What do you guys think of the Star Ocean games. The first wasn't released, but Star Ocean the Second Story, and Star Ocean Till the End of Time were still great games. Imo I thought that The Second Story was better

Re: Star Ocean
Agreed. I don't think that End of Time was as good. Second Story pulled me in and kept me wanting to play but End of Time just didn't do that for me.Originally posted by FebaBut I mean I do not mind a good looking man so long as I do not have to view his penis.Originally posted by TaskmageGod I hate my periods. Re: Star Ocean
I absolutely love The Second Story, and I really enjoyed Till the End of Time. My only gripe about the third game is that it was suprisingly short for a 2-DVD game -.-; I was really expecting a 100+ hour adventure.PSN ID - PaiPai Gamertag - PaiPaiMaster Steam ID: Pai Pai Master

Re: Star Ocean
there was an anime to...WOW! I'll have to get that. btw the thing that made me upset with the third game (other than the short game) was the MP kills. It wasn't a big deal near the end, I found it more easy to deal with. The bonus bosses were a trip, I deleted my data shortly after defeating Gabrieal ><. And yes imo it is a game worth playing!

The first game was released for the Super Famicon video game system. It was one of only two games (Star Ocean and Tales of Phantasia) to make use of the 48Mbit ROM mapping mode of the SFC. It was also one of a very few (I think again two?) to use an obscure compression/possibly-copy-protection chip called the S-DD1, which prevented it from hitting the fan translation community for a time.
I've read about this game, and it looks pretty interesting. Haven't had a chance to play it much.Kumei, pickpocket of Midgardsormr(Bastok Rank 10)

Re: Star Ocean
I never played star ocean 2, and its selling here in teh uk now fo a minimum of £70 second hand (about $120 ish) Till the end of time I enjoyed, to an extent I have completed it 6 times, it was a good story and like in FFXi you did crafts to get better weapons food etc, though i always thought that cliff sounded like a crap 70's porn star LOL Plus there is a battlea rena you can play in three quatre way throught eh game and you can unlock a few mini games as well. Plus the game has 3 difficulty levels, so once you complete easy you can play a harder version and then a really rock solid version!! A good RPG from SE.

The sequel was a big improvement over the first, IMO, and is one of my favorite PSX games. "Mission to Deep Space" makes me remember all the hard times on my first run through the bonus dungeon. And the exultation every time I cleared a floor. If only you could access the higher difficulty modes without hanging on to a half dozen old saves. :/
I didn't like the third game at all. The camera kept causing me problems in battle, MP death turned tough guys like Cliff into pansies, and the tem creation- well, all I can say about that is that I hated it. I got a bit into disk two and stopped.

Re: Star Ocean
Star Ocean 2 is my absolute favorite game of all time (KH comes close.). EVER. SO3 was great too, although the plot twist...annoyed me. Characters were okay, but a little..bland. SO2's were better, and I HATE only being able to use 3 chars at once. Maria and Albel
SO1 gets super random and you have to do a LOT of walking back and forth between towns, but later on it gets super cool. I played through it in Japanese with some story translation, haven't gotten much into the Dejap version. It had pretty cool characters, but the game-killer for me is that you can only use Ratix, the main character. If you switch to anyone else, he'll just stand there and do nothing. Which sucks, because some of the characters were so damn unique. Once you build up Counter Attack you can leave him by himself for a while, but still. The two coolest characters were definately Fear and Marvel. Fear used Raven Daggers, that she would boomerang, and Marvel used Raven Orb, which did the same thing and had cool elemental stuff. Ronixis, Cloud's father, used spells and a bow (early on there's this side-quest you can do which gives him a SICK bow that makes the next hour or two a breeze). There was also a cat girl, werewolf, one-handed swordsman, and a couple others. All in all, a really awesome game with one debilitating flaw.
Anyone else play Blue Sphere? It was for GBC, never translated. Very Talesy battle system, loads of fun. You could use all but 4 of the SO2 chars from the beginning, and everyone had some awesome moves. Never got very far because of my game getting deleted like...3 or 4 times, and there was this one annoying as HELL tree dungeon I couldn't stand to go through again XD
Ah, the anime. You'll have to excuse me if you're enjoying it, but few things anger me more than that...thing. The first maybe half of it was fine, but they really butchered the thing in the end. The last episode makes NO SENSE if you've been anywhere near the game, and has the same ending as disc one but its funnier because it never got picked up for a second season XD They did release disc two as a few drama CDs.
If you really want good SO2, read the manga. It was what they based the anime off of, but its second half is worlds better. WORLDS. Art is gorgeous too. I don't know if I'm allowed to link to scanlations, so you can PM me if you want the site. Right now the scans are at the beginning of El. I don't believe the manga went past disc one either, but for you Noel and Chisato fans ( Noel) the artbooks have lots of them.
There's a Blue Sphere manga too, art isn't as amazing but its pretty cool. I've only read a couple of issues. Actually, there's SO3 as well XD
My God do I ever love this series. XD"In just refusing to retreat from something one gains the strength of two men" -Shungaku
