Correct, atleast for PDZ. I remember reading an article like a year and a half or two years ago. It said it was coming to xbox, not 360, I dont recall 360 even being on the radar at that point. I believe you are right, they heard about 360 and wanted to be first in line for it. The graphics I've seen are really good though, atleast compared to what I've seen on my 'old, archaic' consoles. Now, as for how far along it was before they decided to go 360, I dont know. Could have been a few months, could have been nearly finished and decided to hold out and re-vamp a couple things for a 360 release.

Microsoft is trying to lock that can up pretty tightly. It's their cash cow to the entertainment world...the pay-per-view ideal. They want you to buy movies online.

Whether they will give you codecs for whatever player...that's a toss up...if they want to squeeze you towards the "empire of evil" cliche, they would only allow WMA and WMV, and DRMed.

In which case you'll be forced to re-encode a lot of your stuff.
Well, windows media player plays a good amount of .avi's without isntalling divx / xvid. But even then, its a toss up to which subber uses what to encode their files. Then you got those special people that wanna do .ogg or .krv or some other nonesense. I tend to stay away from those even if its a series i like and wanna get. If X360 has like the latest media player version when they do release it, or at least have a update functionality then im sure it will work. Other wise... alterior methods may be investigated at one's on discretion... more or less... >.> .... ^_~

At the [removed for my work name] conferance in Las Vegas this year, they were playing a ripped version of SW:Ep3 on a projector, from the 360, they even got an xbox live gameplay invite. :X

        It was pretty damn badass.

I think kameo and PDZ were orginally for xbox, till they got wind of 360.

kameo is alright... the only thing really good is lots of enemies, which is where it borrows most of its power from...but seriously, it's pretty much 720p xbox style.

          Launch is what it is.

On side note, when I saw soul calibur 3 I had to do a double take because it looks almost as good as 360 games...goes to show you the differences between launch and well developed.

Edit: Tilting, like I said above, I did the exact same thing to my PS2..and while it may of scratch my games, they still played...It wasn't DOA like GUN. It's partly MS's fault for trying to cut corners.
FYI both Kameo and PDZ were originally slated for the Gamecube. Then MS bought RARE and that was the end of that.

Kameo is in no shape or form a X-box game graphics wise. The leap is absolutely noticable and stunning.

Moving a game console while in play is asinine PERIOD. I feel absolutely NO sympathy for any MORON that chooses to do so and then pisses and moans about his/her disc being scratched. There is absolutely no reason on God's green earth that anyone HAS to move your system during play. If something like that were to come up, which ponders the question...WHY!?, then they can shut it off and move it for pete's sake! If they don't have enough brain cells to know that then maybe they need to stop buying high end electronics.

Meh I prefer to call them sequels. The story is a prequel for sure but the dang game came out after the first one. LOL

Ya the streaming of the music from your PC is godly. One of the first things I did! I've been expanding my mp3 collection ever since.

You need to delve deeper into what codecs are. Avi, ogg, krv, ogm, mkv are all containers . They are composed of an video encode, audio encode, and for some subtitle encode, (and other option stuff).

Such that it matters jack crap what a "Idontknow.avi" names itself. If it's WMV3, it's WMP, if it's XVID, it's xvid divx, if it's h.264..so on. Same with audio. it could be mp3, mp4, acc, etc etc.

WMP doesn't natually support many of the "open source" ones. So you're out of luck even if it's called "playsonall.avi"... what you would need is a compatible codec usually ffmpeg(the big of big list)

The problem is how "iron fist" microsoft is going to be. Ifi t's going to DRM itself up a wall to block all those out...you're out of luck...forget about streaming, it won;teven phyically go in.

Not to me..it's stunninly old. You say cup half full, I say half empty.

And Kaemo was ment for xbox:

            IGN quote:

            source : http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/490/490038.html

With an 03 release date, that's probably decently late indevelopment..especially since they started on the cube. I'll say maybe 65%~85% at that time, since an 03 release. MS brought rare in 02 I believe.

