Boy, anyone who was calling me nutz or disagreeing when I stated it's possible for a program to be made to detect you using 3rd party software. There's your freaking proof I've been preaching, it's all API (Advanced Program Interface) commands. Similar commands I use at work for my multiple automated processes I've created and monitor from a central system.

Just like the guy stated it is kind of touching on privacy, then again this is were with the current Laws and the agreements you verify everytime when you log on to the game gives possibility of them bypassing any privacy invasion. Basically you likely are already agreeing in the ToS that they have the right to spy on you to make sure you are not using 3rd party software. The only way they'd get in trouble to that sense would be if they stored the hashings and attempted to use them outside of the reason originally created, otherwise they are pretty well in the clear to use for the time being.

Just like many Shareware or Freeware programs if you ever got something of spyware, adware, or malware from downloading it look at the ToS again. Nearly every time the ToS states you are going to have one of the mentioned programmed installed in addition to. As far as the law changing to this, that's hard to tell really. Seems as many people you have that would like to use 3rd party programs you have about the same that are against their use.

In the end with most laws that try to control something to that nature will likely be fought back against from multiple sides. One wanting the spyware of this sort but to restrict it more, ultimately making it less effective. Another side wanting it as pure as it is for the most effective use. Another side not wanting it at all so they can use 3rd party programs. Then the last I can think the paranoid group not wanting it at all thinking it could be used against them to prevent illegal actions. Possibly many other sides to it as well, but those are the 4 most dominant I can think.

Oh, not to mention what sides the companies will take. The game developers likely to take spins from this to make it either flat out legal for them to do, or add in a spin that players pay them more to not be monitored and prevented of 3rd party program use, or probably some other wild ideas.

Odds are if S-E did try something like this, within a day or two, someone would have some sort of blocking utility for it. No matter what S-E does, the casual gamer/programer always seems to be one step ahead of them, which i find incredibly funny.

That kind of depends on how SE does it, if they have the system force control back to SE's server to handle then there is little you can do on your system without really trashing your own performance. It all depends on it's implimentation, then also with APIs the one that has lead is the one to be installed first. Of course the APIs for the OS are always first and the commands being used as that website stated are OS API commands, pratically no way to beat them in being the first loaded unless you emulate the OS in an OS and that's just going to kill performance with the current processors.

Again that is if SE were to do this.
