During their March Press Conference, Ken Kutaragi has just announced that the Playstation 3 will be released worldwide in early November 2006! Sony plans on manufacturing one million units per month leading up to the launch. The PS3 will launch with next-gen HDMI technology.
In addition, the PSP has been getting much attention. In Spring, the PSP's web browser will be updated, and will be given Flash support. Later this year, the PSP will be getting even more, with an Eyetoy for games and video-enabled Voice Over IP chat, as well as GPS technology and a Playstation Emulator.
More to come!
EDIT: More news!
Developers are being told that they should develop games with HDD in mind.
All games will be released in BD-ROM format to help prevent piracy.
The Playstation 3 will be 100% Backwards Compatible. All "Legacy Games" will be displayed in high resolution.
The Playstation online network features voice chat, lobby features, and downloadable game content.
The Playstation online network will be free of charge for "basic service."
The 60GB HDD will be "required." It will ship at 60GB standard, will be completely upgradeable, and will support Linux. Unfortunately, I think we all know why Kutaragi didn't specifically say whether or not the HDD will be included.
Sony will ship final devkits to developers in June.
