While i may take things too seriously, you waltz around throwing labels on people without much in the way of evidence.

And the 7+ Million owners you state didn't buy Xbox for the 'same ol junk' i loosely described. They bought it for the same reason people still buy Ford trucks (dodges bullets) and for Halo/Madden. If you dont' believe that, take a trip to any college and ask each and every owner of an Xbox on campus as to why they own that machine.

And i probably use lol more than you do but in debates and stuff i find it tacky. Anyway, cheers - good discussion

Berzerk here is a little piece of worldly advice, tend to your own business. Knowledge is a wonderful thing. It opens many doors. I know more than just video games. I've have also gotten an education, worked in a very fulfilling job, fell in love, married, gave birth to 2 children, raised them, helped them with their education, and now enjoy their company and that of my grandson. I own a Victorian home that I'm currently renovating. (The electrical system is giving me fits at the moment! >.< ) My life is full and complete. Video games are just a part of that life. They are a large part of it and have been for over 30 years. I don't see that I will be slowing down anytime soon. Oh FYI, I also drive a Harley, love anime, build my own computers, and enjoy life to the fullest.

While you may think it is "scary", you don't know me. I have many nieces and nephews, friends of my children, and children in the neighborhood that visit me often or even call me just to talk about video games. They appreciate my unbiased knowledge and we always have fun.

Xbox 360.Because I don't see myself getting a PS3.Xbox 360 is my sytem of choice.I love multimedia(photos, net videos,mp3s) and finally Microsoft shares the same vision as mine.Having a console that can play multimedia stuff and have great games.A computer can do the same thing but you won't see DOA,Outrun and other console games on a PC.

Very well stated. It reminds me of this lady(had to be 40+) who was standing in line early in the morning just to get the psp. I asked her if it was for her son or daughter and she said it was for herself. I couldnt help but just smile to myself when i heard that as well as TheGrandMom post. It clearly shows that one can still enjoy the ventures of the young even when your up in age (no im not calling you old ) and also still lead a balanced life. I, for one, will be one of those that will still enjoy video games when im old just as much as i do now.

As for which system that i'll be getting? I plan on getting all three since all three systems will have games that i will want on them. One of the features i like on the xbox is the ability to turn the console on and off with the controller it self (it was shown at the E3 press confrence). That to me is one of the best selling features. Being able to turn it off while not leaving the comfort of your bed or couch is highly appreciated espcially when your under blankets or trying to stay warm and you built up a nice warm spot were your sitting/laying. It just makes sense to me, if your able to turn off your dvd player, tv, stero without having to get up... it should naturally be that way with gameconsoles too. I just hope Sony and Nintendos console have that feature.

Five games i would get at launch (if they are released at launch) Gears of War, DOA4, Madden 06, NFS Most Wanted, some other game (i have to read up on the latest games.)

I might get them all just for use as reference. As I am going into the game industry, soon it will be my company that decides what console i'll be working for and I have to keep my eyes open for everything.

Personal taste, I'm not fond of Xbox style games mostly. There are soooo many good japanese games out there that I really want to play but they never make their way to US (such as Romancing Saga mistrel song) but when *some* do make it to the US, they usually were available on Ps2 and GC. The more reason for me to choose Ps3 and Nintendo.

Xbox have provided good selection of american games. Which are usually not my taste. I can enjoy FPS but it's not my game type of choice. And I found Dead or Alive disgusting and poor.

If things stay unchanged, I would probably go with Ps3 and Nintendo as well. But hearing about Sakaguchi going to Xbox360 is holding me back. Will have to wait and see what games will be available at the end.

                          Re: PS3; Xbox360; or both?

I'll get any that don't cost over $300.

Appearently Sony admitted to the PS3 is going to be expensive (though they didn't say price). I'll wait for that to go down if it is more than $300.

I haven't seen anything w/ Xbox360 price wise so I can't make an oppinion on that.

I would be a lot of money that the Revolution will not exceed that, so I'm sure I'll pick that up pretty fast.

So far for me it looks like I'd be more interested in the Revolution anyway. I'm just wondering what they have up their sleeves for us since they said that while their system will have impressive graphics, it will not be the main focus. This is a departure from what the other two are doing. However, most people just want good graphics no matter how crappy the game play is. In the past when Nintendo tried to be innovative, all anyone cared about was graphics and shooting. This alone is telling me that games are turning into garbage.

Anyway, those that think the Dualshock is original, you're HIGHLY mistaken. The original PSX controller (before dualshock) was a SNES controller with L2 and R2 and the buttons had symbols instead of letters (and the plastic handles were different, which was uncomfortable as hell). Nothing original. Then they saw the success of Nintendo's control stick and "Rumble Pack" so soon after N64 came out they released their Dual-Shock which was just their regular controller with two joysticks slapped into the insides (notably half-assed) and vibrators in the handles (thus widening them and making it a bit more tolerable comfort wise). The Dualshock2 is just the Dualshock with analog buttons. Sony sucks at building controllers. Luckily many of the games make up for it. But in their defense, they ARE the ones that have the best controller for sidescrollers these days. Oh and look at the new controllers for PS3. They're the same thing they been using forever just shaped differently and support wireless. Nothing new there. So when it comes down to it, you're using a modified SNES controller with a couple of half-assed thought up additions.

When Microsoft realized their Xbox's controllers sucked at least they gave us the S-Controller and it wasn't half-assed. Though I do think both highly resemble Dreamcast's controllers.

Nintendo seemed to be innovative with all their controllers. And personally, I think the N64 controller to still be the best, with the Gamecube one not far behind.

Just for the record I have owned every console for all three of these companies.

                            Re: PS3; Xbox360; or both?

Price isn't exactly a bad thing, infact it can work to both your advantage or disavantage.

For those that remembered, it was believed that $100-150 to be a magical number for video game console.

Then sony busted all that with the ps2.

Many times you have to remember you get what you pay for in this business. We know for a fact no console is more then the cost of its production.

This also means that targeted audience will shift somewhat too. Nintendo's price tags reflected it greatly as a "childish" "family" oriented because that's was where it most of it's console users seem to have landed on.

PS2 was a very teen to adult thing and many games reflected on that which may appeal to our tastes, even with ESRB trying to censor and segregate everything, we still got that age group of game because affordability is much more accessible in that group.

We can find mario party fun, but childish is childish, and in the ad biz, no matter what a consumer tries to deny, the proof is in the numbers.

PS3 is still on track to be the favored winner this time around as gadget loving seems to be in these days and PS3 is the best positioned in that spot. Surpisingly looking at ps2 and xbox, that's where the biggest consumer base is. Young adults.

Xbox360 seem short sighted, and is even geared towards teenagers, which problem is, teenagers are growing up fast these days.

I don't even have to say much of revolution...nintendo seems to be sitting this one out, and be content in their little niche for time being. They've seem to be doing that since NU64 didn't cut it.

Hmmm...not in my lifetime. The majority of consoles were released at $199+ and more on the + side than not. In fact, Sega Saturn was $399, hell Neo Geo was $650, the beloved PS was $299 and heck that was even in your lifetime.

FYI it looks like a Nov 2nd release for the 360 and the price looks like $299. 10 years since the PS and still the same price. That must be a hard one to swallow for them.
