I know I will always buy Nintendo consoles if there's the slightest possibility of a Zelda game being released for it.

Yep same here. Zelda does it for me. Also my husband is a huge Zelda addict and I could NEVER get away with not buying the newest game!

        Metroid was nice, but Zelda...

I'm sorry but Zelda hasn't put any fire in my heart for a long time. It just feels too ordinary with many games that has pretty much the same style.

They haven't put in much refreshing idea for Zelda in a long while, and whatever feelings I had for the elf in tights was gone long ago, he hasn't gotten much of a soul as a character over time.

Sometimes I admire Square on their final fantasy series, as almost every numbering they weren't afraid to try something refreshingly different, for good or bad.

The Nintendo Revolution controller has been revealed!

          From IGN:

          • Revolution controller looks like futuristic television remote.
          • Glossy white design.
          • Looks Apple iPod inspired.
          • Controller is held in one hand. Attachments in the other.
          • Attachments connect to the bottom of the controller. Iwata shows analog stick attachment.
          • Thinking about packing Revolution with the main controller and attachment, Iwata says.
          • Controller acts like a mouse in real-space 3D. Pefect for FPS games!
          • Future attachments planned.'

I'm very excited. This opens an amazing amount of potential for videogames.

Here's a hands-on discussion from IGN. Apparently they were given a private chance to test-drive the controller yesterday.

This is a bit better picture. It sure is different. I reserve my opinion until I can try it. But I will say its nice to see some innovation in the industry.

Sound interesting, but I'm not buying it at this point...

Anything that deals with 3D space has proven to be a problem because of the fact that you are using a free design system, which while great at first, causes a lot of unforseen problems.

I, for one don't want to shake my hands, especially both hands for more then 5 minutes.

Anyone who played a gun type shooting game knows that at a certain point, winning or loosing is not a matter of skill so much as your phyical arm strength is giving out and draining your concentration.

Also such things are usually fragile, especially when you market it to children. Many techonlogies are usually dump down because the components are not durable as it should be.

The 2nd and more serious problem is, games would be very hard to cross platform with such an exotic HCI system. That means Rev will be even more niched to 1st party games...and being different is a praised thing, it also kills being too different.

Perhaps they have manage to solved some of the issues, but the Nintendo's wow factor are squarely equalized with a caution factor for me.

My opinion? It's clearly much lighter than a Guncon that you use for Time Crisis, and you don't have to hold it up to the TV like Granny does when she wants to raise the volume on her soap operas.

Like any Guncon, it's obvious that you can just hold it down at your lap. As long as you aim it at the TV and maintain a wide enough range for proper control, it's most likely that you can find a comfortable position to play in.

There's already widespread praise of the Revolution's unique design from plenty of third parties, ranging from Square Enix to Hideo Kojima to Yuji Naka to THQ to Ubisoft...the list goes on. Whether or not said developers plan on creating new, unique titles and franchises for the Revolution or simply creating slightly altered semi-ports for the console, like has been done with the Nintendo DS, we'll have to see.

                    Either way.

Super Smash Bros. 3, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles 2, The Legend of Zelda.

The controller could be a banana and I'd still buy the system, for those 3 reasons.

How long can you raise your arm anything remotely close to parallel to your view. It used to be a children exercise. Most people can't last more then 5 minutes.

Of course you will be lowing your arm every so often, but this isn't minority report here. Daily operation that extend more then an hour or so will be straining. As teachers that write on blackboards all day can tell you how bad it can be.

It is also worse againist quick rapid movements which hopefully, won't be used much for that purpose, but then making it small also inversely make it limiting in how a person chooses to play it. Playing a fighting game where hand eye is important enough, you don't need hand eye, arm, and wrist.

As I said anything involving 3d space has been problematic. Rev is going into very uncharted and murky waters. Riches and danger equally abound.

Interested, intriguing, angry. I'm sure that buying a Revolution excludes you from the game your friend is playing on the other systems, however with a lower touted power, it wont be that bad. Nintendo effectively ensured that their system would be impossible to compare to the other two floating around.

Hell, Sony pushed things parallel into another dimension and Nintendo went all Vertical on us. It's a shame that it seems the 360 will be the odd man out, being weaker than the PS3 and having no "gimic", I suppose. Oh boooy, I can't WAIT for J Allard to give his opinion on the Revolution controller. Nay, I wait with bated breath and a gas mask because the amount of bs will be underestimateable.

But while the acclaim for the controller is well founded, as it should be, it upsets me that when Sony tried doing something with Their controller, everyone bitched and moaned. Christ, we havent even held the controllers of played the games, and Nintendo sucker punched the entire industry again. . . (I wish I could do something like that in English class. . . )

Whatever, Nintendo sold us drums and we bought em. Sony tries to sell us a boomerang and a dream and everyone claims blasphemy. What sucks is that I'm too hung over atm to cry!!!! >.<

What is revolutionary about a tv remote that came out over 20 years ago? This is supposed to be the inovation and change nintendo was bragging about? Nintendo "Who cares about the serious gamers, they will buy it no matter what. Let's go after the non-gamers."

Basically the whole light pen senerio.

It's been around since forever, but no one has done much with it besides using it as a power point presentation.

Stuff like that give me the jeebies because it's using more with more, less accurate then having a controller or a mouse or keyboard while doing more work. even pointing a finger at something is hard with shaking hands.

The concept is sound, for a quick learning curve, because we can naturually extend our senses to something, i.e point and move, but try and tested products tell us, it's more efficent other ways like a keyboard, which is a bitch to learn if you can't type, but once you catch on, no pen can match the speed of a professional typist.

I have a feeling that the "attachment" will be more used then the remote box, as most people will just find the classic controller more playable...they did mention that part so as to be backward compatible with older games.

Sony tried something different? Looks like basically the same controller in a different shape. I don't see a reason to laud them for that.

Its not a tv remote, its a game controller. When was the last time you looked at a tv remote and said "This could be a game controller!"...........exactly. Taking things that are used for one purpose and giving them an entirely new purpose is innovative to me. Better than just shaping it like a banana and calling it a day. LOL
