Do you think we will ever see the day on mmorpgs when you type in the text in the chat box that your character will actually say the words? This is the 21st century...so...LOL.

I think TEXT > voice is a long way's off. What about spelling mistakes? If you have already seen the thing where windows will read text to the sight impared I think it is. If you ahve spelling mistakes like I just did, it gets confused and is like buh...
Anyway, they already have something like this (Team Speak and Ventrillo (sp?)-Baka Inu!

I don't think a program like that could handle the internet slang lol. And really that kind of sounds like a hassle :/ I'd rather just talk through a headset like in X-Box Live than type in order to hear the voice.Comment

We have the technology to do it now, in fact there are programs that can speak typed text... hell microsoft has a free one with their Voice SDK. But, no thanks. I will stick to reading text.

Ventrilo ( http://www.ventrilo.com/ ) and TeamSpeak ( http://www.goteamspeak.com/news.php ) are PC programs that allows you to talk to other people. Many LS's on FFXI use them for communication during hunts/farming/etc. You basically make a "room" on a server and give the information to your LS members. Then they can connect and chat to one another. You will also need a mic to talk.Originally posted by Kildem

How about voice to text? its not realy an issue in a mmorpg but in FPS games there is very little time to type, and it can easaly get you killed (more so tactical FPS) but thats why theres some games with voice chat so meh. but voice chat anyways isent good for mmorpgs, cause it would be coming from everywhere exept if it for party mode only.

Well, voice chat is normally restricted to several modes. On TS you need to have other people with the TeamSpeak software to join.-Baka Inu!
