If you haven’t heard or haven’t even bothered with the updates since 1.50, the newest update, v2.0, is hitting this western nation on August 12th. Aside from many slightly useful features, the most prominent ones are the Sony sanctioned web browser built into the home menu of the PSP and the ability to switch wallpapers on the go. There will also be enhanced audio and video playback with more supported formats available for pictures. With that what happened to my range of video formats? *cough* .avi .mpg(standard), etc *cough*.
One feature that it is lacking from my standpoint is the ability to lock your PSP from even being accessed. Like most Bios to date, they have bios password were it even prevents the computer from booting up till you verify who you are. I think that would be a handy solution for those who want to keep there PSP from greedy sibling and parents alike
Of course with this update there is also more security holes patched and strengthened. So far Homebrew have not been able to get past the 1.51-2 barriers. V2.0 update seems to seal that lid close just a little bit more keeping prominent homebrew users from updating past 1.50. Which; in any case, isn’t a problem since there are applications available to change your wallpaper and browse the internet to homebrew users. In turn, allows them to continue to play their favorites old school games on their PSP.
