  • PS2 Controller

    Hello

I just got a PS2 controller to play with on my computer along with the adapter, of course. However for some reason it seems like the buttons aren't sensative? I have to press pretty hard on the button for it to sense. Is this normal with a PS2 controller? Do I have to wear it out some?

    Thanks

Either, the plastic portion of the button has too far of a travel time to the pad, or you MIGHT have to wear it in. Most controllers don't have a "break-in" period, though, do to the button cones being made of silicone or simi9lar rebound rubber.
You can try taking the controller apart and adding little beads underneath the buttons to give some prior depth before a button press. I've done that to older aftermarket PS1 controllers with good results.

Hrm I have a PS2 controller for the PC version and it didn't need to be worn in, hopefully you didn't get a cheap or dodgey one ><. Yeah just rub the buttons with your thumbs over and over and see how it goes.

Something else that used to help during long gaming sessions was filing the buttons down, especially around the edge so that it was more rounded. Don't forget the D-Pad!

The D pad is the main problem. You just have to press so hard to get it to work.

What did you mean by "beads"?

Little plastic beads / pencil erasers / "dried" super glue. Something to add some space between the actual plastic button and the top of the rubber cone inside. Just make sure it's small enough to not keep the cone depressed.
