You know there is a flaw in that logic. It only holds true to legitimate and 100% legal actions, as it's already proven even on this forum with it's very own admin no one is ever 100% legit or doing legal actions. Everyone seems to have this little demon that'll rationalize just about anything for them.

With that said you won't believe the number of emulators I've found on my little search (Before getting directed again by Grandmom of a question I asked her before) that are for the PS2 to emulate just about every previous game console that's existed. The PSP even has emulators now for some of the newer handheld devices, so at this pace I wouldn't be surprised if the PS3 somewhere along the way has emulations for the Xbox and the Xbox 360.

Yes the Xbox also has emulators it can use for a few previous game consoles, but no were near the number the PS already has. Most likely because the Xbox is newer then the PS, but might be also there are more of the modding groups that preffer PS consoles over Xbox. Though the Xbox does have an emulator to use Playstation 1 games.

In the end if each game console is able to emulate another completly is it going to matter which you have for the games? I don't think so, I think it'll matter more in what the system itself can do and so far the PS3 has the Xbox360 beat.

Its funny that ppl get to the point of resentment about not having something that others have, that they insist that is must be complete shit and not worth having. (Note: this is in reference to the early parts of this thread, its gotten much nicer in the last page or two). Personally, I'm blessed to have a good job, cheap rent, and no girlfriend to take up my time and money so I should be able to buy all 3. Yes, based on specs ps3 should knock the crap outta 360, but what its gonna come down to is games. Usually if a game is out on all 3 systems, I buy it for the xbox b/c I like the controller better (i have big hands and the ps2 controller fits "ok" but its still a little odd). I cant wait for perfect dark zero. The original is still my favorite fps of all time (sorry halo fans). The challenges are what made that game so great. We used to play for hours on end when I was in college, trying to beat the last cpl challenges where the simulants get ungodly hard.
Both systems will have some good games, and saying that XBOX360 is shit simply b/c you have some sort of personal hatred for Bill Gates is just stupid. (Why do ppl really hate him so much? I cant figure that one out)

Nodachi, please read before making a fool of yourself. First off, my name is TheGrandMom. If I was a "kid" it would be a very big surprise to my husband, 2 grown children, and my grandchild. I don't see anything wrong with judging any of the next-gen consoles before they're released. We've seen samples of what they can do (more so with the Xbox360), and they are meant to give us insight into what "next-generation gaming" should be like.

From what was shown at E3 this year, I personally don't feel that the Xbox360 fully represents that "next-generation." But of course, those were Xbox360 test-kits and not the real system that'll be in homes this November, so the flaws such as the poor framerate will be less visible.

The Playstation 3 demos were not running on the Playstation 3, they were made using current PC technology based around what the Playstation 3 will be like. However, Sony did not let us down when they did the same thing at E3 1999 with the Playstation 2. I believe the Playstation 3 will be leaps and bounds ahead of the Xbox360 and the Revolution, not just in graphics but in development.

Between the two, I'm absolutely certain I'm going to purchase a Playstation 3. The fact that the Final Fantasy series will continue on the PS3 is enough to make me wake up at 3 AM on launch day and wait in line for my PS3.

But I'm the most excited about the Nintendo Revolution. I may be among the few here, but I simply love Nintendo. They have ticked me off with their choices in the past, namely to stick with proprietary cartridges with the N64, then stick with proprietary Gamecube discs with the GCN, which have severely limited their console's potential. However, since the Revolution will use proprietary digital media able to store the same amount of content as a standard DVD, I'm certain that Nintendo has finally given in to the right decision. And, like Final Fantasy on the PS3, Zelda says it all for me with the Revolution.

In the end I could care less about the actual hardware. I didn't own an Xbox because the list of developers really never interested me, save for a few titles I wish had been ported over to the PS2, such as Panzer Dragoon Orta or Ninja Gaiden. The Xbox360 developer list looks much more appealing though, with more Japanese developers which I prefer, especially Square Enix and Mistwalker. I'm kinda hoping I won't like the Xbox360 that much, because my wallet really doesn't need to suffer at the hands of 3 different next-gen consoles.

It's one thing to objectively look at the different consoles and it's another thing to call something "trash". That's the point I made. I don't mind having an intelligent conversation about the differences in systems or someone stating that one system might not have the games they are interested in. But when people call things crap and trash without facts backing it up, then its no longer a discussion, its just a fanboy talking.

Yes, your right, basing the system when its not the final release is premature. Yes, it very well may be exactly what we end up getting. But the thing about E3 is that they like to see what the other systems are doing and they like to hear what the fans have to say. Sometimes changes are implemented after E3 and sometimes they are not. It will be interesting to see if the 360 meets its release date and doesn't change.

As far as the PS2, yes it was very disappointing on release. The games on release did not display the quality of the system at all. Look at some of the games now and compare them to back then, there is a definate difference. (Not to mention a lack of titles at release and lack of quality ones.) Many people were disappointed in the PS2 and there was speculation on whether they were going to be able to pull it off. But soon that was put to rest and it steamrolled its way to the top.

As I've said before, again and again, I am a fanboy of no system. I will defend them all. Thats why I don't see a need for slandering a system before it's even released. And just a fyi, if the 360 and the PS3 were released at the same time and I only had money to buy one, I would get the PS3 hands down.

Despite whatever age you may be, who are you to assume I'm a fanboy. The only system I lay claim to being a 'fanboy' to would have been the old Sega consoles. However Sega is obviously no longer in the first party running anymore so I am a fanboy to none of the 3 systems running.

