As you can probably tell from my name, I am in love with this game. It came out for Dreamcast and Gamecube. The whole theme of sky pirates grabbed me and there are so many twists and turns that the game provides that really kept me interested. Moreover, the characters/villians/environments are amazing and I almost cried at how awesome this game was. If anyone has any comments, please feel free to talk.

Totally agree. I duno why but I just got wrapped up in that damn game. I had actually goten that and Grandia II same time frame for Dreamcast, and quickly fell in love with both of them.

Skies was just so unique to the RPG scene really, damn, want to play it just thinking about it haha. I loved, absolutely LOVED the world. The fact that it all took place in the sky, floating islands, it was bliss to my bias. I loved the style so much that I even ignored the simplistic battle system. I also loved the feel of it. It just truely felt like an adventure. The story was linear enough to keep you going through the game, but you had so much freedom once you earned certain ships. And that led to all the collecting of treasures :D

Story was what I will say good, not great. Infact, I've lost memory of a lot of it just because the story isn't exactly what kept me hooked. But that said, it was good enough to keep me focused. As you mentioned the twists and villians really helped.

The characters were very enjoyable. Vyse is a badass that's for sure. Cool but nice. And the other characters you came accross, as goofy as it may sound really just felt like good friends.

But yeah, nothing but praise for this title. It's easily in my top 10 RPGs of all-time. Just to show what I'm using for my rough top ten, only first two are in order.

Final Fantasy Tactics
Breath of Fire IV
Vagrant Story (If you consider it a RPG, I do anyway)
Grandia II
Skies of Arcadia
Final Fantasy 7
Valkrie Profile
Xenogears
Legend of Dragoon (Surprisingly enough)
Then a toss up between Final Fantasy 9 and 10.

I rank these RPGs off of three things really. The fun I had while playing them. What I got out of them. And what I think looking back at them.

Should note, I'm a bit tipsy right now and can't fully remmeber all that I played haha. But yes, Skies of Arcadia is deffinitely a classic which I'm very glad I played.

Yes Skies Of Arcadia is definately a RPG worthy of praise My favorite character was Gilder The Womanizing Pirate... but it's a RPg worth trying at least once I wish their was more ship battles I loved ship battles especially when you save all the Captain's stripes and use them on the Doliphinus which makes one powerful ship...

ahhh, you bring back the memories. One of the strongest, and most unique aspects of this game was the ship battles. Yes, I liked the delphinus. Don't get me wrong, but nothing beats the battle between Little Jack and the Red Gigas. After the first ship battle, I literally fell in love with this game. You're making me want to play it again!

I hated the Little Jack but the Red Gigas battle was probably the most tactical in the game in my opinion.

Indeed. That's why I enjoyed that battle so much. You had to plan everything just right, so that you could use your harpoon cannon right before he shot his laser blast at you. If that thing hits, it's game over.

Was it just me or did you use the magic cannons alot because I didnt...
They were so obselete compared to my other weapons at the time...

Edit: It's been awhile since I played, but I don't think I shot them at all. From what I remember, it always came down to evading and firing my kick-ass blaster at him, until I got the chance to fire the harpoon.

I loved fighting bleackbeard it was always fun to mess around with him because my cannons did 10,000+ and his cannons did no higher than 50 and I had 500,000+ hp with Doliphinius (I don't remember exactly haven't played in awhile)

XD yeah, it was always fun kicking his ass. Even better though is taking down that crazy Loco's ship, over and over again lol

I loved the ship battles in this game. Made the game very unique and fun. I should finish it... can't remember what sidetracked me...
