I think the better question is, who cares? No one outside of the companies should care about it. The loyalty to the companies used to be honorable, but now it's just ignorance. If everyone could afford it, they would buy all 3 systems.

But is that the best Nintendo "fanboys" can come up with? They stole their hardware ideas? Very few people actually buy systems for their rumble features, or joysticks, so why do they care? I guess it gives them an excuse to bitch.

I thought the definition of an analog stick wasnt that it was just a joystick, but that it was incremental. i.e. you push it a little forward and you walk that way, you push it farther and you jog, you push it all the way and you sprint. I thought the fact that it was a joystick was moot, but it used analog functionality (im still not sure its true analog, or if its digital with multiple points it goes through). In which case I do recall that Nintendo was the first to release it atleast for a console. (whether or not Sony had already started working on it before Nintendo, or if arcade games used analog before this, then I do not know) I do recall playing mario64 at best buy or somewhere like that and noticing that there were 3 or 4 different speeds of movement you could make him run.
As for caring or not, some gamers will always have a special place in their heart for one particular console or one company. By and large, I really dont care. Always be a place in my heart for Metroid and Zelda though, too many good memories from back in the day.

That's still "Natural extension of ideas" clause. I can invent a TV with legs, and patient it, but anyone can think that up because there are things with legs and there are TVs.

Under your definition, then the military still beat you too it as fighter plane sticks do the same idea, and most 1980's joysticks for flight sim for did that, The more you tilted it, the faster you turn.

As they say it's not a matter of who invented it as the ideas are so close, it was bound to happen and soon. Atari putting a stupid stick on a home game controller to move made that happen.

legally though patients are dangerous because they become court cases and lots of money thrown around.

I'll point out the case of the rumble pack/dual shock again, where some unamed company got money off console makers, from MS to nintendo to Sony.

That reminds me Kuu, got a few websites I had saw a few months old but I didn't see them before. I had no clue Mercury teamed up with IBM, Sony, and Toshiba to further advance the Cell Technology. They are planning to use the cell technology in military and medical uses now, that's quite an advance I think for something that isn't going to be replacing regular old computer design.

Bascially from how it looks instead of making that big bulky processor with all the programmer friendly stuff for them to do the middleware in, it's seperated into a Cell Workstation were you do all the middleware stuff in and it compiles it out the program design the other cells will use.

Don't know but with all it's capabilities being revealed it seems that it isn't only taking shots at Microsoft but at Intel as well.

ok, i was doing a compare and contrast with PS3 and box360. Xbox360 beat PS3 so i was like 'ok, maybe ill get a Xbox360' then i saw the price......$699

you have to be shitting me. I would not waste my money on a video game system thats $699. Hell, the most i'd spend would me $300 at most for a system. Microsoft better drop that price into a more affordable deal. No offense to anyone getting the 360 when it 1st comes out but if you are going to waste $699 for a damn video game system. you have no life.

I got updates from my work... you guys won't be happy if you didn't pre-order early.


Our initial supply got cut in half. Yes, in Half. They told us to do 26 pre-orders, we did thouse insanly fast... Now we're only doing 13...

Yea, I had to call people... i havn't done it yet...

So call your local ebgames/gamestop, see what's going on. I dunno if this is the same for gamestop, I think they may have gotten an *increase* because of the recent merger... but that's just me.

ANyway, I'll keep you guys updated... 20 days in counting.

Ya I called the store the other day to see how things were going. I was told that they have had so many pre-orders throughout the US that MS is concerned they may not be able to meet demand. So I freaked and the manager assured me I would have mine on release day since I'm his favorite customer. I think he means I'm his favorite sucker!! LOL

Something seems kind of fishy about how XBox360 is going with that. It almost seems like MS wants to try and reinact the whole PS2 fiasco with it's release and people putting on Ebay for $1,000+ an auction?? If that does happen though it would give MS an angle to brag with and create a false image of it's demand, that would definatly get the people lacking enough knowledge to know what's going on in the game industry to buy it thinking it's one hot deal.

Yeah, but it seemed kind of clear that the PS2 fiasco was kind of unplanned. With the XBox 360 though it seems almost as if it is planned, like a marketing scheme.

It's not planned, Microsoft has TOO BIG of a demand to be able to keep up. it's a new console so it's going to sell out and be sold out till after christmas. I'm sleeping outside target (to get my 2nd one), and I'm goign to sell it, I need the money.

I don't know what part of the country you live in but if its anywhere cold make sure you take along those warming packets. The kind the deer hunters put in their pockets to warm their hands. I also found a ski mask worked wonders. Two sleeping bags because the cold of the cement just seeps right through the one your in, more insulation is a must. But then again I'm old and arthritic so maybe that bothered me more than others. LOL
