Re: What Final Fanatsy has the best storyline?

Wow...This IS old. o_o Oh well!

FF8 was my first FF game, and thus I really have to say, I loved it. Funny too, because it was my uncle's Playstation I played it on when I found it in the pile of games... He's a sports-gamer! How'd he get an RPG?! Oh well~

So yeah. From there on, I played FF9 with my best friend who owned it. That being HIS first FF, and we loved it. FFX was a nice great leap. Those graphics were insane, and when I saw the Ifrit summon and his new makeover, I could just faint. FFX-2... I WAS gonna rent it 2 days ago, but it seems someone took the last copy.

Now when it comes to FF1-FF7 and FF:T, I have yet to play. And I hope some gamestores around have an old bin of them. >_<

    ...

But enough rambling. I have to say -- FFX had the best storyline! To me aleast.
[Yeeah... I'll fit something here sooner or later. o_o;]

Re: What Final Fanatsy has the best storyline?

I agree with some that FFVII was over-rated, but I do NOT agree that makes it the worse FF. That's reserved for FFIX of the ones I've played (FFVIII, FFVII, FFIX, FFX, FFX-2, FFXI). However, it is reassuring to know there are for once-people who didn't care about FFVII though. It just seems may FF-boards or FF-fans elsewhere preferred FFVII

I think VIII had the best storyline, and also-as a whole-was the most 'entertaining' until FFX came around. However, I tend not to compare the two nor would I. But I did as well like X-2, even though I've yet to beat the game.

ffVIII is one of my favs also.
I totally agree. That's what I esp. liked about Squall-he was nothing special, and unlike any other FF-character I've seen-he could care less if he made a difference or even a dent in something, he'd just do what he does best and that's it.

Re: What Final Fanatsy has the best storyline?

I think FFIV and VI had the best storylines (4 and 6 actual sequence). The FF story was original back then, and FFVI, which is probably my favorite, had several fully developed characters rather then the single main character which is in most FFs, V was good to.

FFVII and VIII were pretty good, but you didn't connect with the characters as well, and 8 had a seriously long void of storyline towards the last half of the game, which kind of makes you want to not even bother finishing it.

FFIX wasn't bad, but if your not into the FF series from a whole perspective and don't actually bother to read what they are saying, it can go right over your head. FFX was decently interesting, but the inclusion of vocals, which were good but slightly disconnected from the emotional impact, kind of downplayed the action. The 5th grade romance between Tidus and Yuna didn't realy touch me. Locke from 6 and Cloud and Aeris/Tifa had much more moving relationships.
Learning > Intelligence > Experience. Weak minds are subject to experience before realization. Inteligent minds understand quickly with minimal experience. Learned minds excersise knowledge gained from study, and do not require experience to reach realization. Which is your claim?

Re: What Final Fanatsy has the best storyline?

FFVIII had a great story, I thought, until the end. "Uh....by the way, go fight a sorceress in the future. Thanks." I thought the interaction between characters was fantastic.

FFVI has a good story, but it just didn't...capture me like FFVII's did. I wouldn't say I didn't care as much exactly, and it went in some awesome directions, it just didn't have the "it" factor that made VII what it was. However, I think I have to say Tactics takes the story crown. Even though it was hellishly confusing at times, the juggling of so many characters and motives and everything just made it the one that stands out most to me.

Although...you know, I loved FFX too. It felt like a long journey, and I love that kind of story. Also, the fact that Yuna was really the main character was a really interesting angle. It also gets kudos for being one of the only FF's besides T, some of VII and VIII to not have some sort of "vs. empire" storyline, and was really creative. I also thought it was a little more profound, with the true meaning of blitzball and the strength Yuna shows endgame. And I'm comfortable enough in my masculinity to say that the ending jerked a couple of tears out of me, which doesn't happen often. Even though you save the world in each day, I felt like FFX gave you the sort of perspective where it just...meant more.

So, uh. FFT or FFX, depending on my mood. I should mention that FFV's story bored me to tears, although it had cool characters (besides Butz, who I hate with a passion) and classes.

My two choices would have to be FFVII and FFIV.

I am going to approach this from a different angle. I have done many courses on novel writing, screenplay development etc at night school, kind of other intrest I have. I have written 37 short stories (mainly Science fiction and fantasy) and had 7 published in the Uk in interzone magazine. this is my opinion

                        No1. - Final fantasy X
This is No1 for this reason. The plot is vast but follows the principle guidlines, of start and ending sequences and includes, Fear, Future transportation, a common goal, tragedy, love, hate, twists (the ones that make you say F me I didn't realise this), religeous beliefs ruleing lives etc. etc. By far this installment has the best storyline that imerses you with the emotions of the characters. It follows the perfect path for story telling to the T with plenty of surprises. This is also teh msot user friendly to adapt to a film (if only!! should have made one about this story rather than the Spirits within story)

                        2nd is FF 7
The dialect in places is a bit lame but the story has a good sense of direction and even with the tradgedy of Aeris dying (Oh shit spoiled it for anyone who hasn't played it!! ) kept the people hooked. The dialect as mentioned was a bit tongue in cheek but if everyone like me made it hillarious to read by adding your own funny character names (yes even I stooped that low....
Cloud:- Hey "Arsehole" come here (and beleive me you got off lightly!!)

3rd:- Well gotta be FF8, the love story and the true determination, common goal (snore snore, nearly finished) and the concept of military academy etc.

4th is FF6 which has already been disected fully above by many people selecting it their favourite.

Well what I do enjoy about the FF series as a whole is how much a sense of humour the creators have and I love alot of dialogue they have injected into the game, some quite adult humour which shows the braod reange of age groups that play it.

The story line for FF12 looks very good and I can't wait to get my hands on it!! Also for story lines of how you play the game FFXI here we play it is you the player who fills in the gaps between the cut scenes of missions, you only just have to read everyones journals they have produced and you get a different story for every player.

Ok lecture over, YOU stop snoring over there. *prod*

and yes I do get my stries proof read before they get sent off, my spilling is atrotious!! Well when a mate is an english teacher, you might as well make use of his ability!!

I would personally say ffx, even though it does get quite complicated, on my first go around i hadn't really paid attention and when i was at the very end i was completely perplexed o.O

Second is ffix, the fact that it's storyline swaps completely from stopping brahne to stopping Kuja and garland, and the way at the end it lacks the sense of urgency they normally have keeps it off the top spot

I would go with FF3 American. The storyline/plot was sooooo good. The characters were amazing, and the villain was a crazy kook. I seriously played this game so many times, marveling at how well-done it was made (considering it was a Super nintendo game) How can it get any better than that?