I also doubt your maturity for your age due to the first post you made which I responded too, and don't think you posess enough knowledge or wisdom to even make a sound judgement on the up and comming systems and use the excuse of claiming to have more maturity. Anyone that says something is "trash" before its even been released and tested by the gaming public is, in my opinion, a fanboy. Only fanboy's make blanket statements such as that...or maybe a MS hater. "Oh noooooz MS made a game system!1!! They are EBIL!!1!!" The only system i hadn't played was Atari, i got Nintendo first day of release and have been playing since. I've worked for Game stores and attended E3 twice, the inner nerd in me is wanting to say i'm more of a gamer than you but that's irrelevant (sp?.

I think what it is is that you are indeed a fanboy. Not for a single system but for all three companies, blindly following (regaurdless of what your optomotrist said) each of them backing them religiously off of faith.

My reasons for stating it as trash is that the 360 is clearly being rushed. MS has the bucks and the brains to crank out probably the beefiest system of them all. But are racing to meet deadlines and beat out the other two systems to cash in on holiday releases and attempting to get impatient kiddies to get this system before others (incase parents are making them choose).

But ok let's talk non-stats. Let's say each system has the same capabilities and same stats all across the board. Where's the games? Xbox has the least backing out of all three from third party software this time around. Even beat out by Nintendo who often lacks the most third party support. Instead we're left with the same ol junk reincarnations of PC shooters and sims. Americanized RPGs obly and Xbox is forced to rely yet again on EA games to bring in their bucks. Xbox will still sell of course, mainly in part due to its already established well working online play. I know it's early i know it still had kinks but the need for speed game that was playable at E3 was nothing ooh and ahh about any sort of next gen system. Everyone agreed it looked great but just felt like a slightly improved version of what the original XBox could have been. I'm not a M$ hater, nor do i have anything against bill gates, but if you are a true gamer like you present yourself as being you would recognize that Xbox lacks the most variaty, most originality and the has the least international titles. Why would a true gamer be drawn naturally to that selection as it is? But i digress, i too own each system and have enjoyed each, but fail to see where a system needs so much blind faith.

Well as far as TheGrandMom's age, I'm pretty sure she has to be somewere around the late 40s or early 50s. She has the same witty comments and remarks as my mother, and my friends mothers. It's hard to explain it has this corny kind of air to it or at least that's how it's percieved by me.

As far as game consoles, or any system for that matter, I'm purely intrested in only the ones that have really made an effort to advance technology. In this idea I believe the PS3 to be putting for more effort for this then the Xbox 360 is.

You may want to differentiate the Xbox from M$ sure can try but it's the head people. The ones that have the final say in how their products run and such that control them ultimatly. With this respect both are still under Bill Gates, and you can clearly see his influence is still in it by the fact that the only way his products can ever beat their competitors is to be the first ones out.

In the corporate end with companies relying on computers for their business that will work great, companies are always after what will give them an edge and is affordable for them as well as being the fastest one completed. With gamers though that isn't quite the same case, gamers tend to demand a level improvement so speed is not always the best thing in that matter.

All I see with the Xbox 360's early release is Bill Gates trying to beat Sony in the same manner he beat Macintosh. What's funny though is as time progresses you see a trend now were more and more PCs are starting to gravitate away from M$ and going to the software and system that truely are superior.

As for backing my belief on the PS3 being superior it's all in it's design of the cell technology. In more resent releases of the cell technology's abilities from IBM they show the cell easily being capable of dedicating the entire cell processor to generate integer functions that the Xbox 360's 3 powerpc processors can do and do it just as good or even better. Not only that but unlike the Xbox 360's design the cell processor can actually dedicate each of it's 7 SPEs to control seperate processess making a more true asynronous functionality that the Xbox 360 can only "simulate" and still will not be able to dedicate full AIs to individual objects.

I'm sorry Xbox is still made by the same people who can develop a program that can identify extended name folders and files but can't always properly open a file correctly if any of the extended names has spaces in it. Something as simplistic as that which I create a simple work around took only 3 lines of coding and yet still M$ can't seem to fix that? That same mentality I personally think is still being carried over to Xbox so I really don't have much faith in the system itself.

With all that said I will agree though the Xbox and the Xbox 360 do have a couple of games that caught my intrest, but still I'd rather go with the one that has a greater amount of games to my intrest.

I believe the loose definition of a fanboy is someone that is dedicated to one thing of a particular group and not to all things in the group. So therefore I do not fit the description of a fanboy. I respect the good and the bad aspects of all the systems. When I buy multiple system titles I keep the +'s and -'s in mind. Therefore I get the most out of my systems. What is wrong with backing all 3 systems? It's not right to be fair minded? It's not right to enjoy them all? Or are you the one being the fanboy?

While you say the X-box will have the "same ol junk", others do not see it that way. What you should say is "While some people enjoy the X-box, they do not make games that I'm interested in. That's why, to me, the X-box is inferior and I won't be purchasing it." This I can understand. But the other 7 million+ owners will tend to disagree with you. I personally like just about all genres. I'm not too big into sports games but I do like golfing and sometimes hockey. LOL So for me, I have a plethora of games waiting for me and it doesn't matter what system they are released for. I see nothing wrong with not purchasing a system that doesn't have the games you like. What I do see as wrong, is making a blanket statement about something when its obviously enjoyed/will be enjoyed by millions of people that DO like the genres on the system.