We'll see next-gen games when developers finally put more then their toes in. For now weither it be 360, or PS3, you're getting xbox180 games.

Remember its a FANTASY game. It won't have realistic graphics. If you can't look past that then it must be your tv or your eyes.

/sigh It was ORIGINALLY slated for the GAMECUBE. Go do your homework before just hitting IGN for info. EDIT: Ok here let me help. It was so easy too. I just put in "Kameo Gamecube" into the search at www.google.com and look what I found!

Maybe yes, maybe no. Does it matter? Have I spoken like a Rev can't do wrong, or Sony rootkits are good for you?

And I stand by it, nothing special. Launch games are launch. Look at the review on gamespot for what real "ports" did between 360 and xbox. They mostly added some effects here, and shaders there.. if it fools your eyes that fine, but's the real thing isn't here.

I wonder if people are impress with what's out or rather what will be out. They barely tapped on most of what 360 should be able to do. PGR looks most impressive so far.

Sensei, just because you saw it online does not mean it's still 100% True. If you are going to say this, where is your EXACT proof, and don't link me to a picture that you found on the internet. And just "because I say so" isn't proof for me to believe it.

CC: Best Buy Store, District and Territory Employees
                              DATE: December 6, 2005

                              I'm writing to apologize.

While all of us at Best Buy were thrilled to be part of the recent launch of Microsoft's Xbox 360 video game system — one of the most anticipated events in the history of electronic gaming — the launch did not go as we had hoped. We sold out of Xbox 360s nationwide in less than two hours, and most of our stores did an outstanding job of serving our gaming customers. I'd like to thank the majority of our employees, who provided a terrific experience for customers at the launch date. However, our promotional activities in certain cases failed to follow company guidelines. As a result, some of our valued gaming customers had an experience in our stores that was inconsistent with what you've come to expect from us, as a leader in the consumer electronics industry.

Specifically, customers in some Best Buy stores were told that they were required to buy additional Xbox accessories or services if they wanted one of the sought-after Xbox 360 consoles, even though we advertised the Xbox 360 console alone. I want to be very clear that Best Buy does not condone pressuring customers to purchase items they may not want or that may not fit their lifestyle. In fact, these behaviors are in direct conflict with our desire to serve customers' needs better than anyone else, and our values of honesty and integrity.

We are currently investigating all leads about promotional practices that may have violated the company's guidelines, and we will take disciplinary actions as appropriate. We have also reminded all of our stores about our policies with respect to launches of hot products. Meanwhile, on behalf of Best Buy, I'd like to offer a sincere apology to any customers who felt pressured to buy items they did not want.

Customers who are unhappy with Xbox 360-related purchases made in November 2005 may return unwanted items for a full refund at any Best Buy store. In addition, if your Xbox 360 purchasing experience did not meet your expectations for any reason, please e-mail us at xbox360@bestbuy.com. (Employees with information pertinent to our investigation are encouraged to call our Ethics Hot Line instead.)

Lastly, I would like to invite you back to our stores, particularly later this month, when Best Buy will receive more shipments of Xbox 360s. While supplies continue to be very limited, we are truly excited about this new gaming platform, and we'd like to deliver the best of that experience to you. We promise an in-store experience that is focused on your needs and the needs of everyone on your holiday gift list.

                              Brian Dunn"

Thank you, I was just defending my position because I don't want to spread a Definate date around. I have seen the "Best Buy" "news of the week" post stating the 18th. I was refering to this as so were you. I'm sorry if I came off as offensive, I just didn't want people to get the wrong idea. When I said not to link it, it was because I have already seen it, and it has been posted 2-3 times in this thread alone. I work tonight and I will find out more information on this "2nd launch" today at work. Sadly, I had to put in my two weeks, and my last day is tomorrow.
