it as a dizzying amount of content. There's a newer demo for it up on PSN, but I'm unsure if that newer version of the demo features the online play with a 15 cap like the original demo did.
I played the hell out of PSO on DC way back when. Than I played PSU on Xbox360 for a long ass time, till I realized it was awful. I tried blue burst, but never got into it since I didn't have anyone to play with.
Is PSP2 more like PSO or PSU?

Its based on the world and races of PSU, but much closer to the feel of PSO.
Though I do still miss the classic approach to MAGs, there's a really good job system in place for this version. Plus ranged attackers can finally strafe and lock on at the same time. They also lifted. shields, defensive and evasive movements from Phantasy Star Zero on the DS - all of which were good things.
They even did gamers a favor and cut the voice acting for the US/EU version, so no screeching banshee anime girls for anything but the cutscenes. The story is predictable, but the characters in this installment are the first since PSO Ep. III C.A.R.D Revoltion to be found endearing.
I've put about 80 hours into it so far. Leveling is still a bit of a grind, but the ability to spend your skill points to multiclass helps quite a bit in shaking things up. Its also got a nice wardrobe variety for the characters, so you seldom meet anyone that looks exactly the same (unless they're an anime fan, then they're pretty uncreative thanks to the unlockable bonus get-ups).
Well finished Indigo Prophecy -.- lol, Heavey Rain did this to me as well, I started playing it, and could not stop myself.
Well I guess on to Birth by Sleep now, need to knock that out before Re: Coded comes out, then I might replay Parasite Eve 1 and 2, so I can get ready for 3rd Birthday

Took advantage of the deals (and employee appreciation day) and Gamestop, to give my Wii collection an additional boost. They have a "Buy two used, get third (of equal or lesser value) free deal going on through Sunday.
Picked up Muramasa, NMH, NMH2: Desperate Struggle and New Super Mario Bros. Wii. One would think I would be sick of platformers by now what with Mario Galaxy 2, Sonic Colors, Sonic 4, Epic Mickey, Kirby and Donkey Kong, but figured why not? I still hadn't gotten around to NSMB Wii yet.
I completed the first three bonus levels in DKCR, the special bonus temples in each world. The first two are rather tough - no check points, no heart pickups, basically no forgiveness anywhere in them. Platforms either give way or sink in the first two temples, the third is just shifting blocks and was sort of a gimmie level - which is to say I didn't die ten times on it.
Mario Galaxy 2 I'm currently at 55 stars have all the comet coins from each level done so far. Only Prankster comets that have really given me trouble are Flip Switch Galaxy (damn purple coins) and the second fortress' speed run.
Sonic Colors I'm sort of the same mind as the previous two games, get all the red rings, try to S rank each level. Unfortunately it seems the criteria for S ranking each level varies wildly, not to mention it really requires having access to Super Sonic, which unfortunatly requires obtaining all Chaos Emeralds from the Sonic Simulator levels (all of which are not nearly as fun as the rest of the game).
So Red Rings > Sonic Simulator Levels > Chaos Emeralds > Super Sonic for S Ranking most levels.
Think I'll worry about DKCR and Mario firs.
As for Sonic 4, I cleared all levels and I don't care to strive to do better. They just don't inspire me the same way Mario, DK and Kirby have to really push myself to do better. Plus there's very little incentive to do leaderboards when fuckwits just hack it all the time.
Let's just hope Episode 2 isn't all fail after halftime like Episode 1 was. Why it is that they cam craft wonderful Green Hill and Casino levels and then fuck it up with shit no one ever wanted to see again like Lost Labyrinth and Mad Gears is beyond me.
Gave Muramasa a spin and it's been pretty fun so far. I can't really say much beyond that, but its a nice break from the platforming fare. Feels like it belongs right next to Okami in my collection.
Finally, there's Cave Story, which became available last week on DSiWare. It was on WiiWare and I demoed it there, but it was two dollars cheaper and, well, portable for the DSi version. Its got a Metroid-like feel, which is always nice. I realize this game was out for a while on PC, but I have to say of all the original games built around the retro concept, I like this and the Bit.Trip games the most in that regard.
Just finished Vanquish, and I started on Alen Wake, also starting the blueprints of an arcade project I will be starting on (cant wait to get that finished ^.^)

Aside from the general gaming, I made it a point to totally miss the Spike VGAs this year.
Saw the GOTY list weeks ago and it was pure PS3/360 fratboy wank. You can't expect me to take that shit seriously without the inclusion of Mario Galaxy 2 and Starcraft 2 at the very least.
Its one thing for hardcore gamers to be out of touch with the mainstream, but its another for a channel that claims to cater to the hardcore to be tremendously out-of-touch with the hardcore. But that's Spike for you - out-of-touch on every conceivable level.
I hope and pray cable providers drop them next year. They just got a 3 year exclusivity deal on E3 coverage and I'd just love to see it go to waste.

With the good news on FFXIV's improvement and finding out how awesome the Dissidia sequel is gonna be, I find myself in a FF mood. I think it's time to pull out the modded PSP and finish FF7 and 9 for once.
Also time to find out whether or not Hojo intended Red XIII to rape Aeris. Hmm...
Zuma... picked it up for 200 M$ pts ($3) cuz I got a similar game on my phone called Bonsai Blast. I'm having fun but the controls seem a bit hurky jerky. Revolving the shooter is a bit trickier than pressing on the touch screen where you want the marble to go. Idk... I'm glad very little thinking is involved and I can play a round and set it down.
Bought FF8 and FF9 for PSP the other day... downloaded them onto my PS3 cuz my PSP lacks the space. Still haven't had the gumption to start up the FF7 I bought a while ago. Still have never played it. My favorites still are FF1, FF4(2US), and FF11. Maybe it's too hyped for me and it's beyond the time the game was revolutionary, but I wasn't enjoying the bit of FF7 I played. But I feel guilty for feeling this way.
