I remember reading about the video a while ago. Unfortunately it wont be played online with other players, or I havn't heard otherwise, which will make it pretty one sided and people could grow tired of it quickly.

Note that Will Wright mentions that much of your content is downloaded from other players - you can pull in stuff from other players, even though you don't actually play against them.

As for the non head-to-head nature, that doesn't seem to impact The Sims in the least - in fact, the online version (Sims Online) was a crashing failure.

TheSims wasn't exactly competitive in nature, I think it appealed to a different crowd. Including the whole theme of war and such might attract a more diverse crowd. I did find TheSims to be interesting at first, but it seemed to lack depth and got boring pretty quickly. I hope that doesn't become the case with Spore. It would be the perfect game for players to begin on the same planet, and compete or work together etc.

This game is awesome. I've been following it for a while. When I first heard about it there was very little out in info. At first I was like WTH!!? but as time wore on I could see where he was going with it. This game is very innovative and its about flippin time!

The ability to inhabit an entire galaxy and populate 10's of thousands of planets. Oh...my...god!!!!! Freaking awesome, I think this is going to be the hugest thing yet!

I had a strange feeling when I first saw the video. Now I know why... It reminds me of Genewars, that game was really strange :x
